of it, Rome seems truly overwhelmingly full of memorable

Aunt Nanc- I really do love you, now sit down for an hour
and have a cup of coffee to really enjoy- Life can be so
stressful sometimes, can't it!

Hello again, all my loved ones:
We are overjoyed at the results of Brian's heart cath
yesterday and I want to express my thanks to all of you
for your love and prayers. Brian is grateful to this
loving family and thanks to you, Scott, we have a vehicle
to express our thoughts from all over the world.
The weapon of prayer is stronger than any illness and I
for one continually lift up each and everyone who is
afflicted in any way whether it be a cold or cancer or any
serious sickness. We need to fight the good fight of
faith every day!
Lou and I can share a little in your excitement of your
trip to Rome, Tom and Jeanne. We went there in the spring
of 1989 and I will never forget it although our time there
was too short. We followed a wonderful tour group and
listened in on so much history. We were in awe most of
the time. When I first laid eyes on the colliseum, I
immediately thought of the terrible things that went on
there because of the early Christians' belief in Jesus.
It became so much more real and it's hard to believe it's
still standing.
You're right about the people and the food. We met some
great people and ate real Italian pizza. Their crust was
quite thin. I remember the driving! People just tooted
their horns and it was survival of the fittest! I'll have
to refer to my journal again to revive more memories.
When Gramma and I went to the Holy Land it was a privilege
and awe-filled as well. We saw graves of the prophet
Hosea and Malachi. We even saw DAVID'S tomb. That was a
real highlight...not to mention that we both were baptized
in the River Jordan. Bethlehem, Nazareth, the via
Dolorosa was all a part of this awesome tour and I wish
everyone could go there in their lifetime. Our Christian
heritage is the most precious gift we have and it's
awesome to travel to these places where Jesus and the
Apostles Peter and Paul walked and preached the gospel.
Thanks for sharing about it. At Christmastime we'll talk
more.

I too would love to see uncle Brian getting 'Jiggy' with it....hehe. It will be
nice to see that dance at the Creek this coming December when I'm
there for cousin Ben's wedding.

What an amazing time we had in Rome.
It's not a city one goes to vacation or merely to visit. It's a
city to experience... spiritually. The deep and lively
history added to the drama and impact of how this holy
city affected our hearts.
Seeing the Pope was such a thrill, his blessing in St.
Peters square, his Wednesday audience and
attending a papal mass (along with 10,000 of our
closest friends) inside St. Peter's Sunday 10/17. He
dedicated this year (Oct 2004-Oct 2005) as the year of
the Eucharist at that mass. When the Pope gave his
blessing to all in St. Peter's Square he extended it to all
of our family members back home! So you were
blessed too!
It is amazing there... so rooted in Christ.
The presence of the saints was so tangible - images of
Sts. Peter and Paul were everywhere. Learning the
history of their martyrdom at Nero's circus and what he
did to Christians on what is now the site of St. Peter's
Square and the Vatican, was eye opening. We did not
know that St. Peter was buried on the side of "Vatican
Hill" - a pagan burial site (it was illegal to bury
Christians then, so they had to hide his tomb there)
outside the city walls of Rome in 64 A.D.
Centuries later, Constantine moved 1,000,000 cubic
feet of dirt to level the hill so he could build a monument
directly on top of the grave of St. Peter... the rock on
whom Jesus built His church, most literally. The main
altar of St. Peter's Basilica is directly over his tomb,
which lies a few stories below the main level of the
church. Archeologists say without a doubt, that these
are the bones of St. Peter. Graffiti (even then they had
it) states on the wall from ancient times, "Peter is in
here." The cemetery surrounding this wall was
discovered very recently (1939) and is incredible too. It's
like a real city down under St. Peter's - narrow walkways
with rooms (family tombs) lined in beautiful mosaics
and paintings. There are dates on various tombs which
have allowed archeologists to date the progression of
levels below the altar of St. Peter's. This tour to teh
actual gravesite of St. Peter - the Scavi tour - was one of
our highlights, as was a private tour of the Sistine
Chapel - Wow!
If you can't tell, this had deeply impacted us. : ) It's
amazing history not many people learn about. If you
ever go to Rome - you need to get tickets for this - the
Scavi tour - about a month ahead of time. Try to get a
seminarian to lead your tour group, if possible.
There were many more amazing elements to Rome.
Aside from the religious, their way of life is wonderfully
relaxed and opposite of our fast-paced, ulcer-inducing
culture. The meals were enjoyable, nice l o n g dinners,
the food was fabulous, especially the gelato (ice
cream)! Walking was a necessity - one day we walked
for seven hours! It was hard to find an overweight Italian
in Rome -walking keeps them in shape.
It was an incredible pilgrimage. I hope this gives you a
hint of what we experienced. Sorry for the length, there
is just so much to share and it's so hard to write it all
out.
All else is great here! The kids are doing well and I
LOVE having a collie - he is so awesome!
So much to be thankful for!

indeed... and that LOVE comes straight from HEAVEN above!!
I truly believe that MOM taught us ALL how to LOVE each
other (by her example) through her loving relationship with
Jesus Christ and trusting in HIS LOVE to help us all!!! I
know He has his hand on Brian right now and the power of
HIS LOVE (along with our faith and trust in Him)can only
bring Brian THE PEACE THAT PASSES UNDERSTANDING till his
strength returns!!!
There will certainly be prayers going up for Gregg and Brad
too... And any of us who have been sick with colds(Janie
and Jim), ear infections ( baby Conner) and all the stuff
that tries to "get" us!!! It's wonderful to know that with
this HUGE family of ours~ THE POWER of our FAITH,LOVE AND
HOPE is simply EXTRORDINARY!!! So thank you Jesus for
answered prayers! And Sarah Jane~ you were not
misunderstood...your letter was AWESOME! (and I'm not just
saying this because you are my daughter) YOU ROCK!! Keep it
coming!! I love you and I love this INCREDIBLE family...

This is great news
Boy this has really been going around. Both of our boys had
very serious colds. Gregg had walking pneumonia and was
down for more then he has ever been in his working career
and the same goes for Brad. Brad never misse work but this
cold did him in.
Well the prayers will not stop just because we have good
news. Until Brian is singing an Irish Jig our prayers will
be there.
We love you Brian and we need you around for a very long
time.

I just got off the phone with Nancy at the hospital and Brian does not
need heart surgery. He still has some pneumonia left in his body but it is
slowly improving every day. Needless to say Nancy is very happy (as we all
are) with the medical results. It just go to show you the power of love! I'll let
you know any new developments.

Hey There sweet, amazing, faithful Aunt Nancy,
I just want to let you know that I have been praying for
you both ever since I found out about this lull in Uncle
Brians health.... What everyone is saying is so amazingly
true- The Lord has done some pretty crazy things in our
family. We have been through a full circle time and time
again. I guess the only thing I can say is that he has
shown us that it may not be easy at the time if we do not
lean on Him because only He can bring us through the rough
spots that come to surface in our lives! I would love for
you to know that I am and will keep praying, Aunt Nanc,
for every aspect of this time (for you and Uncle Brian), I
pray for peace, patience, healing, strength, and obviously
much, much more!!
I would also love to bring us to the ground for a sec, and
I truly do not mean to bring a negative side to all of
this,so forgive me if it comes off like so, but I am
praying for understanding and endurance in all of our
faith at this time as well. Sometimes the Lord challanges
us and presents tests in our lives to strengthen us on the
inside. In any small case that a result happens that we do
not agree with or are satisfied with, I pray that we all
can keep in mind and remind ourselves that EVERYTHING is
apart of his ENORMMOUS PLAN, and that his will needs to be
done. Many times in our journeys it is so easy to forget
and start to get discouraged in our faith.Thus, I will
keep pray for an AMAZING REPORT and a miracle, but in the
same voice I am praying for understanding of Gods amazing
plan and will. I would also like to take a second to thank
you Aunt Nancy for being such a bright light for everyone
and never losing your faith and being so strong. If there
is anyone in this world that I would stop everything in my
crazy buysy days, to pray for (for ANY length of time) it
would be for you and Uncle Brian. Not that I don't pray
for my family always, but I think you all understand what
I am expressing...
I will not stop praying for you both. I love you sooo
much and I am sure the entire family can not wait to pull
out strong with you so that you two can return back to
normal.

small voices... God listens to ALL the varieties of our
praying styles... Isn't is INCREDIBLE to know we can go to
the Lord 24/7 with our concerns... Trying to type out about
it almost seems inadequate!!!
We have been involved in a series at our church
(orchardgrove.org) called GYM FOR THE SOUL and it has been
AMAZING to say the least...
In short~ it's about how the whole world is consumed with
fitness and health for THE BODY (and that IS a good thing)
yet how much more should we be concerned about fitness for
our INNER SELF...
I am SO GRATEFUL to you NANCY for opening my eyes to the
LORD...YOU are the one who truly changed my life's course
for ETERNITY and I would go to the ends of the earth to
pray for ANY of your concerns...You want prayer? YOU GOT
IT!!!

Hello again, everyone!
Tom, I liked your letter that began FROM TOM. That way I
didn't have to scroll down to see whom the letter was from
as I usually do.....not to mention how nice it was to hear
from you the good news from Maryland. It was a good news
day all the way around, that's for sure!
I'm writing to all my loved ones out there, asking you to
pray for Brian this weekend. He's been under the weather
for at least a month now. He was diagnosed with atrial
fibrillation (arythmia) on October 2nd. To complicate
matters, he developed pneumonia about two weeks ago. The
doctors have been trying to treat him without
hospitalization but his recovery has been so slow that it
was finally decided last Tuesday that he should have a
heart cathiterization to see if there are any blocked
arteries. We're hoping this is not the case; but if
there's one or two clogged arteries he would then have
angioplasty. If more than two, they would keep him and he
would most likely have bypass surgery again. He had a
single bypass in 1978 which needless to say was very
successful.
I know the power of prayer and how it changes things, so
I'm asking that you pray for a good report on Friday and
for a speedy recovery. God has blessed our family in ways
too numerous to count and I know we are all so grateful to
Him for being with us when we go through storms; He always
brings us through.
I will keep you posted and thanks. It's so geat to have
such a wonderful network of prayer warriors to rely on.

Hello to my wonderful family.
With the holidays just around the corner,let's take time
to thank God for his many blessings He has bestowed on
this family.Thank you for your many prayers for our
Danny.He goes back to work next week.So things on the
Eastern Shore are good. Jill will fill you in on the

This Halloween I will be taking all my
Salisbury grandchildren trick or treating , I will
decorate my trailer with hay bales, pumpkins and scary
lights and sounds, it is also calling for good
weather here.Wish you were here.
As most of you know, my job at Pulte has has kept me on
the road during the week for the last seven years, but
that is going to change starting in January. Pulte has
come to the Eastern Shore,only about an hour from my
house,so I will be home every night. Thank you Jesus!This
will give me time to get things done around the house and
give me time to work on my Model A .For those of you who
did not know, I have a 1930 Model A pick up truck.I have
restored the entire frame,engine and am now working on the
body. Jim Nichols has refinishd and painted the
fenders,the running boards,splash aprons,side splashes
radiator splash apron. All I can say is THE MAN is an
artist.The only way I can explain what they look
like,would be to say they look like patent leather shoes.
Once I get it
finished I will take pictures and put them on the circle
letter. My kids said I needed a hobby,so now I have one.

Hello wonderful family! This is our first ever written
letter on the website together, how exciting! Married life
couldn't be better! I know that all of you other newlyweds
must be enjoying it as much as we are. Recently we were
told that some thank you notes were no received. If for
some chance you didn't receive one, please know that we
greatly appreciate all that everyone has done for us and
noone has gone unnoticed. We also thank you for your
continuous prayers. We wish that we could make it to more
of the family gatherings than what we have lately, being
that Shelley's health has been up and down, but not to be
concerned about. God has truly blessed us with all that we
could ever need. I have been working at Mesquite Creek and
going to school LOTS! I'm still planning on coaching
wrestling, if time will allow. You all know that I'd go
crazy if I couldn't participate atleast a little here and
there. I'm going to Eastern Michigan University right now
and hopefully will be student teaching winter of 2005 and
have my degree by 2006. Shelley is still freelancing
(Graphic Design), working at the Travel Club, and has
decided to become an independent representative for Avon.
(Which we are both loving!) Hopefully when we decide to
have children she will be able to have her dream of working
from home and being home with the kids at the same time.
Of course I would love for her to do that. We're hoping
that the freelancing and Avon will make that possible. I
have no doubt in my mind that she can achieve whatever
goals she sets. Of course if your interested, she can be
your personal avon lady:) We are extremely excited for all
of you who are getting close to that Big Day! We know that
God will bless all of you and make all of your dreams for
that special day come true. We can't wait to celebrate
with all of you! We will try to continue to write as often
as we can and keep all of you posted. We love and miss
you all.

