Doing my morning surfing, I came across this article at Wired talking about the new rule at airports mandating that every single passenger turn on every electronic device to prove it's not a bomb/weapon, plus doing analysis to make sure that there haven't been explosive chemicals nearby. On ALL of them.
This is becoming totally ludicrous... The security lines are going to go from being an annoyance to a serious PITA. Especially in the Bay Area, where the majority of residents flying out are, like me, tech nuts. I carry a minimum of equipment for a trip, which involves a PDA, notebook computer, and digital camera...sure, only takes a few minutes to check that stuff, but a few minutes multiplied by a flight full of passengers is going to cause massive traffic jams at security.
Grrr. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad I have no plans to visit my partner... I wonder what the already-struggling airlines are supposed to do when even more people decide that airport security really is too much of a hassle to bother traveling.
