Happy Thanksgiving from Paris!

Well, Happy Thanksgiving Greetings from Paris! Ordinarily I would be in California with my immediate family to celebrate  today but in view of Ben & Erin's wedding I've altered my plans for  coming to the U.S. so that I can come and be at their wedding on the  17th of December. The last few years I've been in California for this  holiday so it's a bit odd to be here in Paris, France where Thanksgiving  isn't observed (obviously). I am aware however that in some American  communities here Thanksgiving is celebrated. Today my mom & dad  (Suzanne & James), Zip & Liz (with kids Sophie and Flora) and Star &  Jennifer, are all going to get together and have Thanksgiving dinner at  Jerry & Cindy's (with their kids Nick and Lindsay). I've previously had the  pleasure of eating some holiday meals at their place and I can tell you  that I'm rather envious of those that can be there because Jerry & Cindy  know how to prepare a meal! LOL! As well, if they're lucky, Star &  Jennifer will show up with another awesome cake (like the delicious  chocolate cake they brought a few years back that had a 'tree' theme  with chocolate twigs to munch on). Hopefully someone amongst that  group will have read this letter and share the fact that I'm thinking of  them with everyone there.... ;-)  So, despite all of that, no one should be too sad for me for while I'm  missing out on having a great Thanksgiving meal amongst loving family  members today, the upside is that I've arranged my upcoming travel  plans to be in Michigan from the day before the wedding until the 27th  of December... so I'll be able to soak up much love then!.... hehe. Looking forward to seeing some other Thanksgiving greetings here and  looking forward to being in Michigan next month! Happy Thanksgiving to the family from Tom & Esther. Among my favorite Thanksgiving memories is of the one when  our extended Stevenson family was HERE in Salisbury for  Danny and Jill's wedding. Thanksgiving dinner is my absolute favorite dinner to  prepare ....and to be fixing it for all of you...with  Brian and so many others of you helping in MY KITCHEN was  over the top for me. I will ALWAYS treasure that time. I  knew at the time that it may be the only time in my life  that we would have you here in Salisbury for  Thanksgiving...so it was HUGE for me ! WE MISSED YOU SCOTT

Yes, Scott we had a marvelous Thanksgiving dinner at  Jerry and  Cindy's lovely home. They even had deliscious healthy butternut  squash soup. Everyone here met Flora for the first time. She is the daughter Zip  and Liz adopted from Khazistan when she was 12 months old. She  is a peach full of love and smiles. She is not afraid of anyone even  strangers. Zip and Liz are doing a fantastic job with Sophie's help  of course.  As we were nearing home I said to James, "The only thing missing  was SCOTT and James responded, "I was thinking the same  thing." My greatest joy is being with all our children and grandchildren.  their is nothing else that even comes close. Flora Stevenson ?!?!?

Hi everyone !!     Love seeing all these letters up on the web again. Praise  God for this wonderful holiday season!! We too had an  awsome Thanksgiving.  A real mix bag.. We got to go up  north to the Sakalains "Moose Lodge" It is a 6 bedroom, 4  bath, to dye for kitchen, 5ft plasma TV to watch the Lions  loose their butts off to or to cook to, or listen to Tj on  a stereo system only heard at BEST BUY.  There was Ami Jane  and her family, Matts uncle, his girlfreind and daughter,  Matts sister Sandy and her new Husband Jeramy, Big Tony and  Marylyn. It snowed just enough to look like a winter  wonderland.  It was great.    I hope all you with November birthdays had good ones.   Joy honey, I can't believe I forgot yours !!!  I'm so  sorry. I'm sure it was a happy one.     Now, Flora... when !! How !!  Her birthdate Please !! SANTA CLAUS

Dear Family: I was writing in my journal this morning and I realized  that today, December 6th, is the feast of Santa Claus  (formerly known as St. Nicholas).  I was thinking that St.  Nicholas or Santa Claus is a type of Jesus.  He was a  bishop of the church in about 325 A.D. and was known for  his great love and kindness...especially to children.  He  was known to be a giver of gifts.  Santa Claus brings  gifts on Christmas eve to the whole world...just as the  Father gives His perfect gift on Christmas Eve to the  whole world in order that we might be saved...the free and  priceless gift of salvation through the birth of the  Christ Child, the Messiah, the anointed One of God,  Jesus.  What an amazing gift! I just thought I'd share this with you all and wish you a  most joyfilled Christmas and many blessings during the  coming year. A Miracle

JAMES SURGERY TOMORROW

EMERGENCY prayer request

Sisters and brothers of faith, please pray for Cheryl  Krul, the mother-in-law of my sister Sherry. Cheryl has  been a healthy 55-ish year-old woman. She will be  operated on in about six hours for the largest brain  turmor the doctors have ever seen. I don't know any  details - my sister couldn't even talk. They are all at the  hospital now. She did say it doesn't look good. James (my dad) sailed on through!

As no doubt many already know James my dad's surgery was a complete  success! :-) Ok, so I'm arriving in Detroit's Wayne airport this Thursday the 16th at  8:33 P.M. (Flight #1404 arriving from Paris via Chicago).  I've arranged to stay at Tony & Sally's and Uncle Gerry was kind enough  to offer to come and get me at the airport but with the wedding so close  I was thinking that maybe someone else could perhaps come and pick  me up so that he can attend to any last minute details if need be. Sooo.... who's might be free and able to come pickup old Scott? :-)) I mentioned to aunt Sally that since I was going to be staying until the  27th that I was hoping to work it out and possibly stay for a couple/few  nights with some other folks and get a chance to spread my visiting  time. So if there's anyone who'd like to have an out of town visitor stay  over a night then let me know! ;-) looking forward to seeing everyone!! More prayers please...

Thank you all for your prayers. My sister Sherry's mother-in-law, Cheryl Krul, made it  through the surgery. The doctors removed the tumor,  but left its shell as there was already brain swelling.  Cheryl was unresponsive before the operation, which  was not good. She is in a drug-induced coma for three  days as they watch the brain swelling - the third day is  supposed to be the worst day for this. Please pray for  God's healing power to come upon her. Please also  pray for my sister Sherry and their baby due any day...  this is quite a stress on her.  With heartfelt thanks, Jeanne - Sunday, December 12, 2004 at 08:57:45 (PST) Author: jeannestevenson@wowway.com

Cheryl Krul

Thank you all for your prayers for my sister Sherry's  mother-in-law, Cheryl Krul. I am so saddened to tell you  she did die yesterday evening - she was 57. May God's  eternal light shine upon her. I pray our Lord will send  His holy angels to surround the family in this time of  extreme sorrow. Please pray my sister's baby holds off  a few more days so they can get through the funeral,  which will be on Friday at Our Lady of Refuge. Grasping for some of my own advice...

Well,  Here I am one night writing with support and peacful words  and prayers, and the next night writing to ask for some  faith and prayers from you.       I just found out that one of my old best friends from  school who has had an extremely rare case of Leukemia, and  has been on the road to recovery,is no longer able to  fight an infection in her stomach and she will come home  tomorrow with the hospice. They think that there is a  chance she could die as soon as Friday. Not only is she,  her name is Tess, fighting for her life, but her dad is  most likely getting layed off by K-mart headquarters in  January. Needless to say I am in need of some comforting  Stevenson family prayer. I know that we are talking about  a miracle, but either way I am praying for peace over this  whole season and every family who is in pain this year.  Times like these never cease to remind us how precious our  lives are but still, how easy it is to forget the way we  feel in times or tragedy. You know, it is just so hard to  remember to praise God in all that we do, even when that  is the last thing we want to do.  Thanks, everyone for everything, We are so truly blessed  by the support system we have in God and in our amazing  loving family. I just wish I felt better... it's like I  can't express my feelings, I just feel numb. But I do know  that if we loose our faith in the Lord we are left with  nothing, and it will only make our lives more difficult  and empty. I really love you all and miss you like crazy... Trust and Mercy

Sarah, the only advice coming to my mind right is for  Trust!  Lay your burdens at His precious feet and trust  in Him.  So many things we do not understand here, but  his mercy endures.  Seek it as you pray for her and  enjoy the time you have with her.  There is always room  for miracles if it is God's will, so don't fear asking.  You  never know how this may be answered!! Spending Christmas with Jesus Christ...

Hello everyone...  Today was a sad day. My friend Tressa VanAnda passed away  on Tuesday and today was the funeral. A little earie when  you think about what our family was doing eighteen years  ago today...  I think it was one of the saddest funerals I've ever  attended. I saw so many of my old freinds, some that I  hadn't seen in almost three years. You know it's funny how  our group of friends work, it was like one of our soldiers  went down and we were all back together, carrying each  other along to try to hold on. The main things that I keep  thinking and praying about are how peacful she must be and  that what we all can't wait to find out... now she knows!  It's a pretty heavy idea to ponder.    This holiday season has been a little strange but I know  that the Lord has a big plan for all of us, I just have to  keep my faith and keep praying for endurance to barrel  through the challenges He presents in my life... God Bless this holiday season, and I hope that everyone has  a wonderfully blessed Christmas! Thank you for your prayers for my sister, Sherry. She  and her husband Ian had their baby on Wednesday.  Joseph William was born by C-section and was 9 lbs. 2  oz. and 19-1/2 in. long. They're doing well and relishing  the new life and joy! Ho Ho Ho

Oh What fun!

Sally Jean~ I couldn't agree more~A 2005 STEVENSON family reunion (for  no reason at all) sounds good to me! In spite of many obstacles~We too, had a FABULOUS  Christmas... this is the first year since Dad passed away  that I wasn't ready for it... up till Christmas  Eve,the only thing adorning our house for the holidays was  a tree with just lights on it!!!  Now for those of you who know me~ you know that means I  must have been a crazy person cuz I have 33 years worth of  decorations and most years I am totally done by December  1st :) BUT THIS YEAR FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER I COULD  NEVER GET AROUND TO IT ...working crazy manager  hours,practicing at church for Sunday singing, yada yada  yada... so~ Here it was Christmas Eve EVE...Sarah and I were just NOW  doing our shopping for gifts for the first time.  Seriously...it was the ONLY time we had a chance to do it!  Then CHRISTMAS EVE we were in this huge two show production  at our church which(no lie)was like the Perry Como  Christmas Special~ complete with power driven sleigh  going across the stage and artificial snow falling...  by the time we got home, it was pretty late and STILL  I had the gifts to wrap, pies to bake,and NO decorations...  I almost thought "WHY BOTHER?" I mean,Christmas was here  already ~ it would be OVER in 24 hours... but I couldn't  STAND the thought so I began the frenzied task!!!   I decorated till I couldn't see anymore~ went to sleep at  5:00 am woke up again at 8:00 am to finish decorating right  up till the kids came over at around 11:30!!! I only had  out about 1/2 of the decorations that I normally put out  but it was FULL of Christmas cheer and whew~ I was  THRILLED!!!  Cole and Amy arrived with the kids and baby Conner was  decked out in a full Santa suit complete with black patent  leather boots!!! OH MY GOSH what a sight!!! Cody was  smiling from ear to ear at how cute his little brother  looked!!! Sarah, Nick and Grandma Garlak were already there  and after everyone opened presents~ the last gift from  Cole was a recording of him singing THE CHRISTMAS SONG and  needless to say most of us were crying... Cole said he is  going to make it an annual tradition!! I already can't wait  till next year! So now I've decided I'll leave my decorations up till  SPRING!!! (No just kidding!)but can you guess what my NEW  YEAR'S RESOLUTION is going to be????  To start getting prepared for next year's Christmas in  AUGUST!!!!! I kicked my first semesters BEHIND!