MANY AMAZING THINGS FOR ME TO WRITE ABOUT,I WAS EXCITED TO
RECIEVE MY FIRST GRADED DRAWING BACK FROM MY PROFFESSOR AT
CCS. HE GAVE ME A "C" ON A STILL LIFE I TURNED IN. I MEAN
I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER WORKED SO HARD FOR A C IN MY
LIFE! :) BUT HE DID GIVE ME SOME
EXTREMELY GOOD CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM AND ADVICE TO GET
BETTER. AND LIKE MY DAD SAID, I HAVE ROOM TO GET BETTER
AND MOVE UP NOW... STAY TUNED FOR MORE ADVENTURES AND

you greetings from this far away place [well it's not as
far away as it used to be....hehe]
Well thanks Star [exclamation point...this damn Italian
keyboard won't let me type one....even though I can see
it.]
Zip called me last week and suggested that I come and hang
out with him here in Milan for my birthday while he was
here for a Fashion Exposition where his lines are being
shown. I arrived yesterday morning on an overnight train
ride from Paris. It was nice to be with family [Zip] on my
b-day. I got a nice happy birthday recital via phone from
mom and dad which was really cool and then Jerry called
this morning to wish me a happy birthday as well. So your
letter was a nice compliment to those previous b-day
greetings.
Wow, this city is all about fashion with clothing shops,
etc. on EVERY city block. It's fairly impressive and one
can see clearly why Milan is such a fashion capital. I'll
be here until Monday evening and then I'll return home to
Paris. Zip is busy today at the Hollywood Trading Company
stand but we're planning on hanging out and doing some
site seeing probably tomorrow and Monday.
Wow, I hope that our family wins the lottery...that would
be so cool...
It's funny how the family website's circle letter goes
through these spurts of activity.... Good to see you
getting active here Sarah Jane :-] Congrats to all of the
family members bringing new members to our
flock...wow...we're getting bigger and bigger by the
moment. So Ben, how goes the wedding planning?? I'm really
looking forward to being there in December.
I'm bummed that I missed Cole's wedding...but
unfortunately with my having attended Jeff's wedding, the
timing couldn't have been worse for me.
Nice to see a letter from you Jill, I've been wondering
about Danny. I hope all goes well on the 18th.

Hi everyone! First, let me congratulate all of the
newlyweds whose weddings we so unfortunately missed. We
really tried our best to make it out for each one, but
things have been pretty crazy this past year, so I hope a
sincere "We're sorry" might help us come off looking a
little better. I understand that there are a couple more
Big Days coming up; and we are really trying to make it
out for at least one (provided we're invited). If anyone
has dates, please let us know.
If you're not too tired of praying for our Danny, I'm now
asking for another round. On Oct. 18th, he will be having
surgery to remove a benign (that's good) tumor on his
spinal cord (for you scholarly types, it's called a
Schwannoma). It's something that was stumbled upon during
some other testing-- as far as we know, it's not causing
any symptoms. Normally, this is something that would be
left alone, and monitored for changes or growth,
periodically. However, Danny's doctors couldn't find any
other cases (they checked worldwide registries) where a
person with a tumor received a kidney transplant. (He's a
one-of-a-kind guy!) So, they've decided to remove it. So,
please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
On a lighter note, I just want to be the first to
say "Happy Birthday" to my baby. Can you believe
Anita "Grace" will be 1 year old tomorrow?!! They say it
goes by fast, but this is ridiculous! I really can't wait
for all of you to meet her-- she is such a sweetheart. I
loved being with her so much that I left my job a couple
months ago to stay home with her. I absolutely love it. I
am now a consultant for The Pampered Chef (for those of you
who haven't heard of the company-- I hold in-home parties
where I sell kitchen tools to make cooking fun and
easier.) I make my own schedule; and I'm really
enjoying it. If anyone is interested in having a party, we
can work something out long-distance. Sorry about the
commercial, but I could use any help I can get, if it means
spending time with my daughter. Anyway, thanks for

Happy birthday to the youngest James Stevenson of the
family! Also happy birthday to Chris. What a beautiful
week we've been having for all these birthdays!
Also, congratulations to all of you in Alabama for giving
us our new Miss America. I can't remember ever having
Miss Michigan for our Miss America.
There's so much excitement going on in the family!
Showers, weddings, babies coming...so much to thank God
for and pray about. There's never a week that goes by
that I don't especially lift up Kelly, Shelley, Danny and
Chris. It's a time for miracles and divine visitation so
everyone needs to get on the bandwagon and look for great
and mighty things to happen in the very near future.
Congratulations to Erin Stevenson and her soon-to-be
husband. May you have a beautiful day on Saturday and a
blessed life together!
Looking forward to the next big celebration of Gary and
Cassandra's wedding. Any out of towners coming? That
would be cool.
All is well in the Boudreau/Hussey contingency. No real
BIG news yet....but our turn is coming.

third and fourth generations down from Mom and Dad won't
know who anybody is!
Speaking of Mom... happy 83rd birthday in rememberance of
MOM~ the most wonderful person we ever knew...wish the
third and fourth generations could've had the chance to get
to know her!!!!!
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to SWEET NANCY~ 62 tomorrow~ and then
CHRISSY (also VERY sweet) ~ 47 on Thursday...hope your days

So Happy Birthday to all I've EVER missed...
I never did write how AMAZING Cole and Amy's wedding was
for those of you who couldn't make it... we truly missed
you all and Sally and Tony's home was like FANTASY
ISLAND!!!! The Lord blessed them with picture perfect
weather~ not a cloud in the sky...not too hot~not too cold
or breezy...ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! And a HUGE thanks again
to ALL who made it possible!!!
I need to ask Scott how to post the WEDDING PHOTOS on
THE CIRCLE LETTER ...the current section of photos has
never been updated and it's probably because no one knows
how to do it ....
So~ SCOTT TO THE RESCUE!!!!!
Cole is back in the studio recording a new CD and we heard
some scratch tracks from it..they are so cool I can't wait
for the finished product to come out!!! We'll keep you
posted~
John's Mom is living with us and she is recovering well
from her Lung surgery...with NO DESIRE whatsoever to smoke
and she doesn't even ask for coffee which she used to drink
about 10 cups a day before she got sick!!! So that in
itself is a miracle because she smoked a carton a week for
about 60 years!!! Praise the Lord!
I am still managing the Milford office of OPTIMEYES and
John is still in building Mgmt. at AMERISURE in Farmington
Hills... he is on a family medical leave to take care of
his Mom ..her short term memory is not good but the doctor
says it's because of the trauma from being in the hospital
for 19 days and the major surgery... so we'll see~ She
doesn't even remember the surgery AT ALL or being in the
hospital! In a way she came back a different person....
mostly for the good but we'll have to keep an eye on the
short term memory loss...
Well~ it's been awhile since I've written and this is very
long so I will close and say I LOVE YOU ALL...

James is the sweetest little baby in the world...AND the

Cody is a wonderful big brother...he'll be 7 on the 11th of
October ( he was only three when Cole and Amy first started

Hello all of my lovely family members,
Sarah Jane here just to drop everyone a line and to get in on this
family communication tool...finally!
I have recently started at CCS, College for Creative Studies, this
fall, and am a lttle crazy and overwhelmed by the load of the
Interior Design program, and the new surrondings but as most
schools, it too depends on staying up to date with e-mail and such
so I am checkig my e-mail more often, which means there is now
officially no reason for me not to read those "NEW LETTER" e-
mails and contribute to this stuff right!! :) You know you all may
laugh as I say "old" but, As I am getting old (-er), I am realizing that
It's our turn now to keep the family love in the air. It's so crazy to
wake up one morning, 20, and realize that when an invitation says
"bring a dish to pass" or "RSVP", it means that I really have to do
all of that stuff. I am wayyyyyyy too old too still be
sliding in the party depending on my mom to have brought a dish,
leaving my responsibility in the car!!! hahaahh My point is, I DON'T
WANT TO BE OUT OF THE LOOP ANYMORE....our family Rocks
and we need to make sure it stays that way. So, bottom line
HELLO EVERYONE, all is well here just a little stressed out from
school, but things are great. I chopped my hair off last month
leaving me the last of the girls to cut my hair and dye it black....
don't worry It doesn't look GOTH! But, I miss you all so very much
and can't wait to see those of you who will be at Gary's wedding.
By the way, Nick and I set the date too.....yeah!......(I hope) he's
planning on purposing around Christmas!!!! hahahahah Just
kidding but keep your ears open, if we want to get married by
2006, he better get a move on the whole purposal.... I guess that's
supposed to come first right?!

Happy Anniversary to Dan and Nan and tomorrow to Bob and
Diane. I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a
disc that has all of the pictures that our professional
photographer took at Jeff and Shelley's wedding. If anyone
want to order any pictures, you can view them online but I
will have to get the web address how to view them. You do
not have to order through the studio as Jeff and shelley
purchased the disc from the studio so we could make our own
copies. On a sad note: The photographer that did all the
pictures died very suddenly of an anyerism on August 8. We
don't have the pictures back but there are people that work
at the studio that have assured us we will receive all that

Ben and Erin are getting married on Friday December 17,
2004 at The Links of Pinewood in Walled Lake, Michigan.
This is a beautiful banquet facility as nice as Shelley and
Jeff's reception hall. We realize that being so close to
Christmas and the number of weddings there are this year
most of you will not be able to come but if there is a
chance you may be able to come, please drop us an e-mail so
we can have a rough estimate of any out of towners that
might be able to come. This includes all brothers and
sisters of mine as well as all the first cousins of
Benjamin. Two weddings in one year is a little overwhlming
for us especially with Coles, Erins,and Gary's weddings too
but I know Mom and Dad Stevenson are smiling down from
heaven and will help all of us make all these dreams come

Jennifer and Star, and of course everyone else! On July 2,
we drove up to Bay City to pick up our newest family
member - our 8 week old collie puppy! He is awesome! We
named him Strider, after a character in the Lord of the
Rings. Strider (later revealed to be king Aragorn) was a
ranger who was a quiet protector of the race of mankind. We
think this fits our boy. He takes good naps, plays well,
love running around with us and playing with his toys and
his stuffed collie buddy. We all just love him. I forgot
how fast you get attached. The vet gave him full approval,
very healthy in all aspects. We'll get pictures back
tomorrow and I'l try and e-mail a few. He has a great
personality, he's pretty mellow, very content and full of
fun! Once he's down for the night he has not been crying
to go out until about 7am. (I still can't get over that
gift!)He's a sable and white collie. His front feet are
white up the knees, back feet are white, white beard,white
collar, and white chin. He's already showing his strong
loyality to us. He just likes to be near us and listens
very well so far. Good car passenger too.
I can't wait to be off work today and go home and play
with him - I'm hooked, we're already buddies. This morning
while I was in the shower Jeanne let him out, he walked
over near the spot we'd like him to go, went to the
bathroom and headed back to the door to come in. Then he
followed Jeanne around the house and then played fetch
with her.(he's almost got the hang of it already!) She's
hooked too! : )
He's all we could have asked for. More tales to come...
Today is Emilie's third birthday! She is very excited.
where did that time go? Wow!
Suzanne, we are now at 157 family members. (give or take)

WE had such a great time at the wedding and reunion.
There were so many people I wanted to chat with and wasn't
able to have enough time. I really enjoyed seeing everyone
and all the new little ones and the little ones that are
already bigger ones. Does anyone know the size of the family
now?
We were so blessed with great weather for both big
events. Did you notice on Monday it was cold and cloudy part
of the day?
Zip has his belt on the cover of the July issue of
Vanity Fair and 4 times inside. He is listed as Hollywood
Trading Co. This is the second time Vanity Fair has used
his belt. The last time it was on Brad Pitt. This time his
belt in on a super soccer star.

