Windows Update
From time to time, security and performance problems with the Microsoft Windows operating system and its core components are found. The engineers at Microsoft regularly release "patches" which are intended to fix these problems.
Sonic.net reccomends that you keep any computer that is connected to the internet updated regularly. Run Windows Update once a week to keep your system reasonably secure.
The Windows Update tool can be accessed from your Internet Explorer web broswer by opening the "Tools" menu and selecting "Windows Update." This will open a webpage that will prompt you to scan for new updates. Follow the instructions on the Windows Update webpage to finish the process.
Some updates require that you restart your computer after installation.
Sonic.net reccomends that you install all "Critical Updates" related to internet security whenever possible.