Just thoguht I would let you all know that my THREE-IN-A- ROW all nighters (seriously) during last semester paid  off, I finished my first semester at CCS with a 3.0!!!! I  was thrilled to see that. Not exactly as great as I  wanted, but I can only learn from my mistakes (like a C in  woodshop!!!!), and move forward- so it's alright!  Well, my mom pretty much painted a clear picture  for you of our Christmas! So all I can say is... Hello Everybody, This thing called the circle letter is a magical vehicle for our family.  Thank to the Amish, (originally followers of a Swiss Mennonite Bishop named  Jacob Amman/1693) and their tradition of writing a extended letter that went  from family to family (introduced to our family by Tom and Esther), we have  this wonderful communication tool. With this tool we are able to get a broad  understanding of the goings on of are ever expanding family. Scott started  this "online" circle letter on May 13, 1998, more than six years ago. Awww Moth....

Moth is for MOTH -er!!!!!  That just touched my heart! But I do agree this whole idea  of how much we take everything for granted has really got  my brain ticking as well. I mean not only time, but life  and exsistance! I mean honestly- How many of  those people, tourists, or little children woke up that  morning and thought, " Gee, I better hangout on some high  ground today... just in case my reality and normalness get  ripped out from under me..." It's anal and obsessive but  how many seconds a day do we go about "life" without  packing our gaurd! If this past year has taught me  ANYTHING, it is to never do ANYTHING with out  my gaurd, because the second I put it down even for one  little second the evil things in this world (including  natural disasters) are armed and ready on the other side  to come spilling, or, charging through. Just like  all of that water did to the land of Asia. I just know  that now more than ever we all need to prepare ourselves  for something crazy, or at least have a plan (even if it's  in the very very back of our minds), because you never  know. This world and earth as a whole is groaning and I  have a feeling we are in the beggining of something major  right now. Not to sound too cliche'-ish, but everything  going on right now has  taken my thoughts on a lot of different things and put  them in a different light-  I love you all and I hope and pray that if, God forbid,  anything totally crazy ever does happen it falls around a  huge family function so that we are all together, I  wouldn't want it any other way. PRAYER FOR OUR SOLDIERS iN ELECTION DAYS IN IRAQ

Dear Family, This letter was sent to me by my friend Claire. Our boys used to  babysit her son Josh. He has been to Bagdad and back in the  Army. Even if you don't take the Bible literally I feel strong about  praying. It certainly has worked in our family many times. I can only  imagine how fearful it is for these soldiers and their loved ones. HUSSEY/BOUDREAU UPDATE

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone! This St. Patrick's Day is extra special this year after  our wonderful trip to Ireland from December 29th until  January 11th.  Our dream has always been to someday go to  Ireland (being that Brian is 100% Irish)and we finally did  with Lou and Kathleen.  What a wonderful, loving country  it is and very beautiful.  No wonder people call it their  second home once they've visited there.  We had the best  time and hope to go back someday. We also took a second vacation already this year and went  to Chandler, Arizona where the accomdations were second to  none and the hospitality superb!  Bob and Diane's home is  one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.  I just loved  walking around in it and enjoying Diane's great tast in  decorating.  We also went to Phoenix and spent some time  with the Hussey boys:  Tom, Mark, John, and now Matthew;  also Dana and the kids, Cody and Savannah.  We went  fishing one day and Cody was the only one who caught a  fish, a large mouth bass.  Sally and Nancy joined up with  us for four days and we went to the Ocean Club where Mark  and Matt work.....a fabulous restaurant for the rich and  famous.  (We were fortunate enough to receive a family  discount).  Lou and Kathleen joined us also toward the end  of our stay and once again we went to the Ocean Club.  The  food was extraordinary.  Mimi came home from the hospital  while we were there.  She is so sweet and Diane is a model  daughter, I must say.  The last weekend of our stay we  went to Dan and Nancy's and the guys golfed and we had a  great visit.  We found the greatest church about a mile  from their house called Phoenix First Assembly.  It was  awesome....that's all I can say.  Tom Hussey has now made  it his church home. Nancy has moved back to Novi this week into a nice home on  Christina Lane.  My ex-sister-in-law, Mary Anne Uetz is  one of the smartest people I know.  She has lived in the  same house in Dearborn Heights for over 50 years.  Can you  imagine that?  Anyway, I'm glad to say that Nancy has a  faith that enables her to get through any circumstances  and I'm very proud of her.  In every family there are ups  and downs but there are always many blessings to be  thankful for and this is the time of a great spiritual  awakening in the earth...very exciting indeed. I'm so happy that spring is just aroung the corner.   Easter time is a time for new beginnings and a time to  celebrate.  I was happy to hear the news about Kelly  having a baby boy.  That's very cool.  Also I wanted to  mention that Brian's oldest sister who is a Dominican Nun  will be turning 79 on Saturday, March 18th and I sent her  a sampling of eight of your beautiful stationery designs,  Jeanne.  I know she will love them as she corresponds  quite regularly with the family. Well, I think that's all the news for now.  I'm looking  forward to the "cousins" party at Carolyn's on April  10th.  This could be the beginning of a new tradition in  the LaDuke family instead of the reunion.  We'll see. I Am Late

GO TERRI!

Scott, you can barge into the circle letter anytime  with great news like that.  We have been watching the case  and you are right.....no way is she in a vegetative state! All I can say is PRAISE THE LORD that our legislative body  passed the bill that saved her life until the number of  days meant for her to live is fulfilled.  And I thank God  for a president who came back from his home in Texas to be  there to sign that bill immediately.  We must always  choose life!     Also in my last letter I forgot to thank Lisa for  making a copy of our CD "Created to Worship You" for her  sound man at her church.  Her pastor said "bring it on in"  and they play it before and after services.  That's pretty  cool.  That CD is all over the world.  Only God knows  whose hearts it touches and we're so grateful.     Speaking of services, I also forgot to mention that  last Wednesday night, Brian and I went to Northridge  Church in Plymouth.  This church is a very large church  where many top name Christian artists come to hold their  concerts.  It has three large screens and a top notch full  orchestra and choir with the best sound equipment  available and guess what?  Jim Boudreau and Doug French  and a cello player from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra  were performing....just the three of them. Doug on  acoustic guitar and Jim with the solo on a beautiful song  about the cross of Jesus in living color on the screen big  as life.  What an exciting thing to see these two cousins  ministering to thousands of people.  It was awesome!  Doug  is now the lead guitar player for this church and Jim has  become widely used as a worship leader and soloist.       That's my addendum to my last circle letter.      Once again, everyone have a blessed Easter! I pray that Terri's family will gain FULL custody of her  and will be allowed to take care of her till her life on  this earth is through!!! After I heard that her "husband"  has been living with another woman and has two children  with her... I can't conceive WHY that man would even CARE  if Terri's family WANTS to take over her care...  JUST  DIVORCE HER ... and move on with his current family and  life situation... GET HER OUT OF HIS LIFE!!!!and let the  people who TRULY LOVE her take care of her... Is it a money  issue??? IS he waiting for some inheritence???? There  doesn't seem like a reason on earth that Terri's "husband"  has the right to keep her family from even visiting her or  letting her go outside or have a window open in her room...  what is WRONG with this picture???? As far as I am  concerned, when he started this new family with his now  live in partner and their two children that is when all  ties to Terri should have been legally severed ... there  must be some TRUST FUND waiting for him once she dies???  Unfortunately I have NOT been able to follow the whole  story but the bottom line is: If Terri's family is willing  to continue the LOVING burden of caring for her until her  life NATURALLY ends...and her SO CALLED husband is NOT  WILLING... I say PRAISE GOD that our government system is  on the side of Terri's family!! MS Walk

Women are Leading the Way

Hi All, Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the springtime. I just came from a benefit luncheon for our junior Senator, Maria Cantwell, who is up for re-election next year. She was joined by all of the other female Democratic Senators (except Senator Clinton, who could not make it) and it was really a treat to hear all of them speak--Barbara Boxer (CA), Mary Landrieu (LA), Blanche Lincoln (AR), Patty Murray (WA), Barbara Mikulski (MD), and Debbie Stabenow (MI). They were all stumping for Maria, and they remarked on how impressive it is that Washington state has a female Governor and two female Senators--the first time this has ever happened in our country. It was inspiring to see all of these women leaders, and hear them talk about how they are fighting for better education, childcare, environmental protection, reproductive choice, healthcare, and numerous other issues. Afterwards I met Sen. Stabenow, and learned that she is a Spartan just like my folks. She was really friendly and refreshingly down to earth. Our little family is doing well. Liam continues to learn new words and his dexterity and speed are increasing daily. His latest enthusiasms are for heavy construction equipment and skateboards, which he refers to as "back hoe" and "board-o,"  respectively. It is so much fun to watch him exploring the world and discovering how things work. This is admittedly a painful process at times (his knees are perpetually scabby) but he is one of the happiest people I know. Amy and I feel really lucky that he is in our lives. Amy is now working full time at GlobalTox, still doing litigation support for cases involving toxicology. She works from home about 80% of the time, and Liam is looked after by our nanny Martha. Martha is Peruvian and is doing a great job teaching him Spanish, and Liam's Spanish vocabulary is about 15-20 words (in fact he only uses the word "sucio" when things are dirty and uses "mas" instead of more about half the time). Amy takes Liam to Kindermusik once a week and has formed a cooking co-op with some of her friends, which has saved a ton of time and introduced some interesting and unusual foods to our diet. I returned to CommEn Space and the non-profit world in January after a year at a private consulting firm. It became clear to me that I really need to work on projects I feel passionate about and the extra money just wasn't worth the frustration and compromises of the private sector. So I took a pretty big cut in pay but I feel great about what I'm doing with my life, and I have more time to spend with Amy and Liam! Right now I'm working on a conservation plan for the Columbia Land Trust, generating cartography for an international environmental indicators study of British Columbia and Washington (funded by EPA and Environment Canada), and assisting an environmental law firm in their suit against a developer who illegally filled in some wetlands and built houses over them. Now that’s what I call a good day at work! :) Thanks Lisa for the birthday wishes--and ditto to you--and thanks to Uncle James and Aunt Sally for remembering my birthday as well, it means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate it! :) Kind regards Matt, Amy & Mr. Little Guy - Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 15:28:03 (PST) Author: mattstevenson.geo@yahoo.com