HI, I'm Button Nose, does Nancy or Bobby remember that
name? Jimmy Stevenson named me that nickname when I was
about 4 years old. I'm referring to THE JIMMY STEVENSON
or aka "UNCLE JIMMY". Eunice and my Mother were very close
friends along with Jimmy and my Dad. Our Family had so many
Happy Memories of the Stevenson's on Lawrence Street.
Well, the guessing is over ---- I'm Bonnie Ellison-Zook----
I'm Mary & Don Ellison Daughter. I had a surprise when I
looked up information for Caseville, MI. and I came across
the Circle Letter and saw Eunice and Jimmy. The last time
I saw some of you was at Jimmy's Funeral. I did have Eunice
over for lunch with my Mom a couple of times after that.
I did get a letter from Sally after Eunice's death.
What do I say after all these years? That your
Parents/Grandparents were great people. To the younger
Stevenson's I would like to share that we were all at
your Grandparents when TV came available and we would go
over to watch the shows, they were the first to get a TV,
we were second on Lawrence St. in Royal Oak. Also how we
all piled into your Grandpa Station Wagon and off we went
on Picnics. I was always sure to be standing near the car,
since I was never sure if He knew how many kids came with
him.
My Brother Jimmy and his wife, Toni are retired and
living in caseville. Nora, my Sister is also retired and
she enjoys camping (I just returned from camping with her).
Her husband passed away three years ago.
And Bonnie, what is she doing???? I'm married (Jimmy
sang so good at my wedding), we have four sons. Kelly
teaches math/science, Tim does Sheetmetal, Ryan is a Police
Officer and Bryan does Heating and Air Conditioning.
We also have a cottage in Caseville MI., on the South shore
of Sand Pointe.
Special hello's to Nancy and Bobby - and it was nice to
see this special memorial for Eunice and Jimmy - I just had
to write - wishing the best to all the Stevenson's.

Well it was quite a weekend. I almost felt that this family

Greetings Great Family!
As usual I've left out a detail or two in my planning on coming to
Michigan for Jeff and Shelley's wedding. I'll be arriving in Wayne Airport
(DTW) Detroit at 4:55 P.M. this Thursday the 17th on Northwest Airlines
Flight 49 from Paris. Is there anyone who feels up to making a small trip
to come pick me up, I'd be happy to pay for gas ( it's sooo expensive
now...hehe). Last time it was Aunt Sally and her welcome wagon! lol!
Then there's that bit about a place to stay. In the times that I've come
before I've managed to stay at a couple of different places which gave
me a chance to spread the love :-) I was hoping to do that this time as
well and was wondering who was in the mood for a little out of town
(very out of town...hehe) company?
Ok, I can't wait to get there! It'll will be such a pleasure to spend time
with everyone and be a part of Jeff and Shelley's special occassion!

What an interesting place to visit!
A couple of weeks ago Zip contacted me to let me know that
he would be coming to this country in search of some
rhinestones for his studded belt production company and
wondered if I could meet him.
Having been somewhat free I jumped at the idea and took an
overnight train last week to come and meet him here.
We ended up not staying here in Prague but went
to a region in the North Western part of the Czech Republic
called Jablonec nad Nisou which is known for its glass
industry.
Zip and I had a good time spending a couple of days together
and it was a great pleasure for me to hang out with him.
We managed to find what he was looking for and he has
since left but I am still here having decided to stay and visit a
bit.
Wow, Prague is a beautiful city! Especially the old town
section. I am really enjoying myself here and I highly
recommend a visit to this city! Prague was once referred to
as the Paris of Eastern Europe so I suppose it makes sense
that I like it. It is clear that this city has taken cues from Paris
right down to having constructed a mini Eiffel tower in
1891 shortly after completion of the original. It is quite a
charming city (especially the old town) with numerous narrow
cobblestone streets lined with interesting shops offering
everything from the typical toursit fare of t-shirts and hats to
hand crafted wooden objects (like marionettes and other
toys) as well as spectacular and relatively inexpensive crystal
objets d art and tablewares. The people are generally quite
friendly and most everyone in the city speaks enough english
to make simple transactions a breeze. Prices are still
somewhat reasonable relative to the rest of Europe but they
will probably soon go up with this country having just officially
entered the EU. If anyone has any questions about this place
be sure to pull me aside when we are all together in
Michigan :-) .
Speaking of which, I am really looking forward to seeing
everyone at Jeff and Shelley s wedding! It will be such a
pleasure to be able to spend time with everyone and share
the happenings in our lives in person!

Here is an excerpt from one of my favorite blogs, This
Modern World:
"I first heard about the [Nick Berg] story when I checked
in to Yahoo news and saw it posted there, shortly after it
was filed. I learned more about it in above-the-fold, front
page stories in the New York Times; on the evening news,
where it led the newscast a couple of nights in a row; and
on cable news, where it was discussed ad infinitum.
The prison abuse story still has huge unanswered questions.
Is this standard operating procedure throughout
the "secret" prison system? What the hell are Americans
doing running a secret prison system anyway? Who in the
chain of command knew this was going on? Where does the CIA
fit in? How about the "private contractors"? Asking these
questions is the way an open society maintains its checks
and balances. People who don't understand that would have
happily overlooked Watergate, My Lai, you name it.
The Nick Berg story, on the other hand--a terrible thing
happened, it led the news for several days--there's not
much more to say (unless you want to delve into the
contradictory accounts of Berg's detention by U.S. forces,
but somehow I suspect that's not the angle that interests
the warbloggers). This was a terrible, terrible event.
Anyone in this country who pays the slightest attention to
the news has heard about this story, and is appalled and
disgusted by it. What more is there to say?
To summarize: the prisoner abuse story continues to
dominate the news because it is an ongoing story with many
unanswered questions about the actions of our military and
our government--questions of direct relevance to our
democratic system. And information keeps dribbling out.
Congress is given access to unreleased photos, and various
politicians hold press conferences--news is generated.
Trials are about to commence, the defendants and their
attorneys give contradictory statements to the media--more
news. See how that works? The Nick Berg story, by contrast,
has been covered thoroughly, and we're all horrified by it--
but there's just not much more there for the media to
report at this point."
I think his analysis is pretty accurate. I also completely
agree with a portion of Lisa's concluding statement: we
should never forget that we were attacked without
provocation 2 1/2 years ago--by Al Qaeda terrorists from
Saudi Arabia, funded by Saudi Arabia, and operating from a
number of European countries. There is no connection
whatsoever between what happened on 9/11 and Iraq, and
President Bush has publicly admitted this. We attacked Iraq
without provocation; we claimed the moral high ground; and
we abused our power and authority on innocent civilians in
Iraq (the Red Cross estimates that 90% of the Abu Ghraib
prisoners were guilty only of being in the wrong place at
the wrong time). The Iraq catastrophe is severely
distracting us from our real mission--hunting down Osama
bin Laden and the rest of the Al Qaeda power structure and
pursuing policies of peace, economic development, and
environmental preservation within an international
framework. It feels like we are headed in exactly the wrong
direction. But that's just my opinion.

I just so happened to stumble across this article in
yesterday's The Day newspaper. It is our local paper here
in the Groton-New London area. I choose to reprint it here.
Since our paper is a left-leaning one, this find was
especially sweet.
Stories about Nick Berg were big headlines Wednesday on
Page One of every paper.
On Thursday, they were relegated to the inside pages, and
once again it was all about “abuse of prisoners,'' which
had been temporarily moved out of the spotlight.
Along with other papers, the top story Thursday in the
Hartford Courant was about the reaction of members of
Congress to photographs showing the degrading treatment of
prisoners in the Abu Gharib prison camp. The headline was
accurate: “Numbed by Images of Abuse.''
I was also numbed by images of abuse, but from different
photographs. These showed Berg kneeling in front of his
hooded kidnappers moments before they beheaded him.
For obvious reasons, “abuse of prisoners'' has become a
phrase that has dominated the media. But whenever I have
read it since Tuesday, when I first saw the pictures of
Berg and his captors on television, I think about this
young, American noncombatant brutally slain by Islamic
terrorists, the epitome of abuse, before I think about the
disgraceful behavior of a group of American soldiers so
shockingly unsupervised and untrained in interrogation
techniques that disaster was inevitable.
Berg's barbaric murder was a classic example of a so-called
response (“payback,'' as one paper put it) hideously out of
proportion to the offense. In this case, the “humiliation''
of the prisoners was cited.
Of course, heartless murderers always find it comforting to
rationalize their despicable acts. No doubt they would say
that Wall Street Journal writer David Pearl, beheaded by
kidnappers two years ago in Pakistan, paid for having the
audacity to be where Jews are not as welcome as, say, in
New York.
It is small consolation, but Nick Berg's murder could be a
badly needed reminder, lest we forget (not an unrealistic
possibility) of the ferocity of our enemies and of the
unpleasant reality that a real war was launched for the
long haul by Al-Qaida against the West, which it holds in
hatred and contempt.
Unfortunately, many Americans have notoriously short
memories, so it will not be long before they regard 9-11 as
an event as deep in the distant past as the Civil War.

Let me state that I agree with Mr. Foley. I for one am
finding a disturbing trend in the media. They seem to have
a sympathetic view of these countries around the Middle
East section of the world. What they seem to forget is that
2 ½ years ago we were brutally attacked, without
provocation, in New York, and the Pentagon, and God knows
where (that last plane was headed), more than likely to the
White house. It seems, to the media at least, that how
these prisoners were (or were not) treated is far more
important than how our civilians in Fajullah, Wall Street
journalist Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg and others, get treated.
An American can be killed by these brutal individuals yet
it goes to 3rd or 4th page news. The next day or two it
will be made mention of on the cable news networks. Then
they bring back in living color the ‘prison scandal’
story. What I am finding is misplaced priorities, to say
the least. Let’s put the priorities back on America and
American lives, please.

Hi All,
I would like to encourage Scott and anyone else out there
who is thinking about politics to post their thoughts to
this page. As Thomas Jefferson once wrote to James
Madison, "There are moments in which the aid of an able pen
is important to place things in their just attitude." So
let's break out those able pens!
I was in Washington D.C. with the Institute for a
Democratic Future last week (it was a great trip!). We were
meeting with the Washington Democratic Delegation all day
on Thursday when the Abu Ghraib prisoner scandal broke. In
fact, we were in Senator Murray's office when an aide came
in to tell her that Nancy Pelosi--Democratic leader of the
House--had just called for Rumsfeld's resignation. Every
single member of our delegation was livid, absolutely
furious with the way those prisoners were being mistreated.
In addition to being morally reprehensible, they were
outraged that they first learned of the torture on the
evening news.
The most frustrating part of this whole episode is that the
Bush administration went in to Iraq under false pretenses
(Remember those Weapons of Mass Destruction that they never
found?) When that didn't work out, they decided to
rationalize the invasion by accurately pointing out that
Saddam Hussein is an evil man and we would liberate the
Iraqi people, build a democracy for them, and then hand the
country back to the grateful Iraqis. Instead, our
government has made mistake after mistake in Iraq and is
now in an intractable situation. We knew that Abu Ghraib
was the most feared prison in Iraq, we knew that Saddam
tortured and killed people there, and we should have razed
it to the ground and put up a monument to all of the
innocents who suffered and lost their lives there. Instead,
we kept the same name, rounded up a bunch of Iraqis, and
proceeded to treat them in much the same way as the regime
from which we were supposedly liberating them.
I do not accept the explanation that this was perpetrated
by "six bad apples." This was a systemic failure of the
chain of command and was undoubtedly an intentional and
purposeful course of action pursued by our military and the
civilian contractors in their employ. I should say that I
firmly believe that 99.9% of everyone serving in uniform is
a decent person with the best of intentions, but clearly
there was a failure of leadership in this situation. This
should never have been allowed to happen, and once it was
discovered by the leadership at the Pentagon (apparently
Rumsfeld was informed of this situation in January) it
should have been stopped immediately. But it was not.
Now we are perceived by the rest of the world as vicious
torturers and killers who fail to take responsibility for
their mistakes. It will take decades to rebuild our
reputation and regain the moral high ground, particularly
with the Arab world. A good first step would be to fire
Rumsfeld and everyone else who is responsible for this. But
I do not think that is going to happen.
We had a golden opportunity to work with the international
community to combat terrorism after September 11, 2001.
Instead, George W. Bush and his administration squandered
that opportunity by diverting our attention away from Osama
Bin Laden and Al Qaeda and engaging in an unnecessary
preemptive war that has cost hundreds of American lives,
thousands of Iraqi lives, and the good will of the
international community. Nice work, fellas.
Those are my thoughts. Curious to hear what others have to
say.

