Outlook Express Newsgroups
In addition to being a mail client, Outlook Express is a capable USENET news program as well.
First, load Outlook Express, then select Tools and Accounts

Click the button labeled "Add" and select "Mail..."

You will be prompted for your name. If you have already set up email in Outlook Express, it may already be present. Click "Next" to continue.

You will be prompted for your email address. Click "Next" to continue.

Enter "news.sonic.net" as the news server name. Sonic.net news servers do not require you to log on when you are connected to the internet through Sonic.net. Click "Next" to continue.

Once the above information has been provided, click Finish to begin using newsgroups.

You will be prompted to begin downloading newsgroups. Click "Yes" to begin.

It will take a few minutes for all of the newsgroups to be downloaded. There are over 36,000 newsgroups as of this writing.

Once downloaded, you can begin subscribing to newsgroups. These are open forums, and you will not be notified when new posts are made, so check the newsgroups you are interested in often!

When you have subscribed to the newsgroups you are interested in, your groups will appear below your regular mail folders. Click on a group name to read its contents just like email.