Esther Breaks Wrist

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Esther Breaks Wrist! Hi family!  Just a brief note to tell you that my Mom  broke (or would that be shattered) her wrist yesterday.   She was quickly carrying a small table (what a woman!)  from one room to the next and one of the legs hit the door  frame/wall and stopped her cold in her tracks and the  force of this and the fall did one heck of a number on her  wrist.  Kathy said the bones look like corn flakes.  She  is on call today (Friday 4/8) to have surgery to have pins  put in place. Prayers for successful surgery and healing would be most  appreciated. Also, it is full fledged gardening season, in Maryland,  and today was to be her first planting day. This little  set back will put her out of commission for a while (I  believe the cast will go above her elbow). I suspect she  is going to get mighty bored, and as she is a circle  letter junkie, I thought it would be fun if she got  flooded with notes, cards and letters to read over these  next 6 weeks or so as she heals. You know those kind we  put in those little white things, what are they called?,  oh yea , envelopes with stamps on them.   I don't even know if she will be able to cross stitch -  eegadds!!     surgery # 2.....

Michael dear, It was so kind of you....Mr. Fix It...to be concerned  about my little table. You may be assured that my table is  fine....however, it did put a huge dent in the woodwork  around the door !! I am using the table as an auxiliary bedside/hospital  table during the duration of my recovery.  Kathy and Jenny  are shocked that I am still using the table, but it wasn't  the table's fault that I broke my wrist, and it really is  a very handy little table. However, my wrist is not doing quite as well. I went to  the doctor (orthopaedic surgeon)on Friday,  and he wasn't  thoroughly pleased with the healing; hence I  am having  another surgery on Wednesday (April 20th) by a hand  surgeon. He will put a plate in my hand that will enable  him to get the bones just where he wants them. HEALING IS ON THE WAY!!

Dear Esther: The day I heard about your unfortunate accident I  immediately responded to Tommy's letter thinking it was  your Tom's E-mail but I could not figure out how to send  it and I promptly lost it.  Some people say it's still in  there somewhere, but I cannot retrieve it.  In the  meantime a week has gone by and I have not written to you  expressing how bad I feel that you are going through such  pain and aggravation, not to mention the frustration of  not being able to do all the things you love to do.  One  thing I know for sure and that is that you will heal  quickly because in our big family there are many pray-ers  and our Lord listens to every one of their prayers.  He  has brought us through so many afflictions and trials. Healing's just another word for love and everyone's love  for you was sure evident at your party last month.  I'm  sure the "pick of the litter" and your Maryland kids are  taking very good care of you. In the meantime, just try to take it easy and enjoy the  beautiful weather that is finally here and before long you  will be back to your old self....busy as ever. Esther's 2nd Surgery today

Happy 30th to  the  last of the six!

Happy 30th to you Gary Hull... the last of the six born  from May 1974 thru May 1975... and now onto 31 for Danny  Alex!!! It is hard to believe that much time has gone by... Erin in  Las Vegas turned 30 on April 11th (sorry I forgot then :(  but I am remembering now!) And Andy turned 30 on February  9th out in ARIZONA ( or is it Washington?) Ami Jane last  August  and Cole this past December... I am still amazed  considering I can remember AS CLEAR AS A BELL brother  Tommy's 30th birthday!!!! Hope all of you are doing well~ John and I are trying to  buy our 1st HOME ( can you believe it?) I can't either that  is why I am not getting too excited yet...I'll believe it  when we sign on the dotted line ... so keep us in your  prayers!!! I'll keep you posted~ Sarah just finished her 1st year at COLLEGE FOR CREATIVE  STUDIES next to the DIA in Detroit... she is studying  INTERTIOR DESIGN and loving it !! Nick (Sarah's boyfriend) just graduated from Oakland University with Honors with a  degree in Economics... They have been dating 6 years June  10th! WOW!!! Cole and Amy are doing great and Conner is now 14 months  old and Cody will be 8 in October! The grandkids are such a  joy in our lives and watching all the new things Conner is  learning is a blast!! He is starting to say alot of words  and sometimes we KNOW he is singing and he plays Cole's  piano that we bought Cole for Christmas when HE was 2 years  old in 1976... he loves it and has the cutest way he plays  it ...he rocks back and forth just like Ray Charles!! Hi Everyone, Today is Saturday May 14, 2005 and we want to first wish  brother Dan a very happy birthday as well as a early  blessing to James and Tom on their birthdays this month. We  want to thank everyone for your support again in this  year's walk for Multiple Sclerosis. We haven't got our  total of how much we raised yet this year as we have still  been getting  money from people and the deadline is on June 1st. We had a  chilly but beautiful day and there were about 15 of us on  our team, "Kelly's Krew". I don't know where the circle e- letter is at or if it's still going but we thought we'd  drop a  line to each of you. James and Suzanne hope you are well  and we hope Suzannes visit to Paris was great!! Tom we hope  your job is going well and Esther, we pray your wrist is  healing good. We promised we won't sticth a  thing here until you're fully healed!! Bill and Sharon we  are so looking forward to our visit to Las Vegas the week  of July 9th!! Nan and Brian, are you in the country? Hope  to make it to Caseville this year hopefully in the first  week of August with Jeff and Shelley and Ben and Erin.  Bob and Diane, can't wait to see you and your  beautiful home in Chandler in July. Bring on the pool!!!!! MIMI

To our beloved family. It is with sadness that I have to tell everyone that Mimi  passed away on June 10, 2005 at 7:05 PM. She was in a lot of pain and she is now in a much better  place. Diane had a hard time with this and I hope she will find  peace knowing that her mom is no longer in pain and with  her creator, Mimi wished to be creamated and her body went with the  Neptune Society. Saying Goodbye

Aunt Diane, I'm so sad to hear of Mimi's death.  The only  thing that keeps running through my mind though is when I  first moved to San Diego in the fall of 1984 and all the  fun we had in the year I spent there.  One memory I have  of Mimi is when we were all dancing around in the family  room. I have a great picutre of Mimi dancing away holding  her skirt to the side as she twirlled! Oh what fun we had. I can still her your laugh, Aunt Diane, as vividly as on  that day. You gave her great joy and a great life! I'll get a copy of that picture and send it to you. It's a  classic.   She'll be missed. Wow what a smile she had.  I'm glad I  had the chance to be a part of her life. Brian's Sister, Eileen Hussey, O.P.

Dear Family, Yesterday, June 17th, Brian's sister suffered a heart  attack and passed away.  She recently had an operation on  her leg for an ulcer and it was very successful and she  was so happy to be out of pain.  Even though she had some  health problems, she always seemed to overcome them and  worked right up to just a few months ago.  She turned 80  in March and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Eileen was a Dominican nun for over 60 years and had a  beautiful life serving and loving the Mexican people in  the Southwest for many years.   She will be buried in Michigan and as soon as I know about  the funeral arrangements, I will let you know.  It's a sad  time for Diane and Bob and now Brian and his family as  well.  Both these women were well loved and were blessed  with a long life on this earth and now, as Bob said, they  are with their creator in their eternal home. Food for thought 

