Wheeler, Gardner ( .... - 1989)

Gardner Wheeler was a native Californian--born and raised in Los Angeles; educated at Hollywood High and Pomona College. His attraction to the San Joaquin Valley began early, with family camping trips north over the Ridge Route into the valley, then through Porterville to the High Sierra.

He worked as manager of the Tule River Citrus cooperative, as a state agriculture inspector and in management for Sunkist Fruit Growers Supply Company. During this time he wrote newspaper columns and occasional articles for the Farm Tribune and the Porterville Recorder.

Upon retirement he continued his writing and civic involvement.
