Drew's Cove Drew's Cove
Location: Approximately halfway between Stockhoff Cove and Stillwater Cove
Mile Marker:
Access: Boat
Facilities: None
Nearest Public Telephone: There's a public telephone at the day use parking lot in the Stillwater Cove County Park. That parking lot is located at the top of the stairs located across Highway 1 from the loading/unloading parking area closest to the beach.

Between Stillwater Cove to the north and Stockhoff Cove south, there's a line of offshore washrocks that terminates at a very large rock/island guarding Stockhoff Cove. Just before you get to that sentry rock, there's a washrock with a brass plaque mounted on it. The washrock isn't very big and I've never taken the few opportunities I've had to do a seal landing on the thing so I could climb up and read that plaque. But I've been told by a friend who did that the plaque commemorates someone named Drew. Thus, we refer to this area as Drew's Cove. One day soon, I'll go out and verify what that plaque says and, hopefully, won't have to rename this site if my G2 is proves wrong.

I haven't done a lot of diving to scope out Drew's Cove entirely. Most of the time, the swell is humping up in the area and crashing unpredictably. But the few times I have dove there, I've found the area to be quite gorgeous. The bottom is a jumble of large rock structures that provide lots of abalone habitat down to 25'. Finding decent sized abs shallower than 10' requires some looking; below that, 8 1/2"+ abs are quite easy to find out in the open.
