What are the system requirements for the Sonic.net Accelerator?
The Sonic.net Accelerator requires Macintosh OS 10.2 or later with a functional dial-up connection and 128MB of RAM. Sonic.net recommends 256MB of RAM to ensure smooth operation if possible.
The Sonic.net Accelerator does not function on newer, Intel-based Macintosh computers.
Does Sonic.net Accelerator work on Mac OS versions predating 10.2?
No. There are no plans currently to release a web acceleration product for older Macintosh systems.
How do I access the configuration?
Sonic.net Accelerator settings can be accessed by opening the Apple menu and selecting System Preferences. Settings can also be accessed on the upper-right portion of your screen, near the clock.
Why am I seeing degraded graphics after installing Sonic.net Accelerator?
Sonic.net accelerates the downloading of Web page images by first pre-compressing the graphics they contain. This is just one of many techniques that Sonic.net Accelerator uses to improve Web page load time. By default graphic images are delivered to your Web page in slightly compressed form that balances speed of delivery with graphics quality.
Does the Sonic.net Accelerator work with Safari, Camino, or Firefox?
Yes. Sonic.net Accelerator works with any web browser that allows for local web proxies. In your network preferences, set your HTTP proxy to "localhost" on port 8080.
Does the Sonic.net Accelerator require Sonic.net service?
Yes. A Sonic.net account with dial-up access in good standing is required to use the Sonic.net Accelerator.
Note: The Sonic.net Accelerator requires a login name and password. The login name must be for a Sonic.net account with dial-up access. Add-on email accounts and hosting-only accounts will not be able to authenticate with the Accelerator.
Does the Sonic.net Accelerator include spyware?
No.
