The pain in my jaw/teeth/whatever returned the other day with a vengeance. I just got back from the doctor, where I was given antibiotics, thank zog...but until they work, evidently I am going to alternate between being in so much pain I can't think straight, and being so drugged on painkillers that I can barely stay awake.
Right now I fall in between the two: I'm barely awake from drugs, *and* in a lot of pain. This sucks beyond all belief.
I also had one of those frustrating conversations with the doctor at Kaiser...
Doctor: Have you been using saline nasal spray?
Me: No, my nasal passages are deformed, sprays don't go anywhere.
Doctor: *peers up nose with a medical instrument* Yes, you do certainly have abnormalities, that is probably what is causing all of these infections. If it happens again, I'll refer you to an ENT.
Me: Why not just refer me now?
Doctor: Because we can't be sure it will recur.
Me: I've had this problem intermittently my whole life, it WILL recur.
Doctor: Well, let's see how things go. Do you need a refill on nasal spray?
Me: No, like I told you, I can't use it!
Doctor: Even if very little gets up there, you should be trying.
I was too tired to argue further....but man, Kaiser really does drive me totally nuts at times.

I have an attachment for my water pick that gently squirts salt water up one nostril, and it flows out the other, then you go through the other nostril. Even though it didn't go everywhere, it did clean a good bit of crud out.
I even had sinus surgery to widen my sinus passages, and still got infections. What cured it is going off any kind of sugar and carbohydrate (atkins diet). YMMV.
