Tony(Tj) Got reviewed by Mtv!
Scott here, I was over at Tony's site and found a link to this review of his latest album: Awesome!! Spellbound by Greatness It might be a sister, a friend or maybe even a cousin, but someone has a copy of a release worthy of placement in a time capsule. The band was MCC, and the record a self-titled effort on Walt Disney Records in 1993. It began the recording careers of TONY LUCCA and 'N SYNC's JC Chasez. Ravaging through the closets and Disney stores across America, it is still possible to find this spark that started it all. Flash forward to 1999. TONY LUCCA is on his own for time with the release of Strong Words, Softly Spoken. Pulling influences from popular, blues and western genres, Keri Russell's real-life Prince Charming shares his deepest thoughts and emotions in a passionate and pleasing way. Having grown up as part of the all-star "Mickey Mouse Club," Lucca has carved his own niche in a market saturated with sound-alike beats from Swedish producers. Because he penned his own melodies, the lyrics speak with class and sincerity virtually void in today's standard ballads. The poppish, romanticized "Honestly For You" takes listeners for a ride with uplifting lyrics and soothing stylings performed by the one and only Lucca. The blues-influenced "Melancholy Collar" is a picker-upper with inspirational clauses riddled inbetween tight riffs, while the deeply emotional "Too Late" tumbles through forests of unquenchable desire with the caress of the guitar. The piano sprinkled keys of "It's You" are painted with lyrics of longing for love across the miles. Hitting all the high notes with the heartfelt ballad "Hold You Tonight," Lucca softly sings, "Whatever peace you offer is peace I've come to find." A major highlight of the release is the Western influence of "After All." Finding themes in the dreams of boys and girls by comparing cowboys and princes, Lucca explores the heavier topic of abuse. The bluesy "Make It Alright" takes on light guitars overpowered by Lucca's impassioned vocals. Following suit are the strummed chords defining "Crown Love King," which tackles the themes of politics, war and environmentalism. Dwindling melodies on the ballad "Kind," starring former "Mouse Club" alumnus DALE GODBOLDO on background vocals, climax at the chorus. (Side note: former Mouseketeer Marc Worden designed the cover art.) Lucca teams up with C.C. WHITE on "The Only One" for a tender reflection highlighted with an operatic capacity. trong Words, Softly Spoken is a CD filled with enlightenment. Listening to its soft melodies and gentle musings will coddle listeners into a sudden peace generated through the comforts of unconditional love. No wonder Russell thanked him in her Golden Globe acceptance speech. Find out more about TONY LUCCA by logging onto: www.tonylucca.com -- Valerie Nome MTV Local Stringer feedlocal@mtvmail.com (March 11, 1999) As of today's date you can see the review on Mtv's web site. Just click Music Television to go there. Way to go Tony!!!! Another little update: I've added a link or two to the links page. One of the links is to a new Gallery on our website that currently features some of my mom's work. (It's the gallery link). Ok, see ya, Love, -Scott P.S. I just found a bug on the web-site that I think has been here for a week! Very sorry!!!!! If you've tried to add something in the last week or so and it didn't go through please try again! I just fixed the bug. - Thursday, March 25, 1999 at 18:54:34 (PST) Author: sstevens@santarosa.edu |
Hello from the new family of 5!
Hi everyone! Thanks for all ther great letters (and phone calls) last week on the birth of new baby Michael! He's a great baby, and the girls cannot get enough of him! He looks just like his Daddy, too. They have the same hairline! Isn't it amazing how having a child with someone-I mean literally- giving birth with the help of the one that you love-makes everything come into focus, and seem so wonderful again. It's so hard to put into words, but I saw a side of Michael (Big Mike) that I always knew was there, but it's saved for special occasions! He is sooooo great! I'm so glad that he waited so long to find me. I only wanted to share this with all of you because I think everyone thinks of Mike as the funny guy. Well, he sure is fun to have around, but he is also the most wonderful, giving person that I've ever met. Anyway. (Are these just postpartum hormones raging, or what?) We got a little bad news today also. My nephew, Kyle who lives in Cincinnati, has double bacterial pneumonia. He's almost 7, and he's in Children's Hospital down there, and he's not getting any better. He's on 3 different antibiotics, and needs oxygen at night. His parents are recently divorced, but working well together to stay by his side. Can the power of this wonderful family send some thoughts and prayers his way? Thanks everyone. We love you all! Happy St. Patty's Day one and all!!!
