Homepage: Adolph N. Hofmann

My professional career, spanning the years 1966-1997, was spent at Santa Rosa Junior College in Sonoma County, California, where I taught German in the Modern and Classical Languages Department. During the last seven years of my tenure, I was Department Chairman.

This page serves as a link to two areas, the first being a pages of resources for matters associated with my professional career, mainly two presentations having to do with German history of the late ‘80's and the early 90's, the period of unification, the time when the Berlin Wall was opened and the governmental structure of East Germany collapsed. Created during that period they recount those turbulent years and the problems faced by the integrating halves of the country, apart for an entire generation. The prose text is accompanied by many images, some of them photos taken by me, and others by eminent photographers.

Both presentations Berlin and the Two Germanies and German Unification: Five Years After can be accessed by clicking here.

The second purpose of this page is to link to items of current interest in my retired life. These pages are meant mainly to be of interest to friends and family members.

In the fall of 2001, Candace Birchfield and I took an exciting trip to the American Southwest, Indian Country, which focused on Indian settlements and remains, especially the pottery. This presentation is entitled A Journey to Indian Country.

A further presentation concerning Hofmann family background and ancestry is under construction, Summer '08.
