Company HistoryTierney/Figueiredo Architects AIA was founded in 1980 by Jerold Tierney and was was known at that time as Jerold Tierney Architects Inc. In 1990 Randy Figueiredo became a partner in the firm. Over the past two decades Tierney/Figueiredo has produced a great number and variety of projects in Sonoma County and the northbay region. These projects include office and retail buildings and single and multi-family housing. Tierney/Figueiredo is also very well known for the seismic and architectural rehabilitation of many locally significant historic structures. Tierney/Figueiredo currently has a staff of ten persons, six of whom are licensed architects. Our current and recent work for private clients includes a $2,500,000 golf course clubhouse and restaurant, a $4,000,000 brewery and hospitality building, master planning new classroom and administrative facilities for St. Joseph's Church in Cotati, mixed use residential-retail developments in Cotati and Penngrove, 140 units of affordable housing in Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Sonoma for the non-profit Burbank Housing Development Corporation, renovation of historic buildings in Santa Rosa, Sonoma and Napa, and numerous commercial projects. Our recent public work includes a feasibility study for the Sonoma County Water Agency, and public building renovation projects for the County of Sonoma in Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Sebastopol. We have also recently provided the City of Santa Rosa with schematic design services for remodeling 7 city fire stations, as well as providing full architectural services for the seismic upgrade, rehabilitation and remodeling of the Santa Rosa City Hall.Tierney/Figueiredo Architects has also recently been selected to design the new DeMeo Teen Center to serve the youth of Santa Rosa. We are very proud that at the conclusion of an extensive interview and selection process that we were chosen to be the architects for this very exciting and locally significant $3,500,000 project. With six licensed architects on its staff, all capable of acting as project manager on large and small scale jobs, Tierney/Figueiredo Architects is able to efficiently and expeditiously complete a wide variety of projects. We provide construction document services in an AutoCAD format, and can also provide a wide range of two and three dimensional computerized rendering services to better enable our clients to visualize their projects in the early stages of the design process as well as provide effective presentations for investors, tenants, neighbors, and public agencies. Because of our many years of working with private developers, Tierney/Figueiredo has always been very conscious of the importance of completing projects within budget and on schedule. We have always made these "realities" of the construction process an important part of our schematic designs and construction documents. We also strive to work closely and early in the design process with our clients, consultants, and contractors to come up with efficient, cost-effective solutions that avoid coordination difficulties, change orders and cost over-runs. By working closely with general contractors in negotiated bid or design-build situations and/or by utilizing their services as cost estimators prior to the commencement of construction documents we have consistently provided cost effective solutions to our private and public clients. Cost estimating services have been an integral part of many of our projects. Since we have functioned not only as architects, but also as owner/developers on a number of commercial and residential projects, we have direct personal experience with the economic realities that lie behind every successful project. This time spent on the "other side of the fence" allows us to effectively weigh economic versus aesthetic considerations and provide solutions that benefit both our client and the community. We pride ourselves on our dedication to being responsive to our clients' needs. We strive to be accessible and service oriented, and believe that attention to detail at every level of a project leads to the type of innovation that can result in functionally and aesthetically successful projects that also financially benefit our clients in the short and long term. |
