Bodega Head

Bodega Head
Location: The rocky point at the end of Westshore Road. From Hwy 1, turn onto Eastshore Road to Bay Flat Road to Westshore Road. When having to chose between a left and right turn, keep bearing right.
Mile Marker: SON ????
Access: Shore
Nearest Public Telephone: I'm guessing it's back at Spud Point Harbor

Bodega Head is a NW facing beach easily accessible from a the parking lot at the end of Westshore Road. The drive along Westshore Road heading toward the parking lot on Bodega Head takes your right past the infamous "Hole In the Head".

Bodega Head a popular whale watching spot (January-March are the best times for whale watching) and not very popular for abalone diving. I suspect that's mostly because the NW exposure makes for rough entries most days. And, if the area is anything like what's nearby, there aren't a lot of big, fat abalone to be found. But it is an easy commute for most folks living north of the Golden Gate. Maybe, it's worth a shot. I can't say; never dove there.
