Sonoma City Hall - Exterior at Night

Sonoma City Hall - Interior
Sonoma City Hall, Sonoma, CA.

The Sonoma City Hall project involved seismic stabilization, exterior restoration, and interior space planning for a historic two story circa 1906 stone building housing the City of Sonoma's administrative offices. Tierney/Figueiredo Architects worked closely with the city's administrative staff to develop a building program and cost analysis for the project; this preliminary needs analysis and space planning was closely coordinated with the structural engineer's seismic stabilization designs. The interior space planning focused on evaluating the short and long term needs of various city departments, and resulted in the development of a plan that allowed for maximum space planning flexibility to accommodate the city's 20 year organizational plan within the constraints of an existing building. This was accomplished while preserving the original historic character of the building. This project involved coordination with the Division of the State Architect, the State Fire Marshal's office, and use of the State Historic Building Code to provide the most economical design solutions within the context of preserving a historic building of great significance to the local community.
