Welcome! You are visitor # More than 1,700,000 hits!

John Lennon: "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that, I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first - Rock and Roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right, but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me."

John Lennon: "When I feel my head start to swell I look at Ringo- then I know we're not superhuman."

Paul McCartney: "I think that, particularly in the old days, the spirit of The Beatles seemed to suggest something very hopeful and youthful."

John Lennon: "My original idea for the cover was better - decapitate Paul - but he wouldn't go along with it."
John Lennon: "She forced me to become avant-garde and take my clothes off, when all I wanted was to become Tom Jones."

George Harrison: "Trying to influence people and doing things like painting the Apple shop was all just part of the Teddy-Boy in us, the Teddy-Boy theme of 'We'll show them.' We thought, 'We'll paint the building one night, and the next morning people will come up the street and the whole bloody building's going to be psychedelic.' That was what it was all about- I think we would have been pirates in a different life."

John Lennon: "When The Beatles were depressed, thinking, the group is going nowhere, and this is a shitty deal, and we're in a shitty dressing room...I'd say, 'Where are we going, fellas?' They'd go, 'To the top, Johnny!' And I'd say, 'Where's that, fellas?' and they'd say, 'To the toppermost of the poppermost!' and I'd say, 'Right!' Then we'd all cheer up."

Paul McCartney: "Hamburg totally wrecked us. I remember getting home to England and my dad thought I was half-dead. I looked like a skeleton, I hadn't noticed the change, I'd been having such a ball!"

John Lennon: "I grew up in Hamburg, not Liverpool."

Paul McCartney: "Personally, I think you can put any interpretation you want on anything, but when someone suggests that 'Can't Buy Me Love' is about a prostitute, I draw the line. That's going too far."

John Lennon: "And Paul hits this chord and I turn to him and say, 'That's it! Do that again!' In those days, we really used to absolutely write like that - both playing into each other's noses."

Ringo Starr: "I met The Beatles while we were playing in Germany. We'd seen them in Liverpool, but they were a nothing little band then, just putting it together. In fact, they weren't really a band at all."

Ringo Starr: "He changed our image only in making us a bit smarter. They all changed my image. I used to have my hair right back, like a teddy boy, with a Tony Curtis cut and sideboards and suddenly it was, 'Shave them off and put your hair down,' which I did."

George Harrison: "The moment you find yourself thinking about things, then you replace that thought with the mantra again."

Ringo Starr: "What I remember most about the concert was that we were so far away from the audience. They were all across the field, all wired in. When I tour now, I like the audience right in my face. I like to have some reaction, something going on together between me and them."

Ringo Starr: "That was what happend when we got out. It was safer making records, because once they let us out we'd just go Barmy."

Paul McCartney: "The basic thing in my mind was that for all our success The Beatles were always a great little band. Nothing more, nothing less."

Paul McCartney: "Was it really as bad as that? It wasn't the worst programme over Christmas. I mean, you couldn't call the Queen's speech a gas, either, could you?"

George Harrison: "On tour that year, it was crazy. Not within the band. In the band we were normal, and the rest of the world was crazy."

George Harrison: "Apple has, to a certain extent, been a haven for drop-outs, but some of our best friends are drop-outs."
