Korn . . . wow . . . I think the first time I ever heard about Korn was in 7th or 8th Grade, with an in-crowd kid talking about them. He downloaded a movie clip with them talking, and all I remember is one guy at the end saying that they were Korn, and somebody else going: "Yeah!" I never really heard much of their music for a while, and I don't remember much of what the first songs of theirs I heard were.

Colin really liked them, and one time he invited me over, he played some of their stuff for me. I had to admit I liked some of the music. They cussed enough to curdle a mother's tongue, but some of the music sounded cool. He started it off by saying: "Okay. Now who do you know who can do this . . ." and turned on the song "Twist." People who have heard Korn know what I'm talking about. At first I thought it was kinda scary, then it became funny. Next chance I got, I borrowed Garrett's (the in-crowd kid) copy of the "Follow the Leader" CD and taped it. I still have that tape somewhere in my room.

I heard an interview with Korn, and one of the questions asked was: "Rumor has it that your message isn't exactly wholesome. What's the scoop on that?" Now, whoever wrote that question was either trying to be nice or hasn't read their lyrics. Quite a while ago, Kori got into 'em before I did, and I riled her for it. I remember asking her what she liked about people jumping around on stage screaming: "**** all that bull****!" constantly. I do owe her an apology, because now I like them. She said she liked them for the guitar. I'm close to that: I like them for the sound they make. It's hard to put my finger on. I don't care much for their image, and they cuss a lot, but overall, I still like them.

I actually got to go to a concert of theirs: the "Rock is Dead" Tour. It was the first concert I'd ever been to. I still have the ticket. The opening band was Video Drone, who I didn't care for much. Rob Zombie came on next, and he was pretty cool. But finally Korn came on, and that was extremely cool. They started off with "Blind" just as Colin predicted, too. The show ruled, and I got home at about 1:00 in the morning. It was a little hard at school next morning. Colin missed the whole first two periods.
