When I use the word numinous, I have in mind the experience of
directly perceiving the spirit realm, such as what happened to the
Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos ( Rev. 1:9-20). Emotions may occur
as a result of this, but I am not referring to them when I speak of
the numinous.
The primary source of the numinous ( the way I use the word) is
external - it is a gift of God ( "And Elisha prayed, and said, "Lord,
I pray, open his eyes that he may see." 2 Kings 6:16-17).
I think we are saying much the same thing. I just wanted to make a
distinction beween things which we perceive with our spirits, and our
human feelings.
With best regards,
Terry
