Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0
for Windows95
The latest version of the Internet Explorer can be found at
<http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie.htm>.
This Setup Guide is intended for Windows95 users who have installed the
Sonic Windows 3.1x Startup Kit on their PC's and would like
to upgrade to the Windows95 Dialer. The Internet Explorer installs both
itself and the Internet Setup Wizard. The Internet Setup Wizard than helps
you install and configure the Windows95 dialer. This is the easiest way
to upgrade to the Windows95 dialer.
WARNING: Do not install the Internet Explorer unless you are an intermediate
or advanced PC user and have the time and patience to complete the job yourself.
Once you have installed the Internet Explorer and in turn the Windows95
dialer you will no longer be able to use Sonic's telephone
or Email support for any of the software that came with your Sonic
Windows 3.1x Startup Kit (i.e., Trumpet Winsock, Netscape, Eudora, and Ewan).
NOTE: This procedure loads files, and drivers not typically
installed as part of a Win95 installation. It is essential that
you have your original Windows95 CD-ROM or floppies
to complete this procedure successfully.
After installing the software, you must use the Windows95 dialer instead
of Trumpet Winsock. This makes it possible for you to use 32 bit Internet
applications designed for Windows95 (e.g., Netscape Navigator for Windows95).
Moreover, you will still be able to use Windows 3.1x Internet applications
including the ones that came with your Sonic Windows 3.1x
Startup Kit (i.e., Netscape, Eudora, and Ewan).
