The Grey Season (gothic, dark, power trio). A very stark band out of oakland (maybe berkeley), combining a deep male vocal, thundering bass, rocket drums and a guitar with sounds you've never heard before.

Meeting the grey season was pure fate; after hearing them for the first time, it was pure addiction. we cried, we danced, we rocked - way there, like the blackness of infinity. Finn the singer bass player says "space is good". . . and it was so good that Mick Mercer who puts together the annual goth book and it's cd compilations, chose one of the grey season's tracks to open his 1997 cd "the hex files" (available where cds are sold) - or, you can order the entire grey season album:
