Heart Halves
Everybody has a different view on love,
Depending on how they have it
Some have it tough, some have it sweet,
Some don't got it at all.
Love is a beautful, uplifting thing,
That spreads through you like a warmth.
Love is saturating, love is filling,
It cuddles you like a blanket.
Yet love can also be sour,
Holding you down, keeping you restrained,
Chained like a dog,
While your "lover" wrecks your life.
But in true love, it's nothing like that.
Two parts of a whole, coming together,
Like the end of a good book,
Like the missing piece to a puzzle.
Like a virus infecting a cell,
The thoughts seep into your brain,
You love her, you want her,
Your life gets controlled by your heart.
But not in a true relationship,
Both lovers have their room,
They each have personal space,
And each other's love, as well.
And each other's financial problems.
"Lover" forgot to pay the gas bill,
So now we live in a Motel 6,
Kickin' it with cockroaches.
Accepting each other's mistakes,
Knowing they're both human,
Instead of getting angry, they get happy,
Being together is more important.
More important than the gas?
How about the heat?
When you're kicked out of bed, in the middle of the night?
No slippers on your feet.
Then you can discuss it, and both make up,
Remind yourself what you have in common.
And what you have that's different,
Brains, and lack thereof.
Criticism will get you nowhere.
The stress makes you lose your hair!
Love is strong,
It will,
You're wrong.
