It uses long life light emitting diodes so there are no lamps to burn out. It has an hourly chime. The hour pattern does a little dance on the hour synchronized to the chime. The seconds are in a modified binary sequence. They smoothly fade on-off creating intriguing activity. Even setting the time is entertaining. You shine a light, on the front, in special places.
