A. Download and Installation:

  3. After the file is decoded, double-click the MACPPP 2.2.0A FOLDER.

  4. Put the CONFIG PPP icon into the CONTROL PANELS folder. The CONTROL PANELS folder is located inside the SYSTEM FOLDER.

  5. Put the PPP icon into the EXTENSIONS folder. The EXTENSIONS folder is located inside the SYSTEM FOLDER.

  6. Choose SPECIAL > RESTART to Restart your Macintosh and complete the installation of MacPPP 2.2.0a.
IMPORTANT: In order for MacPPP 2.2.0a to work properly you must first install MacTCP version 2.0.4 or greater. If you are using Open Transport, Apple Computer Corporation suggests using FreePPP 1.0.5 instead of MacPPP 2.2.0a.

B. Configuration:

  1. Choose APPLE MENU > CONTROL PANELS > CONFIG PPP.

  2. For PORT NAME choose the port your modem is connected to.

  3. Click the NEW... button.

  6. For PORT SPEED choose the highest port speed that your modem can communicate with your computer. Most ISDN or 28.8 modem users should try either 57600, 115000, or 230400. 14.4 users should choose 38400. If things don't seem to work at the higher speed selection, try using a lower speed. Port Speed is dependent upon the type of computer and the modem you're using. Therefore, if you have problems with this choice please call Apple Computer Corporation at (800) 767-2773 and/or your modems manufacturer.

  7. For FLOW CONTROL choose CTS & RTS (DTR) unless you are using a Global Village modem. Global Village modem users should choose CTS ONLY. Flow Control is dependent upon the type of computer, the modem, and the modem cable you're using. Therefore, if you have problems with this choice please call Apple Computer Corporation at (800) 767-2773 and/or your modems manufacturer.

  8. For PHONE NUM type in one of the phone numbers listed below. Make sure to choose a phone number that is a local call for you. If you are uncertain of which phone number to use, please contact your local operator by dialing 0.