Happy late Mother's Day! Mom and I had lunch in Tiburon
near San Francisco on the bay waterfront. She mentioned
hearing a phrase the "god could not be everywhere so he
made mothers" Pretty cute. On the way home, we realized
that we were going to be stuck in severe traffic and would
likely have a 90 minute car ride home. So I thought what
mother would not love the newest CD by America's hottest
young talent...TONY LUCCA! So we actually drove closer to
San Francisco to the Best Buy Center (largest tech
department chain in California; bigger than Circuit City,
Good Guys, Fry's, or TOWER records etc..) Right there on
the shelf was the last two copies of Tony Lucca Shotgun!
And when mom reminded me that you can't "burn" CD's made
by family we bought both (knee jerk reaction...sorry
cousin, it won't happen again) We decided we both liked
Shotgun best because of it's hard driving tempo and
general bad ass mojo. Finally in reading the cover
jacket, we noticed that the phrase "ALL ARTIST APPEAR
COURTESY OF THEIR MOTHERS" was included...that was good
stuff and mom, well she liked it. (way to go ace).
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Shelley and Jeff's

Well we are about 40 days away from, what sounds like a
heck of a long weekend of fun.
What I forgot to add to my last letter was that if we send

Now on a sad note, I too feel like Sally regarding the Iraq
situation. It is a tragedy that our own people have made
such a mess out of an already very bad situation. I do not
even know if the US will ever be able to recover from this.
I know that we have a "praying family" and maybe it is time
that we all do a little more of it and ask God to find a
solution to this.

Hi everyone!!
Love and kisses to you all. I agree with Scott as I'm
sure we ALL do about how horriable things are in this
world. Darn shame. Too bad too, we look so ugly to the
world. I'm not sure there's alot here to debate or
whatever because if you're human, you feel this way. Let's
hope and pray that they ( whoever "THEY" are ) will get to
the bottem of it all soon.
On a much lighter note, TJ's song hits the airways on
Tuesday May 11th. He's not sure what channels will carry
it or what cities but it's called "Catch me" and if you
hear it... PLEASE PLEASE call (or e-mail) that radio
station and request it again and again. He's thinking it
will be on a pop top 40 type station but you never know.
If you hear it let me know too. I can't wait to be driving
down the street one day and hear it!! Thanks.
As far as uncle Bobs suggestion goes I haven't heard
too much about it, so hopefully that's a good sign. We are
talking to the CREEK to see about some sort of food deal.
Pray for good weather for the wedding and Sunday so we can
use the lake to it's fullest, swimming, skiing, tubeing,
tanning and just being outside on our new beautiful deck,
TOGETHER !!! YEAH !!!

other folks about that.
I really like the letter how it is (religion and all...hehe) but I don't want to
ruin our 'spirit' here and so I thought I'd ask other folks about that and
get some opinions before I potentially ruin something here.

Hello Family,
Well it is not too long before we have another Stevenson. I
know that Gerry & Kelly will be so happy to have another
woman in the family. I also know that Jeff and Shelly have
done a lot of planning, with the help of their parents, for
this wedding and I am absolutely convinced that this will
be another blast. So we are very excited.
Now, the next day, if everyone is not too tired, there will
be another event which will be a blast also.
Now I know that Sally and Tony have graceshly offered their
beautiful house in which to host this party but since Amy
is already married, and what a blast that was, and TJ is
not quite readt yet I thought it would be a great idea if
everyone of the family members help to put this party on.
There will be lots of food and lots to drink and lots of
fun things to do but as you know this cost a lot of money.
So to make it real simple, how about this:
Each adult over 16 years of age pays $20.00
Each child under 16, down to 10 pays $10.00
Each child under 10, down to 5 pays $5.00
Any person under 5 pays $00
Now I know that this might sound like a lot of money and
maybe it is, so after all of the bills are paid, if there
is any money left over we will hold a raffle with a first
prize of 75% of whats left over and a second prize of 25%
of what is left over.
I am not perfect so if anybody wants to add to this idea,
or subtract to this idea please let me know.
What the heck we all have to eat somewhere and if you went
to a nice restruant, like the Creek, you would spend as
much there and you would not even get to talk to all of
your relatives, or play volleyball or swim in the lake or
ride on the deck boat or see pretty girls in there bathing
suits. So lets here those ideas.

Hello Family:
First of all let me say yahoo! for TJ! We haven't had the
CD in our stores here yet, but we had them order some, so
hopefully they will be in next week.
Allis going pretty well here. Chris is out of radiation
treatment now, an all appears to be well. He has a check
up in 3 months to ensure his health, but for now he is
healing nicely and things are looking good.
As far as Danny is concerned, I will let him give you all
the details later, but he is doing fairly well, and it
looks like his surgery will be in about 4 years. Kathy is
going to be his donor as of now! Pretty amazing stuff!
We are hosting a huge fundraiser this fall for the cancer
society, for those of you who have been here it is going
to be held at the RED ROOST, and all the crabs you can eat
extravaganza, with an auction, entertainment and the whole
shebang!
The date is September 17, for anyone who feels the need
for a great weekend of fun, food, and golf for those who
are so inclined. Anyone who wants to travel here, we will
provide you with housing and Esther's cooking! Come and
visit!!!
For those of you who are still interested in being in our
cookbook, the final entry date is May 15. i want to have
them printed before the reunion. Thanks to all of you who
have contributed already.. Uncle Dan, thanks for sendiing
Grandma's recipe. I added that to my personal cookbook as
well!!
Hope all is well with everyone, and Uncle Brian we have
added you to our prayer chain and we will be lighting a
luminary in honor of you at our Relay event!

Hello family:
It's been quite a while since I wrote on the circle letter
so I thought I'd bring you up-to-date on our little world
here in Clarkston.
First of all, I'd like to say that those in the family who
are battling sickness are being lifted up at a very
powerful prayer meeting that I've been attending every
Tuesday for 10 years. Many miracles have taken place and
healings of every kind. I think this is mainly because
this is a time of visitation by almighty God like I have
not ever experienced before...and it's growing daily.
Brian has had a recent diagnosis of a type of skin cancer
on his leg and on April 22nd he goes in for treatment so I
am asking for him to be added to your prayer list. The
bible says that "by His stripes we are healed" and so
we're trusting in His word and standing on it with a peace
that passes understanding.
All of the kids are doing good. We just returned from a
trip to Cape Cod and we saw Therese and Steve and their
family. Graham is coming to Michigan next week to work at
the Creek and stay with us for a while. Jim and Brian are
teaming up in a new appraisal business. Lou and Leenie
are moving into a beautiful condo in Novi next month. Bob
is living in Walled Lake and working for his dad. Nancy is
also working part-time for her dad doing appraisal work.
She is still busy with her photography business as well.
Matt will be moving to Arizona in August so that makes
four of Brian's sons all in the restaurant business in
Arizona. Beth is keeping Clarkston Mequite Creek in good
working order. So that's a very brief rundown on our 11.
I was fortunate to go to California for T.J.'s big debut.
What a ball we had...Sally, Ami Jane, Nancy and me. T.J.
was so incredible....I have never seen him perform like
that. He has been given an amazing amount of talent and
everyone just loves him wherever he goes. He is very cool!
We're still excited about our CD. This Sunday Terry and I
will be ministering for an hour at a church in Pontiac.
The pastor is a good friend of Gerry's. This will be a
first that we'll be doing most of our album and a few
other songs. We've been there before and it's a great
church...real informal and loving. My church, Mt. Zion,
will be doing three of the songs (the choir) in the next
month. That will be very exciting. We're building a new
sanctuary that will hold 3,800 people. It seems that all
the churches are expanding....revival's going on and it's
awesome. Lisa, you are so right. "Unless a man be born
again, he cannot enter the kingdom of God". It's so
easy. Just ask Him to come in and you'll never be the
same. It happened to me on July 24, 1975. I thank God
for that day.
Well, I can't wait for the wedding and the reunion. I'm
so grateful for these times when all 12 plus are together
and I know Mom and Dad will be there definitely in spirit.

slow but he's hopeful.

As I was in the theatre watching “The Passion of
the Christ”, during the scene as they were nailing Jesus to
the cross, I was reminded of a scripture “While we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8)
While I was in the U S Navy in my early twenties, I
went out of my way to sin. As a drinking, carousing, rank
sinner, Jesus died for me.
I am not here to talk about me, or Mel Gibson’s
movie, or anything like that today. I am here to speak to
you about eternity. Where will you spend it? It can
arguably be the most important decision of your life. The
decision for or against Christ is a matter of life or
death. Heaven or hell. If you admit you have sinned, and
acknowledge Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart,
you’ll be saved. You cannot say, “I have not sinned”, for
the bible clearly states “All have sinned and fallen short
of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) P.S., that is not MY
interpretation. It is not any more than “Thou shalt not
steal” is my interpretation. He will come into your heart
(if you ask Him to) and do a new work in you and enable you
to leave a former sinful life. He did it for me. He can do
the same for you. If this offends you, then I am sorry. You
will have to take it up with God.
If you once looked into Christianity, but were
offended by the actions of a few Christians, then I want to
beg you to reconsider. God’s people may let you down, but
He won’t . Just try Him one more time. If you’re sincere,
then He will more than meet you halfway. Believe me.
Indeed, in His word it says “I will never leave you nor
forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5)

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share some of the fun highlights of our trip
to LA for TJ's CD release party. It was everything from
the "Red Carpet", limo rides, getting all gussied-up,
meeting Kevin Kosner(sp), eating in the #1 hottest sushi
spot in town with the big money guys, star findings, seeing
the commercial for TJ's CD on MTV 6 times to buying it at
Tower Records on the Sunset Strip. It was all real
exciting. The best thing of all though was the amount of
time we got to spend with Teege and Gaby. Seeing how well
he's taking it in (he's got his dad's level head thank
God). It's even hard for him to believe!! I mean the kid
has to have body gaurds now. WOW!!! It's all happening so
fast.
I guess we'll see were we go from here ... it's been a
long ride and it's just amazing the chain of events that
have to take place for an album to get off to a good
start. Everyone seems to be really nice and Gaby is Tones
best assest. She's such a helpmate. We LOVE her!! Can't
wait for you all to meet her in June. I love you all.

is very excited to have a new baby brother...I asked him

happier about finally being a GREAT grandma! and now we get
to join you others in THE GRANDPARENTS CLUB! HOW
FUN!!!!!
He's just as cute as a button and I can't wait for the

Christ last night with 400 others from our church.
WOW!
What an incredible film.
The theater was silent at its conclusion. No one (maybe
only a very few) even got up out of their seats until the
credits finished and the lights were turned back on.
Was it pleasurable, no.
Life changing, YES.

Hi Everyone !!
First of all, Matt, did your dad say to you, as our
dad said to us..."When you grow up, you could be the
president of the United States"!! ? I said that to my kids
too but being Stevensons, they did what Grandma and Grandpa
did best, mothering and music. Now don't get me wrong,
AmiJane could mother for a living, she's so good at it and
Teege, well, he's really good at music too. It's just so
cool to think we could have a politition in the family.
Come to think of it, T.J's pretty radical too.
Speaking of TJ, his song sounds sooo cool on the DVD disc
of "Open Range". Please rent it if you think of it. It's
on disc 2 under music vidio. Ami, Tony and I went to New
york for his 28th birthday. Gaby had a surprize birthday
party for him. She is the most wonderful girl in the world
and we love her (even if she is democratic) JUST KIDDING!!!
Ami and Matt are doing great. Stevenson is the boy of
reason and is way above his age in common sense. Real
quick like I'll tell you what I mean... One day I promised
the kids I'd take them to their favorite place (the dollar
store). They got their money together, I got them dressed
and we were off when the phone rang. I wasn't on it for 5
mins
when Mattie feel asleep. I said we could go yet, Stevenson
said come on Gramma,
you promised. I said this is true but we can't leave
Mattie alone, I'd NEVER leave YOU alone so we'll have to
wait until your mom gets home any minute now. He said,
well if my mom will be home any time now then Mattie won't
be alone for very long so lets go !!! REAL NICE STEVENSON.
See what I mean? Anyway, Madeline Margret is going to be
our clotheshound and a real girlie girl. What fun though...
we love every minute of them and praise God for them.
The house is coming along beautifly and will be ready
for the reunion come June. (Hurry) I love you all and I