As we look forward to Game 7 of the NBA finals, at the end  of this email is a great homily to ponder! This was from  last week's homily at our church. I did not edit it before  pasteing it, so as you read it you can  subsitute "Christian" for "Catholic". It applies equally  no matter what church we are in.  Fr. John, our priest, is a great sports fan and a great  athlete at his 6'4" stature, and loves basketball. In case you're interested, here's the gospel reading and  the citations for the other scripture readings to which he  was responding: First Reading: Jeremiah 20:10-13 Psalm: Psalm 69:8-10, 14, 17, 33-35 Second Reading: Romans 5:12-15 Gospel: Matthew 10:26-33 ----------------------------------------------------------- Are You Unashamedly Catholic? In just a matter of hours, some 20,000 people are going to  gather together, making all sorts of noise, cheering,  yelling, high-fiving and dancing.  Some are going to come  with giant fake afros on their heads.  Others are going to  come with their faces painted blue and red.  Some will be  decked out in fine clothes; others will be wearing read  and blue paraphernalia of some sort. The place they're going to gather, of course, is the  Palace.  The occasion: Game 5 of the NBA Finals between  the Pistons and Spurs.  And while there will be a  smattering of fans present from the state of Texas, most  everyone there will have this in common:  they will  unashamedly and unreservedly reveal themselves to the  people sitting next to them and to a world-wide television  audience as Pistons fans. It will be, I hope, a fun night.  Fr. Jim and I stayed up  for every last delicious second Thursday night for Game 4,  and I'll be tuning in and watching with some friends of  mine this evening.  And as one who greatly enjoys  basketball, I might even get a little ... emotional at  particular moments. But it is a game.  A game.  Never mind that grown men (and  women) make a living playing it and make obscene and  unjust amounts of money. It is still a game. Somehow, the words of the Gospel today seem to take on  even more punch when I consider the vastly different  mentalities so many people, and especially men, take  towards sports as opposed to faith.  Why is it that the  same people who will be unashamedly and unreservedly and  unabashedly (and often embarrassingly) vocal about a game  can be so incredibly timid and fearful about faith?  One  means nothing.  The other means everything. Ah, many will quickly point out, because faith is a very  private matter. Says who?  Where did we ever get that  idea?  Certainly not from Jesus! Certainly not from the  Gospel!  Jesus says quite clearly, "Whoever acknowledges  Me before others I will acknowledge before My heavenly  Father. And whoever denies Me before others, I will deny  before My heavenly Father." That certainly doesn't leave  any room for thinking faith is private!  Jesus says in the  Gospel to us, here and now, "What I say to you in the  darkness speak in the light."  In other words, "Hand on  what I'm telling you.  Let others know about all I've  done, and who I am, and the liberating and life-giving  message of the Gospel." How is it people can spend hour after hour listening to  sports-talk radio (certainly one of the most inane  inventions in all of history) discussing a game and not  think to spend a minute talking about the greatest Athlete  of all time, the One who battled sin and death and the  forces of hell and routed them? When we see something amazing, or meet someone incredible,  we tell others, "Hey, so and so's in town at the Palace,  let's go see him play."  Or "Let's go check out my friend  who's hysterically funny at the comedy club."  Or "Come on  over for dinner sometime; I'd like you to meet my wife and  children."  Even as we do these things publicly, so we are  to do with our faith, because faith is about a  relationship, a living, on-going, real-life relationship  with the God who made us and redeemed us by His death and  resurrection.  If we know Him, really know Him, and what  He's done for us, how can we ever stay silent?  Who cares,  ultimately, if a 6 foot 10 inch man can dunk a  basketball?  I would hope so!  Can he raise the dead?   Does he hold the keys to eternal life? Now, this doesn't mean we go out and beat people over the  head with a Bible, but it does mean we are to be  unashamedly Catholic, much more so than the 20,000 people  tonight who will be unashamedly Piston fans.  Are we?  Are  you?  Are you unashamedly Catholic?  I think, in essence,  that is the question to reflect on today.  Jesus reminds  us it is to be our identity. So, how do we do it? Well, since this is Father's Day, allow me to turn my  attention to the men and to fathers in particular and  suggest six things we can do to be unashamedly Catholic:   1) Come to Mass every week and be active in it. Sing!   Pray out loud the parts!  How is it we're so active and  vocal at the Palace or East Lansing or Ann Arbor but not  here?   2) Respect women - at home and at work.  Perhaps  nothing more singles out a man as a follower of Jesus than  by what he does and doesn't say about women, especially  around other men.   3) Honor God's Name.  Why is it most men can only say the  name, "Jesus' when they get angry?    He poured out His  blood for us.  Honor His Name!   4) Pray and let your kids see you do it - at meals,  before you go to bed, when someone in the family is in  need. Teach your children that real men have faith!   5) Strive to live a life of integrity and greatness and  holiness.  That is the call to each and every one of us.   We are all called to be saints, no exceptions.  And  finally,  6) don't be shy in talking about the faith:  to your kids,  at work, wherever.  If we really know Jesus and what He's  done for us, and what He offers us, how can we be silent?   God was not ashamed to become one of us and allow Himself  to be slaughtered on a cross for us so that we could live  forever.  Let us never be ashamed of letting ourselves be  known as His followers and as Catholics. 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A Hope this is as inspiring for some of you as it was for us! It's not always easy to do, and does come at times with a  price, but Christ warned us of this. Press on the price will be worth it. Tommy~ AWESOME! Remember when you were in first grade at Precious Blood and  the teacher in RELIGION CLASS would pass out coloring book   pages of the roads to HEAVEN and HELL??  Remember how  the road to HEAVEN had big gaping holes ALL THE WAY DOWN  with rocks and weeds along the sides~ a VERY VERY NARROW  road with a SUN shining at the end... BUT the road to HELL  was really WIDE and SLICK and SMOOTH with a big shiny  castle with flags waving at the end ???? Well~ I thought "What person in their RIGHT mind would EVER want  to go down the road with the holes and rocks??? That SLICK  SHINY road looked SOOOO inviting!!!" Yet, as young as I was  I remember my Mom (Gramma Eunice) teaching me about WHO was  waiting at the end of the road to HEAVEN  ... THE SON! I wish we ALL could GET IT~ that ETERNITY with Jesus Christ  is FOREVER but " THE GAME" (AT BEST) is best out of seven... (hmmmm) A MERE few weeks compared to eternity~ But even better... it's FREE~ just accept it like a gift...  While we are still sinners HE takes us as we are and  forgives (and forgets)our past and HE changes us from the  INSIDE out! WONDERFUL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Monday, June 27, 2005 Dear Family: I just finished reading your letter, Tommy, which  contained the Father's Day message at your Church and it  really got me stirred so I thought I'd add a few  thoughts.   Your pastor asks why don't we talk more and get excited  about the most important things in life like God, eternity  and salvation when we gather together like we do the  Pistons, the latest fashions, the news etc.  It's almost  like we avoid Kingdom discussion because it's politically  incorrect or it's something that we just don't do.   It brought to my mind the last few messages I heard at my  church which centered around scriptures such as  1Cor2:14, "But the natural man does not receive the things  of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor  can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." The natural man who has not been regenerated or born again  and is devoid of the Spirit, has no appreciation for the  truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Those who have been  enlightened have a nature that responds to the truth.  And  even with this new nature, it is only the spirit part of  us that can receive revelation knowledge from the Holy  Spirit.  Our natural man is always at "war" with our  spirit man and distracts us continually, trying to keep us  from the things of God.   I believe that this is what keeps us silent... when in  reality, spiritual truth is the most awesome, gratifying  and satisfying topic of conversation there could ever be!   We should not be ashamed to spread the excitement of the  Gospel any chance we get; there is nothing to lose and  souls to gain.  We do look foolish to those who are  perishing, but to those who believe we are a sweet  fragrance.  Remember how we avoided Douglas?  Not  anymore.  Recently I was in a stadium with over 20,000  crazy Christians yelling and shouting and having the best  time just as if it were the 7th game of the NBA  championship.  There's a time and place for everything and  I really believe that the time has come for our family to  follow in the footsteps of Mom and Dad who were not  ashamed of the gospel and lived accordingly in word and  deed. It's the cross of Jesus that unites us....no blood, no  remission of sin.  There's no getting around it.  Acceptance of this fact with overwhelming gratitude is  what saves our lives for all eternity. Your spirit man is  the real you and through faith in the name of Jesus you  receive the right of sonship.  What a privilege to be born  of God.  After 30 years I still can "scarcely take it in"  it's so powerful, so supernatural!  Tommy, I'm glad you had the "courage" to print your  pastor's message.  It was an inspiration to me. Dan's Surgery

Hi Family.... Just wanted all of you to know that brother/uncle Dan had  his hip replacement today and all went well. He was in  surgery a little longer than expected, but that was  because his bones were quite thick and the doctors had to  drill holes in them for the new hip. He also had quite a  bit of arthritis that had to be scraped out. He is  recovering tonight and Nancy said that they will get him  out of bed tomorrow to start his physical therapy. They  wanted all to know that he will be home on Sunday in case  anyone should want to call him. He will be at home for  about six weeks and I am sure that he will be glad to hear  from anybody.  Love to you all...Janie - Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 16:30:28 (PDT) Author: jnjnichols32@aol.com

HIP HIP Hooray--Dad's New Joint is A-OK!

Hey Everyone! I talked to my dad a couple of times while he was in the hospital and he was in great spirits. The day after the surgery the physical therapists were letting him walk down the hall (with the assistance of a walker), and he was able to move around his room a little bit too. He's home now and the P.T.s will stop by to visit him there, and apparently he should be 100% ambulatory in no time! No doubt he'll be providing his own updates once he gets a little screen time. Hope everyone is doing well. Newest Great Grand Child

Hi to all of the family. As some of you know Kelly & Don were expecting a baby in  September of this year. They were married on August 23,  2003 and today, August 23, 2005 they had the birth of their  son Payton Robert Carey. Payton weighed in at 7 lbs. 9 oz's and was 21 inches long. He is doing pretty well and has a slight problem clearing  his lungs. We hope that this is cleared up by this evening. To say the least both Kelly and Don are very excited about  this boy since between them they already have 3 girls. Kelly and Payton should be home on August 24th, which is our 42nd. anniversary. It will not be hard to remember Payton's  birthday. Madison is thrilled to have a baby brother. She has a baby  sister, which Rodney and Megahn had. Well I am not sure how long Payton will remain the youngest  and I know that Dan & Jill are expecting as well. Congrats. There are still a lot of younger siblings whom I am sure  will be sending letters out like this some day. If you get a chance please send Kelly and Don a note. I  know they will appreciate it. BRAC Victory

"I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I  will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy  temple, and praise Your name." - Psalm 138:1,2 NKJV      The Groton Submarine Base is officially off the base- closure list! Yee Ha! The funny thing was, I was riding my  bike back home from the local java joint, and I saw a news  van from my favorite news channel NBC 30 (plug!)out of  Hartford. It was parked outside the Hampton Inn hotel that  is approx. 5 mins from my house. Complete with a  reporterette on the beat doing a story. Then I looked and   noticed,other news vans from another channel, the  newspaper,and a local radio station. By this time, I am  wondering who was murdered at this particular hotel.  (Sounds morbid, I'm sorry)      The good news is I did not see an ambulance at said  hotel.(but two police officers were stationed nearby) I  rode home and turned the TV on to channel 30 and I watched  the reporterette interviewing not only our Governor, Jodi  Rell, but also our congressman Christopher Dodd and  Senator Joe Lieberman. So I hopped back on my bike to  check this out. I caught the tail end of the interview  (they were getting reaction from them about the base being  removed from the base closure list). How cool is that?  That made my day.  P.S. Congrats on your baby Kelly and Don!                                 Love,                                  Lisa - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 13:40:02 (PDT) Author: MrsKight007@sbcglobal.net

On The Mend

Hiya Family! Hiya,       Hiya,             Hiya! I just wanted to give you all (or all y'all for our  southern relatives) a quick update. First of all though, I want to thank everybody for your  cards, gifts and phone calls. I really appreciated all of  them while I was under "house arrest" these last several  weeks. My hip replacement surgery was seven weeks ago tomorrow and  I went to the doctor for my six week check up yesterday(go  figure). The doc said the implant has positioned itself perfectly  and that I was free to resume all my normal activities (I  didn't get into the abnormal stuff with him).  He said I can even start to play golf again! OH YEA! (about  two months earlier than I thought he would let me). The most remarkable thing is that after being in  progressively more pain over the past several years, the  day after the surgery, it was all gone. Even with the  surgical pain I could tell the difference. For the first  time in about six years I'm not slugging down pain pills  all day. I haven't even had to take an aspirin for the past  three weeks. How about that! Michigan comes to Maryland !!!

Hello family, To those of you who are coming to Salisbury for our Relay  for Life..... We thought some of you might like to go to the Red Roost  for crabs while you are here. The only times that we can go are Sunday, Sept. 25th and  Thursday Sept 22nd. The problem with Sunday is that our Mary can't be there  because she will be on her way  back home, and she  reeeeeaaaally loves going to the Roost ! And by Sunday,  I'm sure Jenny will probably be totally exhausted. Soooooo, how about the Roost on Thursday ? We hear that  several of you will be in town by then, Sorry Terry and  Tom ! (Terry is playing a Pulte party that night, but  Chris is available !)  If you are interested let me know and we'll see if this  will work. Prayers Please !!!

