Set Up Mozilla 1.3/Netscape 7 on Mac OS X to read news.sonic.net
This tutorial will show you how to set up Mozilla 1.3 or Netscape 7 for Mac OS X to read newsgroups on news.sonic.net. The screenshots were taken from Mozilla 1.3, but if you are using Netscape 7, you should find this tutorial to be equally relevant.
- Once you've opened Mozilla, click on the menu labeled "Window," and select "Mail & Newsgroups."

- Then, once the Mail & Newsgroups portiion of Mozilla opens, click on the menu labeled "Edit," and select "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings."

- Click on the button labeled "Add Account..." to open the new account wizard.

- You will be presented with a new window labeled "New Account Setup." Mark the circle labeled "Newsgroup account" and press the right-arrow to
continue.

- In "Identity," you must enter the appropriate account information."
- "Your Name" should be your name, or a nickname. This will be what is listed as your name in newsgroups to which you post.
- "Email Address" is your Sonic.net email address. If you want to remain anonymous, enter "no.valid.email@sonic.net." This will make it impossible for anyone to write to you personally.

- In "Server Information," enter "news.sonic.net." Press the right-arrow to continue.

- In the "Account Name" screen, enter an appropriate name for this group of newsgroup settings ("news.sonic.net" is good, because it lets you know
what news server you'll be connecting to with this account). Press the right-arrow to continue.

- "Congratulations!" You have come to the final screen. Verify that the information matches what Sonic.net requires you to enter, and press "Finish."
If you want to make any changes, press the left-arrow to go back.

That's it! Press "OK" and close the Account Settings window. Mozilla 1.3 or Netscape 7 will now let you read newsgroups on news.sonic.net. If you'd like help with Mozilla or Netscape's other features, please take a look at the help menu, located at the top of the screen. Back to the Macintosh setup guides.