Greetings to the great Stevenson Diaspora. It has been
several months since I've posted and there are a few
newsworthy events that I think might be worth sharing.But
first I would like to wish Danny & Chris the best of luck
in dealing with their medical challenges. You are both
fighters and I know everything will work out, especially
with 9,783 relatives pulling for you and offering support!
I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who
contributes regularly to the Circle Letter, because
although I might not be adding to it frequently myself I
definitely enjoy reading the new additions and keeping up
on all the news.
Our household has been irrevocably changed in numerous ways
by Liam (aka Mr. Little Guy, Munchkin, Squirt, and--
depending on the circumstances and time of night, various
other appellations that should not be mentioned here). He
is an amazing baby and Amy and I love him more than we
thought possible. He is nearly six months old now (!), 20
lbs, almost always smiling, sitting up by himself, and
rolling around like a little tornado. He's also remarkably
chatty, considering he has no discernable vocabulary. He
is quite a ham in social situations as well--for the past
several months the three of us have been attending
meetings of the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS),
and he seems to enjoy being surrounded by other adults and
babies. This past Monday he was playing on the floor when
the oldest baby (Zara, who started crawling a couple of
weeks ago) approached him and started sucking on his nose!
He was somewhat taken aback by her bold advance, but
eventually got into the spirit of things and grabbed her
chin and an ear before we were able to pull them apart. I
didn't think we'd have to worry about this sort of thing
for several years, but then again, he is a Stevenson. :)
Amy is still working at a consulting firm as a toxicologist
doing litigation support and is struggling valiantly to
get in 40 hours a week from home. She is a great mom to
Mr. LG and one of the hardest workers I know, but she
needed a little help. We hired a Peruvian woman to look
after Liam two days a week and that has made a huge
difference, but it is still a struggle. Amy would really
like to have more time to spend with Liam, and have more
time to spend by herself, so she will ramp down to 30
hours per week at the end of next month. In order to make
that financially possible, I had to find a new job.
Although I've really enjoyed working at CommEn Space and
feel proud of my accomplishments there, the non-profit
salary was beginning to limit our options. I am starting a
new job tomorrow at a firm called Berk & Associates
(www.berkandassociates.com) where I will be doing a mix of
cartography, spatial analysis, demographic/socioeconomic
research, and strategic planning. They are a small firm
comprised of extremely bright and ambitious people and I'm
looking forward to the change; however, I have never
worked in the private sector so I am somewhat intimidated
by all of the MBAs and the more substantial (but not
overriding) focus on billable targets and profitability.
Overall, I think it will be a really good transition, but
I will miss my friends at CommEn Space.
Another interesting recent development has been my
involvement with the Institute for a Democratic Future
(IDF). This is an eight month program put on by the
Washington State Democratic Party. They accept 25 people
from around the state each year, and one weekend per month
is spent covering various aspects of politics: state
government, local government, various political and social
issues, how to run for elective office, and so on. I've
always had a desire to make a positive contribution to our
country and in protecting our environment and improving the
lives of the disadvantaged. I have also followed politics
closely for years, and when I learned of this program I
thought it would be an ideal opportunity to learn about the
legislative process and where I might be able to make the
greatest impact. I applied for the program, went through
the interview process, and somehow managed to get
accepted! We have had two sessions so far, and the most
recent was extremely interesting.
We spent two days in Olympia (WA state capitol) learning
about the various branches of state government. The first
day we were matched with State Legislators and were
instructed to "shadow" them as they went about their
business. I requested Senator Adam Kline because he is a
bit of a radical--like me! He was a member of Students for
a Democratic Society in the 60s, got a law degree and
worked for a civil rights group in Mississippi, and has
worked for the ACLU and the National Abortion Rights
Action League of Washington. He was also a co-founder of
the Washington League of Conservation Voters and is
currently on the Senate Land Use and Planning Committee.
Overall, an extremely good fit. It was fascinating
accompanying him for the day--I overheard all of his
conversations with fellow senators, sat in on meetings with
lobbyists, and accompanied him to the Senate floor and his
various committee meetings. When he was briefly
unavailable, I attended the House Democratic Caucus meeting
and sat in on a strategy session where they came up with a
scheme to coerce the Republican minority into helping them
pass some legislation (it worked, too!). At the end of the
day I was able to ask Senator Kline a number of questions
and we had a good discussion about state politics.
The next day we met with the state Attorney General,
Christine Gregoire. She is an absolute dynamo and is
probably going to be the next Governor of Washington. It
was inspiring listening to her stories about trying cases
before the U.S. Supreme Court and explaining how she has
been able to make a difference in the lives of many
Washingtonians. We also met with one of the State Supreme
Court justices (Bobbe Bridge, another remarkable woman),
the State Insurance Commissioner (Mike Kreidler) and some
of the Governor's senior staff. The Governor was supposed
to meet with us but something came up at the last minute.
So far it has been a really tremendous experience and I am
looking forward to all of the other sessions. The program
culminates with a trip to Washington D.C. where we will
meet the Washington Congressional delegation, and
hopefully Amy and Liam will be able to come too.

thought WOW this is strange. So I went back into the
arcives and lo and behold there were several letters I had
not seen yet.
The first and most important is the relatively good news
that Chris is coping with his newe found freind and we all
hope that he looses this freind in a big hurry. Good luck
Chris. We will be praying for you.
Gerry, God willing we will be at the wedding in June. That
is the goal for now. I am not sure if any of my kids will
make it but were working on it.

have moved and now have a new e-mail address, as listed
above. I am sure you can work your magic and get me back
into the world of knowing what the family is up to.
Mary, I am sure your world is about to change and now you
can gather around your sisters and you TOO can talk about
your grandchildren. Tell the kids we are very happy for
them.
We are now settled into our new house and everything is
finished. For those of you who thought our backyard in San
Diego was tropical wait until you see our new place. This
backyard is really cool.
Don and Kelly took the keys to their new house yesterday
and we have been moving into the house today. They are very
excited and their home is very beautiful. 5 bedrooms, 3
baths, very large kitchen, family room, bonus room,formal
dining room and living room, 3 car garage and you know what
Star it was under $300,000.00. By the way Star it also came
with a pool. So if you and Jennifer want to come and look
at property in Chandler Arizona or just come out for a
visit we have lots of room for anyone who wants to come and
get out of the cold winter weather.

Hello there family:
Jenny here. This year, as we do every year, we
Marylanders are raising money for the RELAY FOR LIFE -
American Cancer Society. In September each year, we have
a team and we raise money for Cancer research before and
during this overnight event. This year we are aiming high
and our goal is to be the #1 money raiser in honor of
Chris and those we know and love who have had the
disease. The event takes place in September this year and
we are beginning our efforts very early.
One of the first fundraisers we are having is a cookbook
sale. We are copiling a cookbook called "Cooking for a
Cure" and each person who submits a recipe can dedicate
theirs to a survivor or in memory of someone they love.
We are looking for everyone's favorite recipes and I would
love to have as many of our family's as possible. And
yes, for those of you who want to know her tricks, Esther
will be submitting quite a few!!!
If any of you would like to be published in our book,
please email me the recipe, your personal dedication, and
even a photograph of your honoree if you'd like.
Thanks for your support and I will let you know when the
books will be for sale. We are hoping to have them
published before April.
All is going pretty well here and Chris will begin his
radiation treatment in the next couple of weeks. His
prognosis looks good and thank you all for your prayers.
Star and Jennifer, what a year! You 2 are amazing. Good
for you. We wish you lived near us - we just bought 2
Llamas and we would love to have you as our Vet - Jennifer.

Greetings from California!
This is Star Stevenson (youngest son) of brother and uncle
James Stevenson and Suzanne Roach. What follows is as
much, a sigh of relief, as it is a summary of events of
the last year. 2003 was a tremendous year for both
Jennifer and I. We are only now slowing down to a
comfortable pace!
Jennifer graduated as a Veterinarian from the University
of California at Davis and then passed two days of board
exams. While she worked feverishly to finish her studies,
we were also looking for a home in Santa Rosa (near San
Francisco) AND a new jobs. One interesting note is that I
was “unemployed” for one day between jobs in Sacramento
and Santa Rosa, we nearly fell out of escrow, banks
don't lend to people who are jobless!! Not the call you
want to hear in the mitst of chaos. We both found jobs
AND a 1200 sq foot, 60 year old fixer-upper in a
historical neighborhood…$400,000 sticker shock. We have
both been working hard to turn it into a little jewel. We
do have a spare bedroom and welcome any visitors.
I have been creating a unique position at the trauma
center in Santa Rosa and provide physical therapy for all
of our trauma patients that arrive by ambulance or by
helicopter (usually a mix of gang bangers, druggies,
drunks and poor decision makers…think America’s Funniest
Home Videos with deadly consciences.) I love the position
and try to politely mix a little counseling in with every
session…captured audience.
Jennifer is now a partner in a thriving Vet practice and
is expanding her medical and surgical skills daily…recent
highlights include delivering c-section puppies, detoxing
dogs that ate methamphetamines thrown into their yard
during a high speed chase, and cutting out what was
thought to be cheerleading pom-poms from a little dog’s
stomach...good work if you can find it!. Conversations
around the dinner table are always interesting.
Jennifer continues to run and train for a half marathon
despite being the driving force behind the restoration of
our home, she gave me 8 new power tools for Christmas -
ouch.In 2003 I competed in a number of triathlons and
redeemed myself by summiting the 14,000+ foot Mt Shasta on
the second attempt (No plans for Denali or Rainer). This
was easily the hardest single event I have ever done, much
harder than a marathon, and although I told friends, I
would never do it again; I have secretly been planning a
second summit to be done in style. If this is interesting
to anybody, look at Mt. Shasta on-line and send me an
email, misery loves company…
Finally, in 2003, Jennifer and I helped her parents sell
their Bed & Breakfast of 14 years and after 13 months
paperwork, and sweat, they sold their inn on January 3rd
and are now in escrow on a 19 unit apartment complex here
in Santa Rosa. I am sure 2004 will be dominated by house
projects, travel and whatever else comes our way. We are
hoping to make it out to Michigan for the wedding,
possibly Europe, and somewhere warm. Love Star and

On to other things:
Well I hope everyone had a nice New Year's eve. I sure did. I ended up
going to the Alps after all where I made a number of new friends (we
were 21 in all in the relatively small Chalet). We did some skiing which
was great but man...was I ever out of shape up there! :-)
I had an interesting experience on my last downhill run....which is pretty
funny. Earlier in the day I had ripped my ski pants pretty bad in the
crotch area and thought that while it was bad I'd make it through the day
as best I could and just cope with it. Well all went pretty well except for
the fact that as the day went on this hole grew and grew. Finally on my
last run I did a tumble and BAM! my pants literally fell apart from the
crotch (think America's funnies home videos). I tried to get them to stay
up to no avail. Up to that point it had just been myself and one other
person but right at that instant because it was getting towards closing
time and everyone needed to make their way back by way of that last
run, the rest of the group showed up (out of nowhere...like it was timed).
I tried to hide myself from the other and tried to make my pants work
but it just was ridiculous they would not stay up....so I decided to do
what as we say in french 'Assume the situation'. I quickly realized that if
I was going to look rather shameful skiing down with my pants around
my ankles (HOW EMBARASSING..:-) I only had like a 100 yards to go
thankfully) SO WHAT DID I DO??
I had my pocket knife with me so I just cut what was left of my pants
completely off and skiied down the rest of the way in my underwear!!!!!
TOOO FUNNNY! There were my friends there watching the whole thing
PLUS all of the other people around (even people in the ski lifts)....once I
had my pants off I stood straight up with my fists in the air and yelled
YES! Everyone around let out a big whoop and there was applause....it
was such a crack up.
While returning to the car I got so many strange looks from people in
the streets, I just told the people....'what can I say...I lost a bet...(with a
laugh)' Everyone had a smile. I think I got a photo of myself like that with
my other friends but I'm waiting to hear from my friend if the photo
came out or not. (I'm crossing my fingers).
Now, I know what you're thinking...wasn't that cold!!?? But no it wasn't! I
think the adrenaline rush of the whole affair kept me warm and I didn't
shiver once during the whole return trip to the chalet.
Well...looking forward to hearing YOUR new year's reports!

Well, I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season this year and that
everyone had a good Thanksgiving and a nice Chirstmas meal! I had a
really nice Thanksgiving meal with Zip, Liz and Sophie as well as mom
and dad and I (with a lotta help from Liz and Zip) managed to start
patching things up relationship wise with James junior (and Chitomi)
who were thankfully there with Jatomis, Joseph and Sammy to join us
amongst the other folk (as mentioned in my Mom's letter below).
I'd like to say I hope that this letter finds you all doing well but alas, I
know otherwise.
It saddens me to hear the report about Danny's need for a kidnet
(remember that?) transplant and I still stand by my earlier offer if ever
one of those siblings doesn't work out or someone else doesn't beat me
to it ;-) . In addition, Jenny and Chris my heart goes out to you! I had
such a wonderful time being with you two and showing you two and
your friends around Paris! I hope that this cancer that Chris has will be
treated in a rapid manner that will ensure a complete remission and that
that remission will be long and enduring (hopefully it will never come
back).
My condolences to those family members who knew aunt Virginia well
and spent time with her. I only spoke with her two times very briefly on a
couple of different occassions. Now that I'm living in France, I wish that
I'd gotten more of an oportunity to know her and that side of Grandma's
family with Grandma's maiden name being LeDuc and all.
All is well here in Paris. I was formerly living with a Morrocan roomate
named Najib who has now moved out so I have this spare room once
again for those who might be thinking of coming to Paris and might
need a place to stay. So far here in Paris I've had the pleasure of seeing all
of these family members: Jeff (Gerry and Kelly's), Jenny and
Chris, my mom and dad, and my brother Zip. I'd sure like to add to the
list so please anyone who might be interested just let me know!
I'm still working with the folks at PhonebookoftheWorld.com in my
capacity as web-editor and site manager. My french has improved
greatly and I'm spending most of my free time with the number of french
friends I've managed to make in my nearly four years of living here (in
fact I might be leaving shortly to go skiing in the Alps with a bunch of
them...we'll see).
Well, I close this letter with my wish for you all to have a Happy, Healthy
and Prosperous New Year 2004!!