Dear Family,  As some of you may know, Tony's brother Jimmy (57) has  lung cancer.  Sad to say, it's growing faster than expected. In need of a crib

Sophie is 16!

Sophie is sixteen today!  I can hardly believe it.  Time  went by like a blink.  She is not even home this week  though, she is on a Kairos Retreat, for the senior class,  with her school. She is there this week as one of 8  juniors who were chosen to become leaders for their class  retreat next year. I'm sure she'll appreciate your prayers  for a successful retreat for her and her classmates.  She  is now in her junior year at Fr. Gabriel Richard High  School, in Ann Arbor.  She is in honors classes and AP  classes - she really works hard.  We are very proud of her  academic and spiritual accomplishments. She just finished  her third year on the tennis team and will hopefully be on  the volleyball team again and possibly play Lacrosse this  srping.  She is also very active with her school and youth  groups. For spring break this year she is going on a  mission trip to Mexico, to work with the poorest of the  poor, who live IN a garbage dump, near Mexico City.  The  trip is through the spanish department of her school, in  conjunction with Renewal Ministries. She is going with a  medical mission team and will work with the kids and act  as an intepreter with the doctors and nurses.  She'll send  out more later on that. The Blessing of Family

Speaking of blessings...

Yes ... This family has been very blessed indeed... with a  network of caring , concerned members who come to the aid  of their loved ones at the drop of a hat!  Whether it be a  serious need for prayers... or a kind word of  encouragement... when I think about HOW MANY people don't  have that~ who haven't spoken to their family in years... I  can't help but praise God for a family like ours...Could  Mom and Dad EVER have imagined the impact their love would  have on all of us down through the third and fourth  generation and WAY beyond??? For those of you who never got  to know them ... I wish IF ONLY for a DAY you could be so  blessed to have known and felt their love and generosity~      It was like a little glimpse of heaven... With that said ~I want to thank all of you for your care  and concern regarding my request for Cole and the need for  a crib for Conner.  Amy Jane came through with a bed and  (Aunt) Janie had a mattress so Halleluia~Conner is sleeping  comfortably again!!!  This week Sarah Jane is at a MAGNIFICENT 4 day conference  in Chicago  fully paid for by our church and she has called  me with nightly updates... She feels like she has "come  home" again and is so very happy to be back in the company  of the friends who love her and only want the very best for  her! It is at Willow Creek Church (which you should go  online and check that place out!!!) It is just amazing...  this week there are 4,000 people representing 850 churches  from 14 countries and all 50 of our states all learning the  Truths of Jesus Christ and how to help others find and  follow Him~ our ONE TRUE HOPE for eternal salvation.   It is simply exilerating to hear her voice so EXCITED at  all she is learning and experiencing there!!!  I praise God everyday that we found our church  (Orchard Grove) and it is my deepest prayer that EVERYONE  in this family will find a place where Jesus Christ is  ALIVE and WELL!!! And receive Him into their hearts and  souls and that their eyes would be open to the ONE ULTIMATE  TRUTH... Jesus said SEEK the TRUTH and the TRUTH WILL SET  YOU FREE!!! Our Pastor says it all the time to SEEK...  never stop seeking the truth and don't be afraid of  seeking  because God is big enough for our questions and  concerns and will lead us to the TRUTH of JESUS  CHRIST!!! I have literally prayed for TEN years for my  family to come back and I know that my prayers are being  answered... Mom (grandma Stevenson) prayed until the day  she died for her children to come back to the Lord and it's  incredible to watch as one by one it's happening!!!  And so the prayers still keep coming... I challenge you  "Seekers" out there...Jesus Christ said " I AM THE WAY AND  THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE AND ONLY THROUGH ME CAN YOU GET TO  THE FATHER"... that's powerful stuff! And following Him has  been the greatest thing EVER! Can you feel my ZEAL??? I  don't care if you think I'm off the deep end... I am still  the same "ME" but every now and again I just can't contain  all that has kept me going since Novemeber 15th 1976...the  day I chose to surrender my life to Jesus Christ!!! Through  EVERY hardship we have EVER faced ( and I think we have  faced our fair share!) The Lord has carried us through!!!  And I will never stop praising Him EVER!!! I hope He IS  this "real" in your heart~ if not right now ~ then  VERY SOON!!!  "Life gets MIGHTY precious when there's less of it to  waste!"  A great lyric to a great song NICK OF TIME! Jenny

Hello family, I am writing this letter without Jenny's permission; she  may have wanted to keep this private. But I know that you  care about her and would want to know. So please forgive  me, Jenny ! On November 9th Jenny will be having a hysterectomy. She  has been having issues with fibroid cysts and they are at  a point where they must be stopped from growing; hence a  hysterectomy is necessary. You all know that Jenny would have loved to have had many,  many children. This surgery will, of course, end that hope. She is being very strong and realistic about this, and she  is soooo grateful that she has her sweet baby Marshall. In  fact, her doctor said that after seeing what is going on  inside her, the fact that she was able to have Marshall is  even more of a miracle. Her spirits are good, she is at peace with this, she is  handling it very well (better that me !) and she is now  looking forward to feeling physically better after the  surgery. Jenny's Surgery

Hello family, Jenny had her hysterectomy on Wednesday and thank God,  everything went without any complications. We are soooo  happy about that ! Her doctor said that the fibroid tumor that he removed was  the largest he had seen in years; it was the size of a  cantaloupe ! Can you imagine that in her little body ???  So henceforth, we will refer to her surgery as Jenny's  Melonectomy ! He also said that if it had been left to  grow for much longer, it could have caused her serious  kidney damage...and you know that this family doesn't need  any more kidney problems !  She also lost quite a bit of  blood, so that will leep her a little weak for a while. She is at home now and doing well. Marshall is very gentle  with her and is lovingly concerned about Mommy's belly-boo- boo.  Chris is trying to keep the dogs at a safe distance  from her. She still gets easily tired; taking a shower is  a major event for her...it wears her out..so she takes it  at night just before bedtime. People are bringing in meals which are most appreciated.  The doctor said that she is not to be left alone for 3  weeks, so we will take shifts playing nurse, and after a  while I imagine that our roles may switch to that of  policemen, trying to keep her down as she starts to feel a  little stronger ! Hi Ho Cantalo

Well now we really have a problem. In my family there are  people who just the don't like Cantalope. What the hell do  we do with them? I know we'll shoot them. But then I half to go to jail and that really sucks.   But on the other hand those who really hate cantalope are  going to take the stand that it is no longer that hard to  say NO to cantalope since Jenny was so close to holding a  record for growing the larget cantalope in family history. I for one now believe that we should all eat cantalope  since Jenny will be doing just fine in a very short period. We, too, are so very glad to find out that Jenny's surgery  went very well and she is home. I really believe that this is one family who has had enough  of surgeries. Melon people melon

Hello Family- I was present at the time of surgery and I cannot bite my  tongue any longer. ( I am starting to bleed)  Here is  the "story behind the story....." The Doctor came out and told us that the fybroid was  larger than he originally thought.  It was the size of.... hold on I am going for drama here............. a "Melon" ... he did not specify what type. After he left,  while discussing it amongst ourselves, somewhere  cantaloupe came into the description. I happen to love cantaloupe and was truly sickened at the  site of the cantaloupe slices that appeared on Jenny's  breakfast tray the next morning. I asked the doctor during rounds if it actually was  the size of a cantaloupe and he pondered the question and  then replied "that it would really depend on the size of  the melon and that cantaloupes come in many different  sizes". very non-commital, imagine that!! I do not like honeydew, so I personally have decided that  the "melon" in question definitly was a honeydew. Uncle Bob, do not shoot the cantaloupes, only the  honeydews!  I will bail you out if need be. Mike,  great question and keep up the good work. Offspring v 2.0

Hi All! Happy Solstice/Christmas/Diwali/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/Loi Krathong etc. I hope you are all well and enjoying the winter. Amy and I have some wonderful news to share--we have another child on the way, and we found out yesterday that it is a BOY! (I have not yet done the math, but there appears to be a statistically significant tenedncy for Stevenson males to produce male offspring). The ultrasound showed a healthy, active fetus that appears to be developing normally. He is due on--drumroll please--May 15th!! Pretty cool, eh? Amy is doing well and having an easier time of it (so far) the second time around. Liam is psyched to be a big brother and wants us to name the baby "Liam." When we told him that name was already taken, he said "OK--Jacob!" Not sure if we'll go with that one, but we're still considering our options. :) Have a great holiday! A FAMILY REUNION ON CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Joys

How wonderful to read two BEAUTIFUL letters ... THAT is the  true Spirit of Christmas! I too, wish that we could ALL be together for a Christmas  Eve family reunion~  In one big house where we could all wake up to Christmas  presents that were left by Santa and the house would be all  aglow from the Christmas tree lights... Gee that's sort of  how I remember Hartwell Christmas's... and you older ones  probably remember one of the other houses... but it's the  same images in our minds... What a wonderful thing to have  our memories! A CHRISTMAS STORY

