Skunk Train Pictures
30 July 98

My friends Craig & Kathy Hribar and their youngest daughter, Kathryn, spent part of their Northern California vacation with Ms Becky & me. We meet them in Fort Bragg on 29 July and we all rode the famous Skunk Train on 30 July from Fort Bragg to Willits and back. The train ride is very relaxing and the scenery is great especially on the western end through parts of the costal redwood forest. I'd do this again but would pick the half day tour which turns around at North Spur and returns to Fort Bragg after about a 4 hour round trip.

We purchased a $275 train package for two through:

Seabird Lodge
191 South St
Fort Bragg , Ca 95437
Phone: 707/964-4731
Fax: 707/961-1779

which includes the round trip Skunk Train ride, 2 nights lodging, two $13 certificates for breakfast and a $30 certificate for dinner good a choice of 3 breakfast and 3 dinner establishements in Fort Bragg. We had excellent dinners at The Wharf (one of the 3 possible dinner restaurant choices) and the Cliff House (accepts Sonoma Express cards FYI Somona Country locals).

These pictures are the first 'field trials' using my new Epson PC 550 digital camera. I am very happy with the macro-mode pictures, see the close-ups of Kathryn, but there must be a trick to getting a good focus using the standard lens?
