Jeff Cox was an in-house editor of Organic Gardening magazine for 10 years, and a columnist for the magazine for another 15. Over those years, he scanned thousands and thousands of how-to ideas submitted by gardeners, trying out many in his own garden, and inventing quite a few himself. Here then is the distilled wisdom of those many years into his 100 greatest ideas, every one of which he has personally tried. The book gives ideas for each of the seasons of the year, including winter (e.g., a winter landscape birds will love, homegrown salads in the dead of winter). Just a few of the ideas: -Summer-long Harvests of Asparagus -A Year's Worth of Tomatoes for an Hour's Work -Delightful Delphiniums All Season Long -No-Work Mulch Gardening -Get Six Rose Plants from a Single Bush Each idea is accompanied by full color illustrations that show you exactly how to use the technique in your own garden. "Jeff knows his stuff. This is solid information, presented in a reader-friendly format. Even if you try only a few of his 100 ideas, you'll improve your garden." Nancy Bubel, author of The New Seed-Starter's Handbook. "Here are plenty of truly great ideas for easier, more productive gardening." Greg Williams, editor of HortIdeas. "A good book to add to your library." Dick Raymond, author of Joy of Gardening. $27.95 Order Back |
