Some of my favorite activities are playing and watching tennis (don't miss many TV matches!).  I live and play in San Francisco and would consider myself around a 4.0-4.5 level player.  Mainly play at Balboa and Glen Park in the city, but do get to other courts around the city occassionally.

Always looking for hitting partners during weekdays (recently retired) and weekends in the city.  If interested, email Charlie.

FRENCH OPEN 1999

Roland Garros  Holiday ---- A Dream Come True!

While in Paris in May/June 1999, I was fortunate to obtain tickets to the 1999 French Open and attended  the 3rd day sessions of the tournament.  With tickets to the Center Court, I was able to watch the key matches there and also roam the grounds to watch matches at the outside courts (good doubles activities).  The Center Court is beautiful and the outside courts are amazing in their structure, allowing you to observe the players up close!

A most enjoyable day!

Some of the Key Players I was lucky to observe (click on picture to see full size)

Very fortunate to watch one of my favors, Gustavo Kuerten playing both Singles and doubles (doubles on an outside court which provided a very closeup view of him in actions (he's a bit taller then he appears on TV)

Watched Venus Williams in singles (Center Court) and doubles (outside court).  She and sister Serena are a powerful doubles team.  Amazed at the speed Venus displayed in court coverage and the power of her strokes.  Unfortunately, she lost in the middle rounds in singles. Got a very good look up close at Andre Agassi on Center Court in Singles.  You cannot appreciate the power and speed of his ground strokes watching TV.  Serve is great and amazing how he and others pick up the serves coming at them at that speed.
