Lyrics for the song playing: Somewhere Out There

Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through then we'll be together
Somewhere out there out where dreams come true

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there If love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there, out where dreams come true...

Age 5, Year 1922   My father was 5 years old when he first came to the United States. He came here under the name Daniel Bats with his grandfather, Jean Bats. And while waiting in line on Ellis Island his grandfather collapsed and later died in a hospital. A good samaritan then brought him to his mother in California. He lived with his mother and her husband, Charles Siedentopf, in Oakdale.... Oakdale is about 100 miles East of San Francisco.

Age 26, Year 1943   Not the best of picture to view, and it was very small (2x3). But it was signed by Papa. Picture would have been taken in San Francisco. I just might deleted this one, but papa signing this is important. Love To my Darling Wife Andre'

Age 37, Year 1954   Grandmere had come from New York for a visit so I took this picture in our front yard, on Hewitt Street, in Santa Rosa, California. This picture was scanned from a small black & white negative...The car was my brother Andre's 1949 Hudson Hornet.

Age 42, Year 1959   This is my father and Grandmere' in our back yard in Santa Rosa, California. As you can see he had his Greyhound uniform on.

pop145-1.jpg

Age 46, Year 1963   This is a small restaurant that Nanny & Papa owned, called Ruby's Kitchen. It was located next to the PacBell building on 3rd Street in Santa Rosa, California. My mother also worked at the old Topaz Room. Papa helped run the restaurant while driving the Greyhound commuter run to San Francisco. He would go in set things up, then go around the corner to drive the bus to the city. Then when he got home he would go back to the restaurant and clean the place.

Age 49, Year 1966   This is Papa in full uniform dress, it was taken at the old Greyhound Bus Depot in downtown Santa Rosa, California.

Age 50, Year 1967   This is one of our favorite pictures of Papa, it was taken in our kitchen in Santa Rosa, California. Too bad that the film I used was only Black & White Tri-X. Not the best choice for enlarging.

pop148a-1.jpg

Age 52, Year 1969   Papa, Grandpere', and Grandmere' in my Grandmere's back yard on Montgomery Drive in Santa Rosa, California. They had moved from New York to be back with us...

Age 57, Year 1974   I know it was on your trip you guys took in the RV and I'm thinking it might be somewhere in the desert maybe in Nevada....

pop151-1.jpg

Age 59, Year 1976   This was taken on the hills above the Pacific Ocean. Pictured are Roberta (age 14), Perry (age 16), Andre III (age 16), Leslie (age 10), and our Papa. Since we owned a ranch out in that area we were always out by the water.

pop152-1.jpg

Age 60, Year 1977   Papa was always working very hard, as you can see with this picture taken in August 1977 at our summer home on Tin Barn Road, near Stewarts Point, California.

pop154-1.jpg

Age 60, Year 1977   This was another picture taken in 1977, but this picture is very interesting because as I said before Papa was very hard working. He knew very little about working on cars, but if you needed help you could ALWAYS depend on him to add a helping hand. Pictured is Andre Jr (age 17), Leslie (age 11) just relaxing. Now Les is truly the auto mechanic.

pop155-1.jpg

Age 61, Year 1978   This was taken at my mother's Severance Family get together in Nampa, Idaho. On the Siedentopf side of the family was my father, my mother, and my brother Terry, who ended up being our RV driver...

Age 74, Year 1991   This was taken in August and as you can see Papa looks very hot. It was an outside wedding for Eric & Debbie at her sister's house in Sebastopol, California. As I view this picture I think to myself that my father didn't change too much over the years, and this is just about what he looked like 2 months before he passed away. Papa We sure do miss you!
