LETTER FROM THE PREZ. WHEW! The Mini Nats came and went so fast. It is always amazing to me how long it takes to organize an event like this, only to have it end in 2 days. Nevertheless, the event was a blast!. I enjoyed having everybody get together and show the progress that had been made on their cars from last year. The consensus opinion was there were better quality cars than last year and I have to agree. Picking a top 12 was tough. The show laid out just like last year. We had 30 cars by 7:00 PM on Friday and by the middle of the day Saturday we had over 90 cars on site. Wayne Bushey's count was 82, but that count is a paid total. There were a lot of cars surrounding the perimeter of the show that dropped by to take a look. Terry Cole of Super Chevy Magazine drove up and took some pictures of the event. Eddie Leslie drove out from Tennessee to sell us some more of the N.O.S. goodies. All in all fun was had by everybody. I would like to personally thank Ray Shields, our illustrious Vice President for starting to roast me tubbing my 67 SS on Friday. For those of you who missed it, I feel sorry for you. It was your opportunity to take pot shots at me. The event lasted about an hour, with Wayne Bushey and his associate Dave (a.k.a. S. F.) throwing the most lines. Saturdays BBQ was excellent! A job well done to Cynthia and staff. The children's games were fun and I know everybody had fun winning something at the raffle. I think a majority of raffle participants won a prize. The cruise to Foster Freeze in Milpitas was unbelievable! Just seeing all those Novas on the freeway was quite a sight. Sunday the fun continued with the raffle gifts and the trophies. Keep an eye out for the winners in your Nova Times Magazine. After all the dust served late Sunday, we had 21 new Golden State Nova members taking our member total over 150 members. Who would have thought we would grow to the level we have from 20 members just 2 years ago. The recruiting efforts of this club are unbelievable. The club deserves a big pat on the back. I would like to thank members of the NCCN chapter, CVN chapter, SVN chapter for attending and supporting the event. We closed up shop on Sunday cleaned the parking lot and the event was over. GREAT JOB! ! !!! Jeff Piazza |
