Greek
revival architecture. There's a lot of that here. This house is across
the street from a famous restaurant whose name escapes me but it is the
restaurant that Paul Proudhomme and Emeril used to be head chefs at. This
house recently sold for what in California is not a lot of money,
comparatively speaking- something like 680 K. There was once a rule here
that held that no block could hold more than four houses, so many of the
lots here are HUGE. The houses on this row here were added later
when this rule was suspended. It is hard to see, but under the balcony
the ceiling is painted blue. Most of the balcony ceilings are painted
blue as this is reputed to keep wasps and bees from building nests there-
they look up and think it is the sky. Our guide says it works really
well.
