Forestville Historical Society Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Lavon Covington at 3:09 P. M.

Nine members were present.

The secretary’s report was read and approved.

The treasurer reported we had $298.00 in our treasury. One hundred dollars was added to the total by Darleen and Lavon$70.00 was from sales of pictures.

$30.00 was from new memberships $398.00 Total now in treasury.

All memberships are now due and payable for the new fiscal year. Members are encouraged to pay their dues at the September meeting, or may do so by mail before that, by sending their check for $10.00, payable to Jerry G. Hughes, Treasurer, Forestville Historical Society. Mail to: Jerry G. Hughes, 10864 River Drive, Forestville, Ca 95436-9752. Jerry also distributed an Annual Treasurer’s Report print-out for the members

Darleen told us that George Smith will be happy to have us visit his western movie style town he calls Georgetown. The date set is September 9, 2000. Call Darleen for details at : 542-3271.

New member Martin Magid said he and Peggy Magid have a costume rental service and will be happy to outfit us for our parade next year. We would rent the costumes from Peggy, and the rental money will go into our treasury. Sounds like a winning arrangement for the Society.

Saturday, July 8th the Sonoma County Heritage Network meets at 9:30 a.m.

at the Sonoma Co. Library, 3rd and E Streets. Lavon will take a copy of our by-laws to the meeting to be sure they are in accordance with the accepted Society procedure. It was voted on and approved that Jerry pay Lavon the 30.00 fee from the treasury for recording our by-laws.

Ross Yeager’s copies of the old school pictures are ready for us. We discussed whether there should be a cap on the funds used for historic pictures that we aquire for our archives.

Penny was asked if she could update the membership list so we could all have a new copy in September.

We voted to discontinue summer meetings in July and August.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, September 3, 2000.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
