In memoriam USN veteran Gene Benedetti died in California on 13 January at the age of 86. He skippered an LCT during the invasions of North Africa, Italy, and France, and he was wounded at Anzio and Omaha Beach and earned the Silver Star. His older brother, Dante Benedetti, was a USMC pilot who was shot down and killed by an IJN fighter over Guadalcanal in October 1942.

News from Eagle Editions Judy Crandall sends word about the status of current projects at Eagle Editions: "JG 300 volume 2 has not been released. Working on the corrections and additions from the authors right now, then it will go to the indexer, then to the printer. I anticipate an April or May release. Black Cross, Red Star volume 3 is on track. We just released the third in our Wings of the Black Cross series...."
In memoriam USN Lieutenant Commander Brent Maxwell Abelcommanding USS Buckley (DE-51) when it attacked and rammed U-66 in the Atlantic on 6 May 1944, sinking the U-boat after hand-to-hand combat while the vessels lay side-by-side, and capturing many of the German crewhas died in California at the age of 89.
