From ggvideo@northnet.org Wed Dec 8 19:26:41 1999 Date: Tue, 7 Dec 1999 22:10:21 -0500 From: Paul Connett To: wastenot@northnet.org Subject: IFIN-BULLETIN #20 More on NTP and Marcus firing. INTERNATIONAL FLUORIDE INFORMATION NETWORK DEC 7, 1999. BULLETIN #20 MORE ON NTP CANCER STUDY AND MARCUS FIRING. Dear All, In response to bulletin #19, Jane Jone ( National Pure Water Association, UK) writes: "For the benefit of people on my circulation here (who might now know), Dr William Marcus was fired from EPA for a whistle-blowing memo calling for a review of the cover-up of the National Toxicological Program study that shows fluoride is a "probable human carcinogen". That finding alone would prohibit the addition of fluoride to the public water supply. Although Dr Marcus won his whistle-blower lawsuit, with punitive damages and returned to work at the EPA, the classifications were never reviewed." Jane also added, "Re your first para. Procter and Gamble DID find osteosarcomas in their study. - John Yiamouyiannis had to use the Freedom of Information Act to get at the study. See "Fluoride the Aging Factor", p85.` Here is the section that Jane is referring to: "In 1989, Dr. Yiamouyiannis used the Freedom of Information Act to obtain carcinogenicity studies with sodium fluoride performed by Procter and Gamble and submitted to - but covered up by - the U.S. Public Health Service. These studies showed dose-dependent increases in ameloblastic squamous cell dysplasias (cell abnormalities which signal a transformation into a cancerous cell). These results were reported in the February 22, 1990 issue of the Medical Tribune. Aditional studies by Procter scientists confirmed the link between these precancerous growths and fluoride...In addition they found bone cancers and tumors in rats fed fluoride, but not in untreated rats." From, "Fluoride The Aging Factor", by Dr. John Yiamouyiannis, Health Action Press, 6439 Taggart Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015, Third Edition, 1993, page 85. John has not been too well. If you have appreciated his fantastic contribution to this cause, please drop him a line and wish him a speedy recovery. Sincerely, Paul Connett.