A CHRISTMAS STORY      The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas, just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, Old George as he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the heater and warm up. "Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you're busy, I'll just go." "Not without something hot in your belly." George said. He turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger. "It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty, "Stew ... made it myself. When you're done, there's coffee and it's fresh." Just at that moment he heard the "ding" of the driveway bell. "Excuse me, be right back," George said. There in the driveway was an old '53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the front. The driver was panicked. "Mister can you help me!" said the driver, with a deep Spanish accent. "My wife is with child and my car is broken." George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold, the car was dead. "You ain't going in this thing," George said as he turned away. "But Mister, please help ..." The door of the office closed behind George as he went inside. He went to the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He walked around the building, opened the garage, started the truck and drove it around to where the couple was waiting. "Here, take my truck," he said. "She ain't the best thing you ever looked at, but she runs real good." George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the night. He turned and walked back inside the office. "Glad I gave 'em the truck, their tires were shot too. That 'ol truck has brand new ......" George thought he was talking to the stranger, but the man had gone. The Thermos was on the desk, empty, with a used coffee cup beside it. "Well, at least he got something in his belly," George thought. George went back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no customers. He discovered the the block hadn't cracked, it was just the bottom hose on the radiator. "Well, shoot, I can fix this," he said to himself. So he put a new one on. "Those tires ain't gonna get 'em through the winter either." He took the snow treads off of his wife's old Lincoln. They were like new and he wasn't going to drive the car anyway. As he was working, he heard shots being fired. He ran outside and beside a police car an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left shoulder, the officer moaned, "Please help me." George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had received in the Army as a medic. He knew the wound needed attention. "Pressure to stop the bleeding," he thought. The uniform company had been there that morning and had left clean shop towels. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound. "Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin'," he said, trying to make the policeman feel at ease. "Something for pain," George thought. All he had was the pills he used for his back. "These ought to work." He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the pills. "You hang in there, I'm going to get you an ambulance." The phone was dead. "Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box out in your car." He went out only to find that a bullet had gone into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the policeman sitting up. "Thanks," said the officer. "You could have left me there. The guy that shot me is still in the area." George sat down beside him, "I would never leave an injured man in the Army and I ain't gonna leave you." George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding. "Looks worse than what it is. Bullet passed right through 'ya. Good thing it missed the important stuff though. I think with time your gonna be right as rain." George got up and poured a cup of coffee. "How do you take it?" he asked. "None for me," said the officer. "Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city. Too bad I ain't got no donuts." The officer laughed and winced at the same time. The front door of the office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun. "Give me all your cash! Do it now!" the young man yelled. His hand was shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this before. "That's the guy that shot me!" exclaimed the officer. "Son, why are you doing this?" asked George, "You need to put the cannon away. Somebody else might get hurt." The young man was confused. "Shut up old man, or I'll shoot you, too. Now give me the cash!" The cop was reaching for his gun. "Put that thing away," George said to the cop, "we got one too many in here now." He turned his attention to the young man. "Son, it's Christmas Eve. If you need money, well then, here. It ain't much but it's all I got. Now put that pee shooter away." George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man, reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time. The young man released his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry. "I'm not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my wife and son," he went on. "I've lost my job, my rent is due, my car got repossessed last week ." George handed the gun to the cop. Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now and then. The road gets hard sometimes, but we make it through the best we can." He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair across from the cop. "Sometimes we do stupid things." George handed the young man a  cup of coffee. "Bein' stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin' in here with a gun ain't the answer. Now sit there and get warm and we'll sort this thing out." The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the cop. "Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I'm sorry officer." "Shut up and drink your coffee." the cop said. George could hear the sounds of sirens outside. A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the door, guns drawn. "Chuck! You ok?" one of the cops asked the wounded officer. "Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?" "GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did this?" the other cop asked as he approached the young man. Chuck answered him, "I don't know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just dropped his gun and ran." George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other. "That guy work here?," the wounded cop continued. "Yep," George said, "just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job." The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young  man leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, "Why?" Chuck just said, "Merry Christmas boy ... and you too, George, and thanks for everything." "Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve some of your problems." George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring box. "Here you go, something for the little woman. I don't think Martha would mind. She said it would come in handy some day." The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw. "I can't take this," said the young man. "It means something to you." "And now it means something to you," replied George. "I got my memories. That's all I need." George reached into the box again. An airplane, a car and a truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for him to sell. "Here's something for that little man of yours." The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man had handed him earlier. "And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that too," George said, "Now git home to your family." The young man turned with tears streaming down his face. "I'll be here in the morning for work, if that job offer is still good." "Nope. I'm closed Christmas day," George said. "See ya the day after." George turned around to find that the stranger had returned. "Where'd you come from? I thought you left?" "I have been here. I have always been here," said the stranger. "You say you don't celebrate Christmas. Why?" "Well, after my wife passed away, I just couldn't see what all the bother was. Puttin' up a tree and all seemed a waste of a good pine tree. Bakin' cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn't the same by myself and besides I was gettin' a little chubby." The stranger put his hand on George's shoulder. "But you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son and he will become a great doctor. The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will make you a rich man and not take any for himself. "That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man." George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. "And how do you know all this?" asked the old man. "Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And when your days are done you will be with Martha again." The stranger moved toward the door. "If you will excuse me, George, I have to go now. I have to go home where there is a big celebration planned." George watched as the old leather jacket and the torn pants that the stranger was wearing turned into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room. "You see, George ... it's My birthday. Merry Christmas." Happy New Year's from Stockholm!!!

Wow!!            It's so great to see the circle letter continue to be so active!!  Did you know that it's been approximately 7 and 1/2 years now that the  Circle Letter on the Web has been active??? Seems just like yesterday that this  'little' thing got started.  This letter is to send wishes for good health, peace and properity to everyone  in our family as well as the rest of the world! If any of you are wondering how I find myself up this way then you should  know that I've come here at the invitation of one of my best friends Rick  Carlson who I've known since 1991 when I first moved out of my parent's  home and became a roommate with him. Prayers of Support

Hello family; Today, Jeanne's sisters Husband, Ian Krul,  died  suddenly in his sleep.  He was 34 years old and is  survived by Sherry his wife, Joey his one year old son  and a baby girl to be born this coming April. Please add  Sherry and our family to your prayers for strength to  make it though this difficult time and support her and  the kids. Your prayers truly helped Ian and Sherry cope with the  death of his mother at this time last year. I know Sherry  needs them again now more than ever.  Thank you and God Bless! Lilly Harper Stevenson is here !

Hello family, Danny & Jill's baby arrived yesterday. LILLY HARPER STEVENSON arrived at 1:04 p.m.  on January. 29, 2006. She weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. and was 21 & 3/4 inches long. Yikes.... and Jill is such a tiny little girl  to have  such a big baby! All is well with their little family. Grace thinks Lilly is okay but  after a few minutes she  was really  more interested in the lollipop that Aunt  Kathy had for her in the waiting room ! Don't you just love her name, Lilly ?  (Her proper name is really Lillian, but they plan on  calling her Lilly and I love how it just tickles my tongue  to say it.) It never matters to me whether a baby is a boy or a girl,  just as long as they are healthy. But I  sooo loved the  name Lily, and am so happy that we have one of them ! TEAM  KENT

Hello Family, To those of you who came to our local Wicomico County,  Maryland Relay For Life last September, we are sad to tell  you that Kent McCullough has lost his battle with Cancer.  Kent died last Thursday. He had melanoma. He was only 36  years old, and he leaves a sweet wife, a 2 year old son,  and a 3 month old baby daughter. Those of you who were here you all remember Team Kent  taking their last lap around the track as Terry was  singing.. It was so powerful, wasn't it ? Not a dry eye  for any one of us ! And we all remember the wonderful  support Kent got from his family and friends. Kent was an events planner, and he was planning on helping  Jenny with her next major event: a Denim and Diamonds Ball  to be held this summer. Jenny is so sad, she almost takes it personally. But, you  know Jenny, instead of giving up, this is making her fight  even harder for the cause of finding the cure for Cancer  by raising funds for the American Cancer Society. Jenny  and Tom are the chairpeople for our local Relay. We are almost at the end of our 3rd annual Romance for  Relay event where we make baked goods and deliver them   for Valentines Day. The first year we raised $3,500.00.  Last year....$7,000.00 and this year with two days to go  we are at over $9,000.00. Please say a prayer for his family, and in honor of  Kent...check your body for moles or blemishes and get  checked out by a dermatologist.  Kent had NO IDEA that he  had melanoma, and by the time it was found, it was  probably too late for him. PRAYERS NEEDED FOR BEN

Dear Family... Ben Stevenson was injured in a snowboarding accident over  the week-end and our prayers are needed. Hello Stevenson Family Everywhere: Just thought I'd drop a line to say all is well in  Clarkston, Michigan especially with spring just around the  corner. Gerry, Kelly, Sally and I went to Beth's Detroit Concert  Choir performance last Sunday and it was awesome.  We so  enjoyed it, particularly Beth's beautiful solo.  (It still  amazes me how a soprano got into our family.)  The  director was awesome; he reminds us of Dad.  The music was  all sung in another language.  I thought it was Latin but  I'm not sure.  Anyway, Beth looked beautiful and the whole  event was tremendous.  She so enjoys being a part of this  choir; you can see it all over her face.  They'll be going  to Ireland this year.  Now that's a country that Brian and  I loved. Speaking of countries, Jimmy and I went to Australia on  March 2nd to attend a Hillsongs praise and worship live  recording.  What a phenomenal group they are.  There were  25,000 exhuberant people in attendance and we were in the  second row just having the time of our lives!  The CD and  DVD will be out in August.  The rest of the week we toured  Sydney and Cairns where the Great Barrier Reef is  located.  What beauty we saw all week long.  We went with  four other people from Jim's Church.  I praise God the  ocean was calm when we were there.  Brian didn't want to  fly that far so he stayed home.  No matter where we roam  there's nothing that compares to the USA, I have to say.   We are a blessed country, that's for sure. We should be planning a Stevenson family reunion.  I'm not  sure if the LaDuc, LeDuke, LaDuke reunion will take place  this year.  The cousin party was fun last year.  We wanted  to do this every year because we're not getting any  younger; but so far we haven't heard of one planned. Sophie, I'm proud of you for spending your spring break  helping those less fortunate; you are storing up treasure  for yourself in heaven by your unselfishness. I think of all of you so often; there are so many of us  now.  This family keeps on growing and thriving and we're  all blessed beyond measure....even though we have our  trials along with our joys.  I miss you out-of-towners.  I  hope to see you all this year sometime.  Brian and I are  going to Branson at the end of this month.  We're going to  see Bobby Anderson and other shows.  It's one of the  Bluegreen resorts that's in the club we joined several  years ago.  I'm just a traveling woman, I guess. Dear Family: Brian's brother, Kevin, passed away last Sunday, April 2nd  at home in Florida.  He was 63 years old and had been  battling lung cancer for about six months.  We had a good  visit with him in November and we sensed a peace about him  and a different spirit.  We prayed over him and he readily  received our prayers with tears.  Kevin had two daughters  and one son and five grandchildren.  His children were  with him when he passed away. His desire was to be cremated with a memorial  service....one will be held in Florida and one to be held  up here during the Hussey golf tournament weekend.  Brian  has lost four siblings....two sisters and two brothers.   It's very sad to think about losing anyone in our family.   We are so very blessed that all of us are still together. When we were in Branson last week, we had dinner with  Bobby and Karen and we were talking about our families all  still living and all the cousins (except for Richard  Nehls) and he said "you know why this is true?"  He  said "it's because of PRAYER."  We had a great time with  them and their son, Matt, who is such a nice kid.  He's  Bobby's light and microphone man.  By the way, Bobby sings  better than ever.  Matt goes to Missouri State  University.  LET'S ALL THINK ABOUT A SIBLING FAMILY  REUNION IN BRANSON NEXT MAY!  It's a fun, fun town with so  much to offer. Once again there is sad news in the family .. Brian~  I can't imagine the sadness you must be feeling...but it  is wonderful that you were able to have a nice visit with  him not too long ago...  It is something we try not to think about in our own  family~ yet the fact remains that we ALL are getting up  there in years (Can you imagine~ Mom's BABY is  a little  more than TWO years away from 50!!!) so it is important  that we don't take ANY time for granted...  That is why I feel so blessed that we as a family have  stayed SO CLOSE throughout the years and I agree with Bobby  Anderson...PRAYER!!!  Mom and Dad's prayers and the family's collective prayers  for the various events throughout the years... THE FAMILY  THAT  PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER has really been a truism for  our family... Happy  Holy Season