You know this great big old family is praying for all of you.
Aunt Virginia was mom's (Eunice) sister for all who don't know.
We had a great Thanksgiving in Los Angeles at Zip and Liz's
home with our grandaughter 5 year old Sophie.
James Christopher, wife Chitomi, J.T., Joseph, and Sammy
were all there too. It was wonderful to see how well everyone is
doing.
Scott was there from Paris which was extra nice and Liz and
her brother Carl fixed a great meal and all I had to do was make
the gravy and the soup the next day.
Her uncle Jimmy and two friends Nabu and his wife shared the
day with us making it very special.
Christmas Eve Star and Jenifer are having us along with Jerry,
Cindy, Nick and Lyndsay to their new house which they are
working on all the time.
James is weighing his year's collection of coins to divide
among the grandchildren a tradition that started with our children
and has been the grandchildren for years. Nick is 16 now and has
a drivers license. Hard to believe.

Hello Stevenson (and all branches of) Family.
Happy Holidays to one and all. We hope everyone is having
a great season, and that all the new parents are enjoying
the difference having a baby brings. I know we are.
We have a bit of news from our front...
A month ago Chris had what we believed was a benign tumor
removed from his salivary gland, during the surgery, his
doctors realized it was not what they expected and had to
send it off to The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology
because that's "where all the weird stuff goes for
research" (a quote from the doctors). It turns out that
the tumor is malignant, and the remaining portion of it
needs to be treated with radiation. They had to leave
some in his head or cut his facial nerve which would have
left him with permanant paralysis. Right now he has
temporary paralysis for about 4 more weeks on his left
side of his face and neck.
The diagnosis is calle Micro Epidermoid Carcinoma. The
radiation treatments should cure this but interestingly
enough it looks as though it was the radiation from his
first bout of Cancer 10 years ago that caused this new
version.
We waited to share this news in the hopes that it was a
big nothing, but now that it is a "something" I dediced we
could use the extra prayer power that this family is so
famous for.
Though Chris doesn't feel great after the surgery his
spirits are amazing and Marshall helps keep our
perspective in check!

Danny’s Kidney Update…December 19, 2003
On December 10th Danny, Jill, Baby Grace and I went to
Johns Hopkins for a pre-dialysis class. It was amazing, but
we are so hoping that Danny won’t need dialysis. We don’t
think that he will because he has so many potential donors.
Then on December 15th, Danny, Jill, Baby Grace, Kathy, Tom
and I went back to Hopkins for Danny’s Kidney Transplant
Evaluation. On this day we would meet with lots of
important people and we would start testing those of us who
may be potential donors.
We met with our coordinator, Kathy Dane. She was full of
information, tried to walk us through the whole
transplantation process. Everything we do from this point
on regarding transplant and donors will go through her. We
met with a dietician, who told us that the kidney diet is
the worst diet ever ! (Jill had already found this to be
true.) We met with the surgeon who will be Danny’s surgeon;
there will be another surgeon who will take care of the
donor.
We were enjoying meeting all of these people and gathering
all of our new found knowledge, and we were about to be
tested (via blood samples) when Kathy Dane came back in our
room and told me that Dr. Meyers said that she was not
going to test me because of my age. (I am 63 and she wants
the donor to be 50 or less) and since Danny has so many
siblings to choose from, she feels confident that one of
them will be a match.
Let me tell you, it completely blew me away. I had soooo
hoped that I could be the donor, so none of our kids would
even have to worry about it. It will be a major
inconvenience for who ever it is, time off work, away from
home, financial considerations from time off, recovery time
from surgery, etc. So if it were me, it would have been so
much easier for everyone. But, I also want Danny to get the
very best kidney for him. And I know that who ever it is,
will be giving their brother the Gift of Life and what a
blessing that will be for both of them.
They then started the blood work on Danny and Kathy; took
14 vials from Danny and 6 from Kathy. Since Kathy’s blood
type is O, she looks good !
So where we stand now with regard to any of you who have
offered to be tested is this: At this time Danny’s
nephrologist is so certain that a sibling will be a match,
that she is only going to test them for now. If one or 2 of
them are potentials, we won’t have to have anyone else
tested right now. Part of that reasoning is that the
testing is only good for a year. So, since she doesn’t
think Danny will need a donor kidney for a few more years,
there is no need to go further at this time. If, by chance,
in the next few months we find that none of the siblings
are a good match, we will then reach out to those of you
who have so generously offered to be tested. This is just
to know that there are possible donors waiting for when the
time comes. When transplantation time gets closer, the
testing on those potential donors will get more detailed. I
wish all of you could see how wonderful these transplant
people are to work with. Every one of them acts like they
have nothing else to do but sit and chat with us; it really
makes this very serious situation more bearable.
As far as Danny’s every day life goes right now, it is
pretty much the same as everyone else’s. He does get a
little more tired than usual. The biggest adjustment is in
his diet. Because his kidneys are so diseased and are so
shrunken, he has to do all he can not to make them work too
hard. This is done through diet, and believe me, it is
backward from all that we have ever been taught. Protein is
a good thing for us, right ? For Danny, he can only have 60
grams of protein a day because it is really hard on the
kidneys. Who would have ever thought that green, leafy
vegetables were not a good thing ??? They aren’t good for
Danny…they have too much phosphorus or potassium. Bananas,
orange juice, tomatoes aren’t for him anymore. Pizza, ice
cream, chocolate, milk, peanut butter, colas, etc…..have
phosphorus. Danny can have these things, but his amounts
are severely restricted, so to have them would be a major
decision.
I have told Jill many times that I am glad that she is
taking care of him and not me, because it is a huge change
in cooking and eating habits. And it is not a good diet for
Jill, or any of us, so she tries to eat the things that she
should eat, but he can’t at lunch and times when Danny is
not with her. She sure is a great little trooper. I told
her that this sure isn’t what she signed up for when they
got married. And she told me that it was, because she
said “in sickness and health”.

I received a call from Caroline this morning, and Aunt
Virginia passed away last night. She had been in Hospice
for the past two weeks and got weaker each day. We went to
see her a couple of weeks ago and she knew all of us and
was so happy to see us. The dear thing even told us
that "Eunice" had been there to see her. Who knows, maybe
she was! She is being laid out at Rudy's Funeral Home on
VanDyke tomorrow evening between 2 and 9 and the Funeral
is Saturday morning at 9:45 at St. Clements. She had a
wonderful life and has gone on to join her family in
Heaven.

I received a call today from Carolyn Elwart and Aunt
Virginia has been in Beaumont hospital for 3 weeks and they
are stopping her transfusions and she is now in hospice.
Carolyn says she is still alert but weak. She asked me to
let everyone know. She has lived a wonderful life and we
pray for a peaceful homecoming for her. She has been a
member of St. Clement church her entire life. Over 86
years!!!!! Please keep her family in prayers at this
difficult time. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We Love you!!!

Hello Family,
Well, now it's official...Danny will be needing a kidney
transplant. He went to Johns Hopkins on Thursday Nov. 6th
for a biopsy on his kidney to help determine a course of
treatment. The doctor said that to do a biopsy, the
benefit should be greater than the risk, and when he saw
Danny's untrasound,and he didn't think in this case that it
was greater than the risk. Danny's kidneys are so small and
shrunken, they are mostly scar tissue and scar tissue does
not heal; so if he did a biopsy it would leave a hole.
So.... he will need a kindey transplant before 5 years.
What awful news !
Danny then went to see his doctor on Monday Nov. 10th.
He will go to a pre-dialysis class on Dec. 10th, even
though we are still far away from that. On December 15th he
will go back to Hopkins for a transplant evaluation. At
that time those of us who go with him can start to be
tested and we will then learn how others can be tested. He
will meet with a surgeon and a social worker. He will be
assigned a case worker and all of the testing will go
through her.
Regarding me being the donor...the doctor said they prefer
the donor to be under 50 years old. But, I am not totally
out of the ball game yet; Danny asked her if his mother and
a sibling both were equal matches. which one would be used?
She said, that in that case she would use his mother's
kidney and save the younger one for later because a
transplanted kidney only lasts about 20 years.
Danny will continue to be monitored by his doctor at
Hopkins every 3 months.
Regarding the cause of this problem; she didn't know, but
said she would bet on a before birth anomaly; urine may
have backed up into his kidney before he was born.
So, that's our news for now. The strongest message that I
can get out to everyone is to have annual physicals. This
was found in Danny through a routine physical, the back
pain that took him to the doctor had NOTHING to do with
this. We are just so grateful that he had the back pain
that got him there, if not for that we may not have known
this for 4 more years, and the doctor said they don't see
his kidneys lasting him for 5 years ! What trouble we would
have been in then !!! So go get your physicals, even though
they may seem to be so routine; there is lots of good
information gained from them !
In reading over my letter for typos, etc. I must add that
even though I said this was awful news, we are also so
grateful that in this world there is such a thing as kidney
transplants, and that there is dialysis available for this
type of organ failure ! That's a nice back-up ! Thank you,
smart doctors... whoever figured this all out !!!

playing a song of TJ's called "Broken Wagon". His freind
Dave, (who vidio tapes all his shows also made this vidio
for the movie) was the mastermind behind this. He had
Kevin listen to the song and he liked it. Kevin and Teege
are friends too (name dropper). TJ and Gaby were at his
summer home on the 4th of July when he announced his
engagment. Anyway, we're looking forward to this and just

I came up with a couple of stories that I can relate about
Grandpa. In 1985, I went to Michigan on leave (vacation)
from the Navy. I was stationed in Mississippi @ the time,
and I couldn't wear civilian clothes for 3 months. I got to
Grandma & Grandpa's house and all I had was gym clothes.
(other than uniforms)
Grandpa took me to the Pontiac Mall (whatever it was
called 18 yrs ago)and I got to buy clothes!! Real clothes,
not the navy stuff I had grown so tired of. Grandpa was
waiting in the aisle area of the mall and must've been very
patient, because I tried on A LOT of stuff.
One other memory is a rather obscure one from
the '70's. Grandpa was driving thru Union Lake with me,
probably taking me to their house on Perkins. He got a
ticket in 'the village' in Union Lake. I remember him not
being angry nor bad-mouthing the cop when it was all done
and he (the cop) was no longer within earshot. I was
impressed with and proud of his behavior.

We all need to keep Gregg and Laura, Jake, Matt and Danny
in our thoughts for a while. They are all safe, however,
they have been hit hard by the California wildfires. Their
house somehow escaped the fire, but they lost some of their
birds, polebarn/garage, a car, motercycles, damage to their
pool, front yard burned extensively. Also, two deaths that
occurred due to this horrible fire took place painfully
close to their house. I apoligize if any of this info is
slightly incorrect. I spoke to Uncle Bob and Aunt Diane
yesterday and gathered as much information as possible. As
understandable, they were all quite worried and then
relieved after everyone got out safely. I think in some way
the "Stevenson Rule" may have helped out here considering
all are safe and the house was not hit by the fire, and we
are all happy and grateful for that.
Gregg and company, we all Love you and will put our
thoughts and prayers together for you to help you through
this nasty setback. Love your all encompassing Stevenson
Family.

