the Alan Young Jazz Quartet

Same River Twice

It's often said that you can never step into the same river twice, and that's certainly true of the jazz experience. Every return to an old standard—and every new attempt to find the heart of an underexposed gem—can yield unexpected rewards. The channel seems familiar, but then you find the current brings you to more depth, more intricate eddies, more turbulence, or more just-plain-fun than expected.

Such is our adventure, our love, and our challenge. If these journeys bring you to places of surprising beauty, power, mystery, or joy in your soul, we have succeeded in sharing our experience.

I hope you enjoy the ride.