NATHAN HULL HAS ARRIVED

request for prayers

Hello everyone~ I just want to let anyone who doesn't already know that  John's Mom had a stroke on Tuesday and another on Wednesday  that the doctors say is large and ongoing...I never heard  that a stroke can be ongoing... but nonetheless... she  doesn't have much movement on her right side... she can  kind of squeeze her left hand and she acts like she  recognizes us but can BARELY make audible sounds like she's  trying to tell us something... We spoke with her doctor last night and he told us that her  swallowing mechanism is very poor... they will know within  24-48 hours if she will need a feeding tube... if that ends  up being the case... she has requested that she doesn't  want that... so she will go to hospice and they will keep  her as comfortable as possible~  This has been a very rough two days to say the least!!! Please keep John and his sister and sister-in-law and our  families in your prayers as we work through some major  decisions over the next few days... I love you all and I will keep you posted... John's Mom

Dear Family... Please keep John & Mary in your prayers this day. Mrs.  Garlak passed away this morning. Mary told me that the  hospital officials were puzzled as to why she was lasting  as long as she had. They asked John if there was anyone she  needed to see. They racked their brains and Mary thought of  her cat (Eddie) that she has had forever. The hospital gave  them special permission to bring the cat up and when they  walked into the room with him, she smiled and the cat laid  down right next to her and never moved for as long as they  were there. They said their goodbyes to her and they got a phone call this morning. Isn't that the sweetest story?  They are going to have her cremated and are going to have a  memorial service at a later date. Please keep them close to  your hearts.  I love you all   Janie - Friday, May 26, 2006 at 07:20:08 (PDT) Author: jimnjane@comcast.net

MS Charity Dance Party!

Hello Family! Just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that Jeff  and I did the MS Walk this year with mom and dad (Gerry and  Kelly Stevenson) and came up with this great idea to ask my  place of work to sponsor a charity dance for Multiple  Sclerosis and they have accepted!  This event is meant to  help raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and  is being held by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of  Bloomfield Hills, MI.  I have gotten permission to invite  all family members and friends, which is normally not  permitted at the studio.  Please help us light up the dance  floor and support the MS Foundation by attending on July  8th from 7:30pm-10:00pm.  The cost is only $10 per person  and 50% of all profits will be donated to the MS  Foundation.  There is no partner or previous dance  experience necessary and no limit on the amount of people  you may invite!  The evening will include refreshments,  beverages, ballroom dance demonstrations (yes, i will be  dancing, but please no laughter from the audience:) ),  group lessons, and general dancing.  The studio is located  at 2510 S. Telegraph Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302.  It is  at the corner of Telegraph and Square Lake Rd. in the  ComForcare Building on the second floor.  We hope that you  will help us in the fight against MS.  If there are any  questions you may have, you can contact me at the studio at  248-454-1715.  Please RSVP by June 30th.  Hope all of you  are doing well.  Take care  and God Bless! Tom's Big Plan

Hello to my 7 brothers and 4 sisters and all of your  families!   I see that there have been 25,000 hits on our family circle  letter.  WOW!!! I hope that this letter of mine will be seen by all of you! Jenny and I are once again chairing our Wicomico Relay for  Life for the American Cancer Society.  Last year, with all of our teams working, we were able to  raise $307,000.  Our goal for this year is $350,000. We have been involved with Relay for the past 10 years as  team “Beat the Beast” and will continue to be involved in  the future.  This is our second and final year as co- chairmen of the entire event. Chairing Relay is a huge  undertaking.  Jenny lives and breathes The American Cancer  Society all year preparing for this wonderful weekend. It  is like a full time job for her !.  Our hopes are that  someday through all of this fundraising, a cure for cancer  will be found and we will never again lose a family member  or friend to this dreaded disease.  I am sure that this would be music to Dad / Grandpa’s ears.  Our Relay theme this year is “TRAVELING THE WORLD TO FIND A  CURE”.  The participating teams have chosen campsites from  many locations all over the globe. Since we have our Stevenson family is all over the country,  we wanted to ad a campsite that represnts all of us.  Last  year we had a Stevenson family team called   “The Out-of-Towners”.  This year, my Mary (French) is  planning to have a Michigan Themed campsite, (with all the  yummy stuff Michigan has ie cherries, Sanders Hot Fudge,  Vernors...).  We would love any suggestions for this  campsite, and more importantly we'd love to have you here!   Our Relay for Life event starts on Friday,  September 29th  at 4:00 p.m. It continues until Saturday morning around 10:00 a.m.  There will be about 75 campsites.  Some of them will be  representing Hawaii, Australia, Africa,  Fiji, the North  Pole,  Memphis, Germany,  the Caribbean, Rydell High,   Cooperstown, Mardi Gras, 7 Seas,.....and so on…and of  course, my personal favorite,  MICHIGAN ! This year is the 20th anniversary of Dad / Grandpa’s death  from cancer.  I really want to honor him at Relay, and to accomplish this  I need and want your help.  Dad & Chris Palmer are the main  reasons that I am so involved. I was trying to figure an easy way to raise a few thousand  dollars for the Out-of-Towner’s team.  Here is a thought  that I had: …Esther and I have 6 children and with the 2 of us we will  register each of us      with a donation of $10.00 each,… a .total of  $80.00. Our children have 16 children.  They will register their  spouse and each of their children at $10.00 each. For example,…our son Tommy would register his wife and  their 4 children for a total of $50.00.  (Remember that we  already paid for him.)   If our whole family was to do this, we could raise close to  $2,000.00…and this could all be done very simply on-line  through our Relay website. The US mail also works well for those of you without  computer access ! (checks can be written to ACS,,..,sent to       Jenny  Palmer,                                                       27648 Crooked Oak Lane  Salisbury, Md. 21801   Each family could raise money through car washes, lemonade,  cookie stands, writing checks, or whatever great ideas you  may have.  This way everyone would become a big part of our  event. It’s good for the kids to be aware of this cause. Our Maryland grandchildren are so involved that they have  their own team…. Beat the Beast Juniors, Katie Marshall chairs the team.!  Each person who registers will receive a 2006 Relay For  Life T shirt. As soon as you are registered, you will be  sent your t-shirt. (please give us  mailing addresses and  sizes !)   It would mean the world to me to have my whole family come  and be with us for this special weekend, … I know that would be impossible,…. but I would love to have  as many of you as I can get to be here. We had such a great  time last year with you.  I was and continue to be so proud of my family, and I am  sure that Mom & Dad (Grandma  & Grandpa) would be proud of  us all, too. Fund Raiser/Cancer Society

Hello Family, Okay this may be impossible or not cost effective, but I  will leave that up to all you musicians, and shower  singers out there to see if it could work!  What if we  created a family CD?  Uncle Bill, Tony (T.J.), Cole, Beth,  Uncle Terry, Aunt Mary, Leah, Anna, Uncle Tony, Mary and  Doug, Michael etc. Any contributors would be great.  The  music jaundra would be anything and everything, or we  could do a family Christmas CD.  I know I would be willing  to pay great money for a CD like this.  I know we have  more than 100 family members, then we have freinds that  know our family and our abilities, our churches, our work  places etc. If we charged $10-$15 for it, we would have a  significant amount to contribute to the Cancer Fund that  Jenny and Uncle Tom are volunteering for, and we also  would get the reward of hearing our family all year round,  unless we did a Christmas CD.  Okay here is the technical  stuff, I have no idea how much something like this would  cost, or the first steps that need to be taken to  orchestrate this.  I will leave that up to the experts  that we have in this great, incredible, loving family! - Wednesday, August 09, 2006 at 11:29:52 (PDT) Author: kcarey3@hotmail.com

What a great idea for a fundraiser - and maybe if we pull  it off we could use the proceeds for Relay and For Aunt  Kelly's MS Walk... Here's my thought... since many of you fabulous musicians  have already made a CD or 2, maybe we could use some of  those songs for a compliation CD and that would keep the  cost still in an effecitive place... I will ask Doug French to look into this project, and if  any of you music makers will come on board - what a thrill  that would be.  I know here in Maryland we have plenty of  friends who ask when the musicians are coming to town, and  I know we can sell some CD's here..... Stevenson CD 1st & 2nd Generation

August 14, 2006      My Dear Family, Hello from #12 of the Loven Dozen. I  can't believe that Kelly Carey wrote down this fabulous  idea of a family CD. As many of you may or may not know I  am planning on retiring in the next year or so and I have  been talking about putting a CD together from all the  various family parties we have had in the past. I want to  put a CD together with Uncle Bobby and Uncle Danny (Grandpa's brothers) and Mom and Dad and if we can somehow  get an old 78 rpm  record player I think we even have a recording of Grandpa  James Ira as well as Mattie playing the piano and Aunt  Betty singing. I think  Uncle John has most of the old reel to reels of years gone  by parties and I know it  would take some considerable time to compile this stuff but  wouldn't it be a treasure for us to have? This could be  perhaps CD 1 and then with  any or all of Eun and Jims kids songs could be CD2 and the  grandchildren could make up CD 3. We have almost 100 years  of recorded Stevensons out there and when I retire in 2007  that will be my biggest project to look forward to.   Kelly has really been struggling with her walking and she  just this week got a Hoverround type of powerized  wheelchair to get around the house with little effort. Our  insurance fully covered it and what a blessing from God  that will be for her. We have put our house up for sale and  we are planning to downsize to a newer manufactured home  perhaps in Holly about 10 miles from Clarkston. This will  significantly reduce our monthly overhead. Kelly   is still tutoring a couple of kids this summer and we hope  she will get a few more in the fall. General Motors has  really been hit hard with this economy and my overtime  hours have been cut. GM is calling us back into the GM  Plant due to a large number of employees that retired early  from GM. I will be leaving  Lear where I have worked for the last 11 years and  returning to the GM factory where Jane retired from. I'm  not sure when this is happening yet but that is another  reason I am planning on retiring from GM in 2007. God  willing if Kelly continues to do well, I may find some type  of supplemental work near the house. Dear Tom and Jenny I  so wish that Kelly and I could come to Maryland this year  for the Cancer benefit but hopefully next year we'll be in  a better financial position than we are this year. We  certainly will pray for a total success and May God Bless  all your hard work for such a worthy cause!! We Love you  all, Gerry and  Kelly - Monday, August 14, 2006 at 19:03:40 (PDT) Author: gerryandkelly2@aol.com