First of all my we be the first to say Happy 52nd birthday
John. We we could join ya all down for a good Alabama
celebration!! Hopefully one of these days! Love You!!
We know this is running ahead of Terry and Chris but we
don't know if their computer is running or if they are just
a bit behind in their letter so we'll proceed on with ours.
First of all we want to congratulate everyone on becoming
parents or grandparents. The Blessings go on. As it said in
our family reunion booklet and God said, "Let there be
Stevenson's". We are so hoping we can once again have
another reunion the day after Jeff and Shelley's wedding.
If you have not marked it in your 2003 Calendar the date is
Saturday June 19 at 2:00 at Church of the Holy Spirit in
Highland. Father Leo will be performing the marriage. The
reception will be at Dunham Hills Country Club in Hartland
Michigan. I have heard from Tom and Esthers family and from
Lisa and Alan but I would love to hear from some of the
other out of towners as to whether there is a chance you
will be able to come to the wedding. We are still working
on the wedding list. There is a new Holiday Inn in
Waterford and a Best Western in Waterford. There are also
some hotels that are actually closer to the reception hall
if anyone would rather stay there. Please let me know if
you would like a brochure and I'll send you some info.
We are pretty much settled into our new nest and we just
love it. I've spent a lot of time in the yard and we are in
a nice neighborhood where everyone keeps up their yards.
Jeff just got a new car and is going to be starting to
attend Eastern Michigan University to study Education. Ben
is in his senior year at Western Michigan but will have to
go for another year to finish his degree. He has fallen in
love with a beautiful young woman named, Erin and we just
love her. She attends University of Michigan. Ben wants
school to be over soooooo bad but he is struggling through.
He is still a resident advisor. Jeff is coaching football
and wrestling for Waterford schools as well as working at
Mesquite Creek. Kelly is still tutoring about 10 kids a
week as well as homeschool teaching at her communtity bible
program she attends. We have returned to Holy Spirit Church
and Fr. Leo is just as wonderful as always. I still work at
Lear Seating and will have 26 years in on November 7. (4
more to go!!!!). We're praying for all of you and our
country as well. Our world needs more prayers than ever
before. We love you all and are looking forward to seeing

Hello, Stevenson family! After all your well-wishing and
concerns for Danny and me, I figured it was finally time
for me to respond. First, I want to thank you all for your
thoughts, prayers and kidney-offerings for my husband these
last few months. It's been a stressful time, but it
doesn't seem so bad, knowing we have all this "back-up" and
support from such a loving family. By the way, we're going
for a 2nd opinion at Johns Hopkins on Oct. 20th. If we
find out anything significant, I'm sure Esther will give
you the update. (Thanks for being on top of it, Mom.)
Next, I'd like to thank all of you well-wishers for helping
to welcome Anita Grace into the world and the family.
She's truly amazing! I could go on and on describing to
you how beautiful she is and how "advanced" I think she is
already (and I'm not biased at all!), but I won't bore
you. You can see for yourselves sometime. :-) While I'm
at it, I can't tell you how grateful I am for the help I've
gotten this past week and 1/2, from Jenny, Esther and
Kathy. They've made sure we have plenty of prepared meals,
and that I get a shower every day (which is close to heaven
for a new mother.) I must add that I was fortunate to have
my own mother stay with me for few days to pick up where
they left off. (I could get used to all this pampering.)
Also, congratulations on the births of Liam and Nelson.
Grace can't wait to play with you at the next reunion.

Congratulations Danny and Jill! How awesome to have
my "little" brother join in the parenthood league. Wish I
could have jumped on a plane yesterday morning to be there
at 11:41! Our kids were thrilled. How cool it was that
Jill's family was able to be there - from New Jersey - they
are about 4 hours away and Danny and Jill called them about
5 am. This is the first grandchild for them! They are so
excited - needless to say.
Carly was asking me about the number of cousins she now
has, so (me being a numbers guy) having just updated my
family chart, told her that Grace is the 15th grandchild
for my parents - making 11 first cousins there. Then the
extended Stevenson family. There are now 68 grand kids and
56 great grand kids - so cousins galore!
Grandma and Grandpa sure did love life! Grace is the 90th
direct descendent from the marriage of Grandma and Grandpa.
In 1938 I'm sure they never dreamed of anything even close
to that - especially since they were both told that they
would not be able to have children.
So now adding marriages, the family is over 150 strong!
Blessed? Oh yeah!
So welcome to our latest babies - Grace, Liam and Nelson!
And congrats to all their parents - each first time parents!

My best memories of grandma and grandpa was every time I
was with them and that was pretty much all of the time by
choice. Has anybody heard that new Luther song My Father,
if you havn't well you must especially all the Aunts and
Uncles because that was Grandma and Grandpa all the way.
So anyways there is not a day in my life that goes on that
I don't think about all the wonderful memories about G&G.
You know that we could write a book just on memories
alone. One of my best memories is staying at G&G house of
course watching the 700 Club, being eight years old or so
it wasn't so bad! Then waking up to Grandmas wonderful
breakfast, and Grandpa telling us to get ready to spend
the day in Detroit that was always so much fun. But if we
didn't listen Grandpa would do that throat thing and that
would be all it took for us to straighten up!

Hey Everyone,
Happy Birthday Nancy. You are so beautiful inside and
out. I hope your birthday has been wonderful.
What I remember about Grandpa is his talent and his
ability to lead a band. I was working at the Grosse
Pointe Yaught Club one New Years Eve and low and
behold his band was playing that evening! I was so
excited I couldn't even stand it.
Later in the evening I had the opportunity to watch him.
He was so intence and focused. I was inspired and so
proud of him.
I owe so much of the choices I made to being a music
teacher/singer/church musician/ect. to Grandpa. As
long as I knew him he had this quiet influence over me
when it came to music.
My favorite memories that I will always charish is being
with all of you at Christmas time and singing around
the piano with my cousins and Grandpa. That was the
BEST!
I'll never forget Jimmy B. singing "Jerimiah was a Bull
Frog."
Now that I've started traveling down memory lane I
could go on and on.
As for Grandma, my heart warms up when I think of
her. Her capacity to love was undiscribable. We are so
blessed to have known and been loved by such an
incredible person.

When I turned 16 (the happiest day of my life) I woke up
with one thing in mind... gettiny my licence !! Guess what?
Mom had something VERY important to do (how dare her) and
she could not take me to get what I've waited a life time
for. Mad, sad, and so bumd out I thought I was going to
have to wait yet another day. Mom said "dad can take you"
I thought "Really?" Why would dad have an afternoon off?
Him and I ? Just the 2 of us? Cool. We left the house,
drove to Fenton MI (24 miles away) got there and I forgot
my birth certificate. SALLY YOU IDIOT !!! Let me tell
you, I know that dad had to be so put out by that that I
was sure I blew getting my licence for that day. We drove
home in complete silence, I wanted to cry my eyes out but
would never do that in front of dad. I got home, went
right to my room and 5 minutes later, dad said "Sal, you
ready" I swear I didn't know what he meant. I said What'd
you say? He said do you have your birth certificate? I
could not believe that he was going to take me ALL the way
back to Fenton. OH HAPPY DAY !! Not only did he take me
all the back, he took me to lunch at a VERY swankie place
called "Hawiian Gardens" it turned out to be one of my
favorite days and my favorite DAD memory. Mom said "See,
he's not that bad" !! I swear, I knew that all along.

a GIANT and I think dad saw that in Mom when she was 15

that early on~ that SHE was the one who would make his life
COMPLETE and boy... HOW SHE DID!

Reading your letter to mom brought a tear to my eye.
Mom was born eighty two years ago today. I remember Mom when
she was 24 year old. World War 2 had just ended we were
living in Detroit on Lauder. This is my oldest memory of
Mom. We were talking about how wonderful it was that the war
was over. It was the first time I remember talking about
god. She was so easy to be with and talk to. Dad didn’t like
to talk about God and stuff like that so it was harder to
get close to Dad but boy, did he LOVE Mom!

Happy Birthday Mom,
Not too many days go by when I do not think of you and wish
I had the opportunity to see you again. I love you very
much, but then so did everyone else who ever knew you.
Lisa had sent out a letter asking everyone to say a little
bit about dad on your birthday, as we always talk about you
and seem to leave dad a little on the quiet side. And you
know what I think she is not too far from the truth.
The greatest thing I can say about dad was that he was
married to you. And the greatest thing I can say about you
was that you were married to dad.
The twelve siblings were the buy product of so much love
that I believe that some people just cannot understand.
Lisa there was a song out from Dan Fogelberg titled "The
Leader of the Band" and the phrases in this song hit home
to a lot of us.
Dad ruled with a Thundering Velvet Hand and ended up with
12 children who could never possibly have loved a father
more then we did.
Till I leave this world I will never forget the most
fitting tribute to mom and it was at her funeral. Dad was
singing the Ave Maria to her and it was on dad's birthday
and Father Leo said "happy birthday James, God has given
you the greatest present of all - Eunice" That was the
saddest day of my life and the happiest day in mom & dad's
life to be together again.
I'm sure we could all fill pages and pages of stories about
dad, I know I could. So I will just say that I was blessed
to have a father like him and a mother who loved him so
dearly.

Tony and I just got back from NY. We were there for 9/11

cool" SWING club to watch Gabby dance (I could have stayed
there ALL night, how cool!!!) and did all the other
touristy things one does in the big apple. We never made
it to ground zero but watch alot of the goings on on TV.
We were expecting sad and somber but instead found
everyone to be super!! I've loved NY since I first went
there in 1967 with the family to see James and his family.
TJ loves it too... so much that he's thinking of moving
there himself (SOON).
Anyway, to any of you eastcoasters, he's got some gigs
there and surrounding areas until the end of the month.

Happy Labor Day folks !! As Tony and I labor over this
house of ours. We could so relate to Johnny asking anyone
if they get 80% of their house done and take forever to
finish the rest (that's the story of our life). Actually,
TJ thinks we aren't happy unless we're remodeling. We have
gotten pretty good at it, although this time (since our
friend died) we aren't in any hurry, it'll get done sooner
or later and good Lord willing, we aren't going anywhere.
However, when Teeges' ship comes in... Arizona is sounding
real good to us too!!
Here comes my circle letter. I warn you all though that I
AM a really bad speller and hope I catch my mistakes before
you do. Tony and I are great, and for the most part we've
had a wonderful summer. The house is coming along
beautifly and the nieghbors all drive by in their boats and
rave. (I am e-mailing some photos out one of these days.
I need young Nan or Janie to show me the ropes). Stevenson
and
Mattie Moo, as we lovingly call her are growing up so
cute. We have more fun with them then words can say.
Everything you've ever heard about being a grandparent is
true. The other day was watching them and they were both
being SOOOOO silly and laughing really hard when Stevenson
said "Oh Grams, I'm laughing so hard I'm going to pee my
pants!!!" 3&1/2. Then I started to laugh so hard too
because it reminded me of my trip to San Diego...one of us
DID laugh so hard that we peed our pants. I can't remember
now what we were laughing at but it could have been
something Mike Stevenson said or did. He just had to come
along for the ride. What fun we had!! Anyway, Ami Jane
has turned into the most beautiful women and mother in the
world. She blesses me daily !! Matt, well he's a pretty
good guy too. TJ is still hard at work trying to make his
3rd CD. He looks great and has fallen hard for a cutie in
NY. Her name is Gabby. We hope to meet her at
Thanksgiving. I got to see his groovy little pad while out
west this time. It's very small but he loves it. His new
stuff is so good. This October Tony will have 29 years in
at GM and in February he'll have 30 years in with me !!
We want to welcome all the new babies, and those to come,
into the family. Good Luck again to Don and Kelly and their
cute new family and to anyone who's thinking of adding on
to the Stevenson's. And speaking of family, Tony and I
want to have the family picnic the day after Jeff and
Shelly's wedding at our house but we'll hold the club house
just incase it rains. I'll talk more about that later. Oh
what fun, another wonderful wedding to look forward to!! We
hope as many as possiable can make it. We miss you all, and

Congratulations to Kelly and Don on your beautiful wedding.
I feel very fortunate to have been able to go to
California (yet again) for a GREAT weekend and to share in
their big day. The weather was perfect as usual for San
Diego and the wedding was excellent. Kelly and Don did one
of the coolest things I've ever seen at a wedding. Kelly
and Don's two girls, Megan and Laura joined hands together
and Kelly told them that she loved their Daddy very much
and that she loved them too. She said she would always be
there for them and then gave each of the girls a special
necklace. Don then did the same thing with Madison. It was
awsome. Just to make sure there was not a dry eye in sight,
they also had Bob and Diane, whose 40th Anniversary was the
next day, come up and renew their wedding vows before Kelly
and Don said theirs.It was quite a fun surprise for them as
well as all of the people watching the wedding. I'm sure I
speak for everyone in welcoming Don to the Stevenson family
and also to commend Kelly for picking out such a good guy
in Don and his adorable little girls. Special thanks as
always should go out to Uncle Bob and Aunt Diane for all
their arrangements in getting everyone to and from, a roof
over eveyones heads, pillows and blankets, beds, showers,
beers, pool, sun and fun. We all love you alot !!!!! Love,

Ok, I was trying to demo the fact that we could still do one liners...and I

strange....
anyways, I've been thinking some more about the one liners biz.....I've
come up with an idea and I wanted to know what people thought about
it.
Here's the idea:
1: Don't require the addition of any info but then instead
of sending out a notice about it just modify the program to cancel
notification of that kind of addition. In order for a notice to be sent
out everything would have to have some text in it; The e-mail, the title,
and the text.
Not everything filled out=No Circle Letter Notification
What do y'all think? (spoken with an Alabama drawl).

and Women’s Hospital in
Boston reported in the August,
2003 issue of the Journal of
the American Society of
Nephrology showed that apparently
healthy men with low HDL (high
density lipoprotein), the
“good” cholesterol, and high
LDL (low density lipoprotein) or
“bad” cholesterol and
triglycerides have twice the normal risk
of reduced kidney function. The
study included more than
4,000 initially healthy men
whose blood levels were checked
an average of 14 years apart.
The findings were alarming
because reduced kidney function
can lead to kidney failure, a
chronic life-threatening
condition that makes one susceptible
to malnutrition, anemia and
bleeding, hypertension, seizures,
neuropathy, and a host of other
dangerous metabolic
disorders. According to the
National Institutes of Health
(NIH), between 10 and 20
million Americans have early-stage
kidney disease. Because failing
kidneys often don’t cause any
obvious initial symptoms, many
people have no idea that
they’re affected. Once
detected, controlling one’s diet, blood
pressure and cholesterol may
help slow the loss of kidney
function while reducing the
risk of heart disease and stroke.
The only treatments for kidney
failure are dialysis and
transplant.
A month before the study
findings were published, the NIH
launched a major new study to
look at the health of people
with chronic kidney disease, in
an effort to understand why
this condition worsens rapidly
in some people and why some
are more prone to heart disease
than others. The six-year
study will recruit 3,000
volunteers at seven medical centers
throughout the United States.

