Cognitive Delays and Developmental Disorders:Children diagnosed with mental retardation, pervasive developmental disorder, autism, attention deficit disorder, or various syndromes may demonstrate cognitive delays which interfere with their learning. They may have difficulty absorbing new information, assimilating it with concepts they understand, or demonstrating the knowledge that they do possess. Children with these challenges may benefit from certain types of assistive technology, which we will describe here.
