There is no speaker for this meeting so business was discussed.
Suggestion was made that Cam Parry might do a newsletter for our organizaton...The members deserve to get something for their money... Lorraine Owen volunteered to be telephone chairman to contact the members each month with a meeting announcement.
Penny volunteered to be in charge of publicity for meetings and events, contacting newspapers, other organizations, etc. Verna will send her the list of publications in the general area with addresses and phones.
There was an announcement of a tea and movie at the West County Museum, 2:00 to 5:00 P. M. Sunday, February 13th. Donation, $10.00,
It was suggested we establish a goal to work for so our organization has "purpose". One idea was the aquisition of the Old Electric Railway Depot. The idea is to purchase it and move it to the head of the west county hiking trail as a destination from the east end of the trail and a start from the west end. Ultimately a small museum would be created inside this building containing Forestville artifacts. It was suggested we could help accomplish this with the assistance of the town of Forestville, and possibly Sonoma County. The replacement for the present owners could be built to look just like the original.
Darleen discussed fundraising. A book of Forestville History is possible with the collection of photos and historical information that Darleen, Dave Henry and others have in their possession. More interviews need to be conducted for personal stories and history. We need to aquire some tapes and some small microphones to use for interviewing long-time residents. These would also be included in the Forestville History Book Also suggested was to place the walking tour map and destinations on the web page to aquaint more people with our town.
We discussed having a parade entry in the event to benefit the Youth Park the first weekend in June. We also will want to have a booth at the Bar-B-Q that follows there after the parade.
It was reported that we have sold 54 sets of the old-time Forestville Picture Packets and that there are still more for sale ; 20 at the drugstore and 10 each at the post office, hardware store, Bank of the West, and at Frame of Mind.