In addition to low HDL and high
LDL and triglycerides, risks of
kidney disease include
diabetes, high blood pressure or a
history of kidney problems.
Risks are higher than average
among African Americans,
Hispanic Americans and Native

urine test for kidney disease.
If you have low HDL (less than
40 mg/dl) and high non-HDL
cholesterol (your total
cholesterol minus your HDL is
higher than196.1), you could be
at increased risk for kidney
disease, according to results of
the Brigham and Women’s study.
You can raise HDL by
increasing exercise, drinking
alcohol moderately, and eating
only healthy fats
(monounsaturates such as olive oil and
omega-3s from sources like
salmon and sardines). Taking
prescription statin drugs also
will help, although I prefer
natural alternatives such as
red rice yeast.

were plucking people from the tops of their cars which had become little

I have a confession to make... I was the one first person
after Johnny to enter a "one liner" because I thought it
was fun the way Johnny prepared us for his upcoming
contribution to the bi-weekly NEW family circle letter with
his one liner: please stand by ...etc...
So then I wrote "coming soon to a circle letter near you"
and it went a little bit too much from there but personally
I didn't think it was annoying or harmful because it wasn't
something WEIRD or OUT OF THE ORDINARY like that spam we
saw entered a few months ago...now THAT was annoying!!!!
But these were just family members joking around with each
other (at least that is how I perceived them) and they took
all of 2 seconds to read through and then Esther entered
her letter that was a normal non joking and serious one
with important info and then on went the continuation of
the entries...nothing really to get
annoyed by...the individual letters just continued like
they always do...everyone entering what they feel at the
time.
Well...I am on the side of the "lighten up a bit"too..
I can understand if those family members really thought we
were being spammed by an INTRUDER but I never perceived
that we were...
it was kinda like a tiny "verbal" food fight....
maybe some might think it was immature~ but others are just
trying to "lighten up" an already TOO HEAVY world in which
we
ALL have to be in for most of our waking life...to me it
was like:
the part in the movie SCROOGE whereScrooge's nephew and
his fiance are all dressed up in their prim and proper
clothes when suddenly they get a little kiddish feeling
come over them and decide to act a little "improper" and
slide down the slippery sidewalk like only "kids" are
suppose to...
Well...that is what I think it was like ...some think it
was annoying ...some think it was having a bit of fun...
I sure hope this incident doesn't come between
this "LOVING" family of ours...
Of course I think we're all too "adult" to let something
like that happen...
It never ceases to amaze me how even in a family as close
as ours...it can STILL get weird...
HOW SAD.

Cole and Amy are GREAT.

Scott, You know that I totally agree with you. I too, have
found these one line titles with no message following them
to be very annoying and a waste of time. It would be so sad
if any of us ever got a notice that there was a new letter
on the circle, and we ignored it because we thought it was
more "junk mail."
I only hope, Scott, that you don't feel that you have to
explain your feelings to us to justify them. You certainly
don't ! My guess would be that the majority of us agree
with you.
I personally don't think that every letter has to be of
earth shaking proportions. I love the fun letters; the
every day stuff, the old stories, the birthday and
anniversary wishes; certainly the births of the newest
members of our family.....and of course the serious
stuff....like when James and Suzanne were sick, and now us
with Danny's kidney situation. All the stuff, good and bad,
that makes up a family.
How blessed we are to be able to communicate to so many of
us so quickly with our wonderful circle letter. I just ask
that if anyone has anything to say, please give us all of
the common courtesy of letting us know who you are. Don't
you get irritated when you get a phone call and your caller
ID says.."caller unknown" ???I don't answer those calls.
We're looking forward to seeing the family in San Diego on
Friday...and for you older siblings who remember, after
San Diego Tom and I will be going to Fresno to see Jack
Beacom...remember him from your childhood??? Then we go to
San Francisco for another wedding.
This is our wedding season...we have 4 weddings to go

Ok, so I've been talking about being annoyed about one liners which is
my personal point of view, obviously not everyone has been annoyed
with the one liners but as I was thinking about it a logic came to mind
(that is somewhat stronger than a personal feeling of annoyance)
about why one liners don't make sense for the circle letter.
Ok, so let's say that one liners are allowed to happen and after a rather
short amount of time the e-mail with the Subject: New Circle Letter
becomes so common that little by little no one pays attention to these
little notices because heck why bother? It's probably not going to be
something 'important'. Ok so after a while few people are paying
attention to the notices and those same few are the ones going to the
site. So then one day Danny needs a kidney and to help get the word out
the Tom and Esther bunch makes an addition to the web circle letter.
Does anyone pay attention? No, because....it's probably just a one liner.
So no point in going to the circle letter to see what's going on.
Essentially all of those e-mail notices about the one-liners have did what
the boy who cried wolf did and we know that no one payed attention to
him....but lo and behold a real wolf came along and who cried, 'Wolf!' ?
The first to see him, the little boy and no one payed attention....so all I'm
asking is that the circle letter doesn't become this little boy.
For those who have been making anonymous posts, I ask you....does
that make sense??

Not quite sure how lil Nan's last one liner slipped through with no e-mail
address there but I've just altered the final program that does the actual
adding to the letter...if that program doesn't find an e-mail address....no
letter is added and whatever was written will be lost.
Joy, when the one liners started out it was somewhat amusing but after
awhile it got really really old and tiring...especially when there would be
like 4 or 5 consecutive one liners. I really felt like it lessened the circle
letter experience. I suppose some of the anons took pleasure in people
being annoyed....for me that's not cool.
I'm now so annoyed that I'm actually thinking of rewriting the program
entirely where one would have to actually add some text...in addition to
the title and the obligatory e-mail address.
I foresee the possibility that some people will do stupid stuff where they
enter in false e-mail addresses and in that case the next step would be
to do some sort of authentication where each time you wanted to use
the circle letter you'd have to enter a username and a password....which
would be another annoyance but to me preferable to essentially being
spammed by my own creation. I can't express to you the amount to
which I detest spam and when I get circle letter notices and go to read a
letter and find a one line title with no name, it to me is essentially spam.
This last idea has already been proposed by uncle Dan to stop strangers
from posting spam ads like what already happened awhile ago.
So if my tone is serious then please know it's not without reason.
I too like to kid around and have fun....but not at the expense of others.

I agree that these anonymous titles are obnoxious and
useless.
I get enough junk mail in my mail box, and on my email, and
anonymous phone calls. I don't like them on something as
special as our family circle letter. To me, it is such a
treasure, I don't like to see it used for such silly stuff.

I've been here four days and It´s my last day here (I´ll be
leaving in a couple of hours) but I thought I´d just drop a
note to you all.
It appears as though I need to update the family circle
letter mechanism to prohibit the adding of letters without
an e-mail address. I have found these virtually useless
titles and no letters very very annoying and once I return
to Paris and get settled I´ll be putting a stop to this
nonsense.
A quick congrats to Gary Hull (and his family) on the birth
of their child...and also Congrats to Danny and Jill on the
birth of their child! And to those who´ve been celebrating
anneversaries may you have many more!
Danny, I hope that your medical regimen will see you to
better health soon!

Kidney Update...finally !!
Hello family,
Finally we have Danny's biopsy results....
here goes..remember that we are not medical people...so I
will try to make this as clear as I understand it.
...Danny has scar tissue on his kidneys..(probably from a
childhood strep infection)
...he will take Prednisone...60 mgs. a day to decrease the
inflamation.
...He will take Prilosec..to ease the stomach problems that
Prednisone may cause.
...He will take Vasotec..which is a blood pressure
medication for minor arterial sclerosis (which is hardening
of the arteries around the kidneys)
He will try this for a few months...then take another urine
test to see if he is still losing protein.
If this doesn't work...the next step is to go to more toxic
and more expensive medications. At that time Danny will
also go to Johns Hopkins for a second opinion.
The nephrologist says there is a 50/50 chance of this
current treatment working.
So....at this point .....Danny will give it a try...and
think positive...and spend the next 6 weeks looking forward
to the birth of his and Jill's first baby !!! That can
surely keep a person smiling !!!
Any advice or info that any of you have to share would, as
always, be most appreciated !

Ok, It's Only John's Turn........
Well Good Morning Everyone!!!
Or perhaps I should say Good Afternoon for some...
and maybe even Happy September for others...I know I'm a
day late, and I certainly know that I'm a dollar short,
but at least I've got electricity! I hope that those of
you involved with that are OK....I tried to call everyone
in Michigan, but had no luck....I guess it will surely be
a different sort of Dream Cruise on Woodward this year
(huh Jane)
As far as Alabama goes, we are enjoying perhaps the
coolest summer on rercord....it hasn't gotten over 92 all
year...alway's in the low 70's at night (many time in
the summer it wouldn't go below 80 at night, and over 100
was common....with 98 percent humidity) We've had lot's
of rain this year and
everything is still as green as May....We also got a got
a new boat, (new to me) a 17.5 ft. Maxum runabout I/O....
I'm thinking something like Gerry had. Anyways it's super
nice and we have been enjoying the lake a lot....
(sometimes I feel just like Dad) We go on Smith lake, if
you look at a map of Alabama in the North Central area,
you'll see it....it has over 500 miles of shoreline.. and
you can ski or tube or wakeboard for 50 miles one
way...Andy is getting better on the wakeboard everytime we
go out. Speaking of Andy, He is now a high schooler!!!!!
hard to believe, and James is in 1st grade this year
(James can make the tube jump the wake) He'll start
wakeboarding next year. Joy and I are still working
together at www.agristeelbuildings.com It's the same
location that we worked together back in the 80's. She's
the office manager, and I take care of the retail
division. I finally put up the last pieces of crown
in our upstairs hallway. Do any of you do that? Take a
project to 98% completion and then just let it go? I'm
terrible about that!! Our Church is building a GIANT new
worship center and education complex.... It look's like
something you'd see in Orlando or Atlanta....The sanctuary
(2000 seats I think) has wrap around theater seats and is
designed sort of like Pine Knob.....it even has a cat walk
over the stage area...we hope to be in sometime around
Christmas... We planted a pretty good size garden this
year...
It's 30 x 125 and Joy has enjoyed just playing in it,
although
it sure looks like hard work to me...She loves saying Go
get a couple of tomatoes or cucumbers for supper. I still
go fishing in our ponds when I get a chance...usually
don't catch anything (although I have gotten a 6 lb. bass
before) but I just enjoy throwing it out and reeling it
back in. We sure would enjoy some visitors...We've got 2
spare bedroom's now (Andrew decided to turn the basement
into his bedroom) so as they say on television "Come on
down!!

Dear Family and Friends,
Our son Liam Daniel Stevenson was born on Monday, August
11, 2003 at 2:45 am. He weighed 9 lbs 5 oz and was 21" long
(his head measured 14.5 cm in circumference, and I am sure
Amy will never forgive me for that). The first 26 hours of
labor were comparatively mild, but during the final 10 (and
ESPECIALLY the last 3) hours Amy proved definitively that
she is tough as nails by sticking to her goal of a natural
child birth--no pain medication of any kind. Unfortunately
Amy did experience some fairly heavy blood loss
(approximately 1200 cc, or about 3 times normal) and had to
receive two injections of pitocin and an IV drip. The
