Book review Yelton, David K. Hitler's Volkssturm: The Nazi Militia and the Fall of Germany, 1944-1945. Lawrence, KS: University Press of Kansas, 2002
Editor's Pick Sometimes when we run across an interesting/unusual/informative book, especially an old and out-of-print one, we like to bring it to your attention. Here's one, or in this case an entire series, that's not too old but deserves a closer look: Der Zweite Weltkrieg im Kartenbild The books in this series have grown better and better with each new release, and they provide map after map with unprecedented detail, including not just German operations but deployments for the forces of Poland, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, etc. The accompanying text is in German, but these books are really all about the maps, so language is not an obstacle. Dreadfully expensive, but worth every penny.
