1-Introductions: Darleen Speer , Jeff Tobes, & Penny Hutten
2-Minutes from January 19,1999
3-Boundaries of the physical area:
- Darleen Speer suggested that we use the boundaries of the old ElMolino Land grant as
borders for our town. We all agreed. She will bring to the next meeting the exact
boundaries.
5-Oral Histories:
- Penny will get in touch with the Petaluma Historical Society to get information about
how to conduct Oral Histories.
- Jeff Tobes shared information with us on the newspaper article that Tomales Historical
Society has its own Museum. He thought we could fine out if they would like to host an
"Oral History Workshop". Penny Hutten volunteered to get in touch with them .
6-Advertiseing our Historical Society :
- Darleen Speer will put ads in paper and channel 26/52 community Bulletin Board.
,Forestville Gazette, Sonoma West Times.
- Jeff Tobes will write a press release
10- Giving Oral Histories:
- Darleen Speer will interview a number of people beginning with the Davis family.
11.Mission (goals) statement:
- Permanent place to keep recorded history
- Membership
- Sharing / collaborating/ verifying
- History of Forestville is preserved (Oral history)
- Interest young people in the value of the past
12. Ideas:
- Jeff Tobes suggested a way to involve kids at the meetings by having activities
- Penny Hutten suggested we video tape the Oral histories so we could put together a Video
History of Forestville and sell it for revenue to help the finance the Historical Society.
- Jeff Tobes suggested we apply for a grant to help fund the Historical Society.
