Well, looks like my neck-scoliosis has won out yet again! *grumble* I slept on it wrong a few nights ago, causing the usual muscular spasms the next day. However, this time, along with my neck misbehaving, my right shoulder (upper arm) somehow was injured. I can't lift it very far, and because it's part of the basic support structure for my arm, being upright at all is painful! :-(
The chiropractor said we should do monthly adjustments to prevent the scoliosis from worsening -- and given how it *has* worsened appreciably over the years both in curve and result (times of numb limbs, pain, etc.), I'm in agreement. I need to look into what else can be done at my age to keep it under control.
Posted by moggy at November 19, 2003 06:09 PM | TrackBackCan you excercise the muscles of your neck and back? There was a guy where I used to work that had the disks between his vertebrae disintegrate, and he built up his neck and back muscles to help hold the bones in place. As far as I know, it did help him.
My mother takes a glucosamine supplement to build up her joints - that might help also.
Posted by: Matt on November 19, 2003 07:43 PMHi,
My daughter has scoliosis to the very extreme. She's had surgeries. After she had the old style of surgery they invented a new kind. It is supposed to be (last time I checked) much less dangerous etc.
My vote is that you look into surgery, don't do it if it is a bad deal, but in my daughter's case the scoliosis just kept getting worse and worse...
Her's may be from an intirely different source, so maybe there is no comparison. Still I hope that you will look into it in case it would work for you.
