XP Dialup Initial Setup

Click on network and internet connection

Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Network Connection"

Click on "Create a New Connection."
Click "Next" to continue.
Click "Connect to the Internet" and click "Next"
Select Set up my connection manually" and click "Next"
Select "Connect using a dial-up modem" and click "Next"
You will be prompted to type in the name of your ISP, in our case Sonic.net. Click "Next" to continue.
Type in the number you would like your computer to dial. You can find a listing of Sonic.net numbers in your areas using our local POP finder tool.

You will be prompted for your username and password. The checkboxes in the bottom portion of the window are all optional, though we highly recommend having the first two marked. The Internet Connection Firewall is a security mechanism that helps keep your computer secure while online, but can cause problems if misconfigured.
As the last set in creating your dialup connection you may wish to add a shortcut to your desktop. This will allow you to establish an internet connection directly from your desktop.
Click "Finish" to wrap up this process, and you're ready to get online. Simply double-click on your web browser and your Windows XP should automatically connect you.
