ADSL
Configuration for Win 9x
Use this walk-through to
configure your computer for Sonic.net ADSL.
Step
1)
1a) Click on the
Start
menu.
1b) Click on
Settings
and then on Control Panel.
1c) Double-click on the
Network
icon.
Step 2)

Once in the Network
Control
Panel, double- click on the TCP/IP protocol that has the
arrow
"->" pointing to your Ethernet card adapter.
Step 3)

Click the Specify an
IP
address radio button. In the IP Address field, type in
the IP
Address we have provided you.
In the Subnet
Mask
field, type in 255.255.255.0
Click on the
Gateway
tab.
Step 4)

Type the Gateway
number we provided you in the New Gateway field. Once you
have
typed in the Gateway, click Add.
Now click on the DNS
Configuration tab.
Step 5)

5a) Click the Enable
DNS
radio button.
5b) In the Host
field, type in your Sonic.net username. For example, if your e-mail
address is someone@sonic.net,
your username would be someone in all lowercase
characters.
5c) Type
sonic.net in
the Domain field.
5d) For the DNS
Server
Search Order field, type in 208.201.224.11 and click the
corresponding
Add button. The DNS number you just typed in should drop down
into the larger box. Now, type in 208.201.224.33 in the
DNS
Server Search Order field, and click the Add button again. Both
DNS
numbers should be stacked one atop the other.
5e) In the Domain
Suffix
Search Order field, type in sonic.net and click the
corresponding Add
button.
5f) Click OK
once,
and then click OK again in the Network window. Restart the
computer when you are prompted to do so.
Step 6)
6a)
Click on the Start menu.
6b) Click on
Settings
and then on Control Panel.
6c) Double-click on the
Internet
Options icon (Windows ME, Internet Explorer 5).
6c) Click on the
Connection
Tab. Click the Never Dial a Connection radio button. Click
OK.
