Just as an offhand comment, after a long obnoxious day -- there's a really interesting discussion over at Slashdot right now. The topic is basically the "movement" against dedicating all of one's spare hours to one's career on top of a full-time job, with intelligent comments on both sides.

The only really irritating part is that a large portion of the people that have been able to cut back on their hours did so (and were probably *able* to do so) because they had kids.
