Re Sources for the 813 list

===============================================================================

From : Andrew Wilson

The Classics Pages are at http://www.globalnet.co.uk/~loxias Thanks for taking time to write. I have a feeling that the list is not in it itself Classical - all there are items on it that Aristotle and certainly Cicero would have approved. Others seem definitely Judaeo-Christian in inspiration. The standard belief of the ancient world (attacked by Plato and subsequent philosophers) was that it is man's most precious duty to help his friends and harm his enemies: neglect of either would lead to social failure and loss of honour.
