Reminder notes on forecast soundings:
After you go to the site at http://maps.fsl.noaa.gov/
On the left side is a menu, you will see a section called -
"Current and Forecast", and under that you will see "Interactive" - Click on Interactive.

The left side of the screen is a frame that will remain the same. Make that menu frame screen smaller, so you have
more room for the chart that appears. Drag the right border of that small menu screen to the left to make it small.

Scroll to the bottom of the new main screen, and select the following:
----- Select "RUC-2"
----- Change the "station" from Denver (DEN) to RBL for Red Bluff.
----- Then click on "Java Based Applets"

Load the forecast sounding for early afternoon, put your pointer on the airport elevation and the expected high temp for the day, and click!
See the shaded area of convective air. your pointer will give you a readout of allltitudes.
You can see the forecast of the winds very clearly at all altitudes on that right side also.
This is very helpful info, knowing the wind changes - make a note of it.
