glide

Here is where you lay
      the flattened, rumpled sheets
Smiling up at me
The scent of your hair
lingers on the bed

I lie down,
reliving the moment.

My head next to yours
I watched your eyes
        flit and move
    -from me
    -about the room
    -back to me
Your smile was contagious
      (or was it vice versa?)
My fingers on your skin
    gliding,
buttressed by the heat of your body

You move
and I hear you inhale

I kiss your neck
breathing warmly upon you
your turn your head
and I feel your tongue on my cheek
It draws a laugh from me,
And I turn to see your smile.

The light from the window
           glows
reflected in your left eye
I lean back and gaze at you.

Your arms,
      rising up around my shoulders
Your waves of hair,
      pooling around your head
Your lidded eyes,
      flickering in the light
The dark colors of your hair
contrast with the pale shade of your skin
Framing your face,
bringing out the line of your jaw
as you tilt your head to the side
smiling at me

Your hand caresses the side of my face
And you utter words that flatter me
-words that I feel you deserve better than I

I treasure these moments
      more than anything