Dear every one, Hi there ya'all. I finally found the letter's Dad and what great fun it was to read them all. Well I didn't read all of them but I read quite a few. Congradulations Mike and Debbie on new baby Micheal and Tom and Easter on your new Grandson. I love being able to find out all the family stuff. Nancey things sound great in your families life. Everyone thank you for welcoming me to the circle letter. I'm trying to get Jimmy B. to join up. T.J., THANK YOU for my CD. I love it! You sound great! The song you played at Amy and Matt's wedding is SO cool. Things are going well with me. I'm very busy as always. In fact I'm at work right now, and I'm getting ready to leave so I can go drink green beer. Hay, I always wondered, are we Irish?? Jenny, when is your wedding date? Well everyone I'm going to go now. I'll write again soon. And Have a Happy St. Patricks Day. God bless you. Thanks Scott you're the coolest. I love you all, Beth Stevenson - Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at 13:06:54 (PST) Author: bs63sings@aol.com |
SCOTT THIS SITE IS SO COOL!!!
As I began to write this letter the computer did a very strange thing. It forced me to use the new text editer to write this letter. It works great. This must be very brief. NANCY AND BRIEN HUSSEY, Where are you? We miss you. Lil' Nan will you talk to your mother, maby give her a helping hand adding a letter to the Web. BETH STEVENSON, Have you had any luck finding the Circle Letters? BROTHER DAN, You keep me laughing my butt off! Next time you talk to brother Bob ask him if he has seen the Circle Letter on the web. A short letter would be nice. Ya Bob, Howboutit. TJ, Scott put one of your new tunes on our computer useing some new high teck stuff. Sounds great! TOM AND ESTER, You have the greatest kids (and grandkids). I still havent allowed time to read all the letters here on the web. Shame on Me! I've read a few though and I love them! I'll write more soon. Like Star says to me everyonce and a while, Seeeeeeeee ya! Love you all James [:-)> p.s. This text editor is fantastic. - Sunday, March 14, 1999 at 20:54:30 (PST) Author: sunshine@sonic.net |
Some Revisions Done To the Site!
Hello Folks! , Wow, empty letter eh? Well don't fret just click on the letter 1 archive link up above and you shall see the original letters! The amount of letters was getting too big so I've started an archive. I'm going to automate the archive process soon enough but for now I've just done it by hand. I've made some changes (again) to the letter submission process....now when you submit your preview letter to the BIG LETTER you get a little status report of what the web-site is doing with your letter. This alleviates that wondering...of whether or not everything went right with your submission of the letter. I've also begun to work on an automated system for displaying pictures. I'm beginning to amass a number of photos and it's a lot of work to make pages for them all so I should be able to work out a semi-automated program that will display pictures plus some information about the pictures. I'll keep everyone posted about that. Just out of curiousity...how is the new PREVIEW system for you folks....does that seem to help? If you have any suggestions about the web-site please don't hesitate to send me some e-mail at: sstevens@santarosa.edu I must tell you folks....thank you very much for all of the compliments regarding the site....it's really appreciated!!! (plus it spurs me on to do more ;-) Hey, if anyone has any recording of family events or muscial performances (Grandpa & Grandma singing etc.) Please send off a copy to me at this address: Scott Stevenson 2080 Corby Ave. Santa Rosa, CA 95407 I've discovered this awesome thing called MP3 which is a file format for sound on computers that makes really good quality sound (near CD) in relatively small files. This format (or one like it) is soon to become the standard (much like CDs) for sound in the world. It's really something impressive and sooooo easy. In fact there are portable players (much like walkmans) for MP3 sound files that essentially allow you to download music off of the internet and take it with you. You can find out more about it here: www.diamondmm.com/rio/ Well, I'd like to put some of our music up on the site so that all online family members can have their own collection of family music. Ok, It's great to hear from everyone...keep posting letters!!! Much love, -Scott - Saturday, March 13, 1999 at 13:28:47 (PST) Author: sstevens@santarosa.edu |