A prince of a man, a man of few words, but constant action, has left us

Many of you have heard that Jennifer's father died as a  result of blood thinners and anti-platlet medications  while waiting 8 days for a simple procedure to place a  stent in a blocked cardiac artery.  His turn for a cardiac  stent in a cath lab was postponed a total of 8 days while  others "more sick" then him received the simple  procedure.  Mike was just 57 years old. He passed, leaving  his mother (who fell in the same hospital braking her hip  and having a very tiny stroke) while waiting for the same  procedure...she got the stent the same day she broke her  hip in the hospital instead of waiting an additional 3  days that were planned for her, His wife Judy of 37 years,  2 daughters, 2 son-in-laws and his yet to be born first  grandchild with Jennifer's sister Jessica. Mike had recently began an 1400 sq foot addition to his  home adding addtional foundation, plumbing, floors and  walls,  this required he tear away the siding on his  previously "finished" home.  In addition Mike was trying  to stay afloat running his own 20 unit apartment complex  in the face of rising intrest on a variable rate  commercial loan in California   Mike started out in seminary school but decided instead to  become an LAPD police officer for 20 years riding motor  patrol and performing accident investigation.  Mike would  spend his nights adoring his 2 girls (he hand painted  butterflys and dragonflys on their bikes with bannana  seats!) In addition he helped to raise 3 nephews. He and  Judy ran The Gables Bed and Breakfast Inn for 13 years  before entering into "semi-retirement" (good lord)  Recently Mike had helped us to nearly.....complete a 6  month remodel of our kitchen giving up most of his  Wednsdays and many weekends to help us both physically and  technically. He also was very active in his church  building elaborate props for childrens plays, leading  prayer groups and was attempting to broker the purchase of  a facility to permantely house his church.  Mike could  have easily lead men into battle or in prayer.  He was a  man of very few words but was a great example to all.  He  will be missed by a great number of people. 20.00 bill

$20.00 Sometimes we just need to be reminded! A well-known speaker started off his seminar by        holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he  asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt BY THE DECISIONS WE MAKE and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we  know, but by WHO WE ARE. November 12, 2006  A Day for Remembering

Dear Family: Nine years ago today Mom (Gramma)left her little earthly body and rose from it into the presence of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  I can still remember her countenance.  It was one of peace and beauty as her immortal soul and spirit just moments earlier went to heaven, the eternal home for all who accept the sacrifice of Jesus as the price paid for our sins.  What an unfathomable gift He gave!  And what a blessed and unselfish life Mom had.  She was such an example to each one of us.  We loved her so much.  Her love was like God's love...unconditional. That's the best way to understand God's love for us.  No matter how far away our children seem to be, no matter how much they cause us pain at times, our love for them never ceases because it's unconditional and eternal.  It's the same for our grandchildren and great grandchildren as well.  I pray all my loved ones will know this love that the Lord Jesus has for each one and that He will become(if He already hasn't) his or her personal Lord and Saviour.  He is the ONLY WAY to that place where Mom and Dad are.  Don't we all want to spend eternity in that glorious place?  That was mom's constant prayer for her "twelve jewels" and their seed. What an angel she was...a saint, really.  Her memory is forever sweet and always brings a smile and a tear.  We were so blessed to call her mother. Baby Lilly

Hello family, (As I read this letter over, I see that it got much longer  than I hoped, so let me tell you first that Lilly is on  her way to getting better as I type !) ******************************************************* Some of you have heard that Danny & Jill's sweet baby  Lilly, (10 months old) has been frightening us the last  few days ! Here is a simplistic timeline of events: Last Thursday, Dec 7th....... ......Lilly has a routine doctor visit for her well-baby    check-up. All is good except that she has a little cold.      Friday....5:00 a.m....D & J wake up to the sound of Lilly           crying hard ...which turns into a scream....then           sweet baby begins to have a seizure....this is a          first....and terrifying. She goes to the hospital          in an ambulance....(another first !!!) It seems to be a Febrile seizure which comes from a high  temperature which comes on very quickly. She has blood  work, chest x-ray and a cat scan of her head. All check  out okay. She goes home about 4:00 p.m. and D & J continue  to treat the fever successfully. Saturday morning....back to regular pediatrician for a  follow-up from hospital trip.  Now has a double ear  infection....she goes on antibiotics. In the meantime Jill's parents have rushed from New Jersey  early Friday  morning to be with them.  Now on Saturday  afternoon, after the okay from the hospital and seeing the  doctor in the morning, Lilly is on the upswing.....temp  under control, antibiotics working on her...life is good ! So they feel the crisis has passed and they are  comfortable with going home (4 hour drive). Just after they leave. Lilly is warm again....temp now  about 104!!!!  Call hospital...they tell  Jill what to do  for the fever....  medicate again.... now they get the get  temp down to `101... soon after that it shoots up to 105 !!!  Back to the  hospital.  More tests....this time they show that she has  RSV...Respiratory Syncytial Virus....and pneumonia. Because she now has 3 different things to deal with...they  admit her. 1....concern about another fever associated seizure 2...double ear infection 3....pneumonia VIA IV's she is getting fluid in her for some dehydration,  and antibiotics, meds for fever, also she gets breathing  treatments,...etc. Sunday afternoon Lilly smiled for the first time in many  days; that was wonderful to see !!! They thought she would  be home on Monday, but as of Monday morning they are  keeping her another day because her lungs are still not  clear enough. WOW !!! the sweet baby really scared us, big time,  but  she is on the mend so everyone is doing much better. It  looks like Lilly will have asthma in the future....sorry  Lilly !  But now that Danny and Jill know that, they will  be able to treat her with breathing treatments at home to  help her at other times when needed. This has been so scary, because all along Danny and Jill  have done everything right..and still things have changed  so quickly. Their little family has been through a rough few days. Thanks for your prayers. They LOVED your phone call from  the aunts and uncles at your Christmas party ! I tried to make this letter short and sweet...but couldn't  quite figure out how to do that. Danny and I are so grateful for all of your love, prayers and support while Lilly was so sick.  She is doing so much better.  As of her doctor's visit on Thurs., the pneumonia and ear infections are almost cleared up; and as of today, she shouldn't be contagious anymore.  It's times like these that make you really appreciate the family you were given. Hello Dear Family, Twenty years ago today was a very sad day in the Stevenson  family.  Our beloved father went to his eternal home to be  with our Lord forever.  Even though it was a time of grief  for us, God's word says "Precious in the sight of the Lord  is the death of His saints."  Psalm 116:15  That's because  He loves us so much that when we return to Him it is a  precious thing in His sight.  Our loved ones are gone from  our sight, but never from our hearts.  Love is eternal. We miss you, Dad.  Your love for us and your talent was  unequalled and has been passed down to the generations  following you.  We praise God for this. At Christmas time our memories are so good and rich.  I  pray all of you have a wonderful holiday and I'm so  grateful for all the blessings and healings taking place  in the family, especially baby Lilly. I woke this morning wanting to put a letter on here..got to  work and there was no down time to put it on there and had  to go right to Christmas practice (at church) after  work...got home very late but still wanted to put something  on... when I read what you both had written I  thought ....Yes! those were perfectly my thoughts...Oh my  goodness, how I wish Dad and Mom ( Gramma and Grampa)  SOOOOO could be here to see all of these new little ones  and to see baby Ryanne, their first GREAT, GREAT  granddaughter...  What a legacy... So I too will give my thanks for ALL THE  LOVE ....no one on earth could have asked for more! Nancy's New Computer/new email address

Hi Family, Happy new year to each and everyone of you.  2007 is going  to be an amazing year for all of us.   I received a new computer for Christmas from my husband  and I want to give you my email address: newwine2007@comcast.net I have much to learn but I'm having fun.  Mary got me on  my space and I think it's a great way to communicate.  For  some reason it seems a lot simpler than E-mail.  Of course  I'm limited to those who choose to be my friends; but  that's OK. The circle letter definitely reaches more of my closest  friends which are all my family members.  Anyway, it's a  day of communication and that's a good thing. Another Wedding!!!

Just wanting to let everyone know that Sarah Jane and Johnny  got married last night in a tiny ceremony at our church...  Our baby girl is now:                  MRS.SARAH JANE REGAN ( pronounced reegan) and we are SO VERY HAPPY for her!!! We will be having a  bigger ceremony on August 24th,2007 for all the family to  meet Johnny and to celebrate their joy with them!!! With  the Branson trip and TJ's wedding in July we realize that  alot of out of towners will not be able to come but Sarah &  Johnny know how blessed they are to celebrate with those  who can make it! You all will come to love Johnny as we have and I KNOW he  is going to make a GREAT ADDITION to the Stevenson family  and he is anxious to get to know EVERYONE!!! He makes Sarah  VERY happy and that makes us happy!! They're renting an  apartment not too far from us. It is really nice and  they have decorated it real "groovy"... you know  Sarah ...she has a real flair for that kind of thing! So once again...the Stevenson family grows and grows!!! And  now with Lucy Jane joining us in April and then Rachel and  Liam joinging us in July we are VERY BLESSED indeed!!! Mom and Dad would be crying tears of joy to meet all these new members as witness to their many prayers so long ago~  "SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME AND FORBID  THEM NOT~ FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN".... We love you all and can't wait to see you again~ We are overdue to have a BIG Stevenson REUNION... maybe we  should plan one for next summer!!!  a SEVENTY YEAR  ANNIVERSARY of Mom & Dad's wedding! Wow ... how amazing! Branson, here we come !

Hello Brother Gerry and all, Of course brother Tom and his wife Esther will be going to Branson.    We wouldn't miss it !!!  Love those family get-togethers. We definitely want to go to a dinner show to see cousin  Bob. Also, has anyone been able to see what other shows might  be in Branson while we are there?  I have gone to the  Branson web site but I can't find any information there. We would go to see Debby Boone if she was there.  We saw her in December and she was wonderful. Help !!!
