Self-Rebuke

Self-Rebuke

Spare me from the lines.
Here they come again,
Here you go,
Do you ever tire of this?
Do you ever realize
just how often you repeat yourself?
Repeat your jokes,
Repeat your stance,
Repeat your attitude.
I don’t want to hear it again.
I’ve heard it before.
You are the same person you always were.
Parts of you may have changed,
and I salute you for actions to that extent,
but there's more that needs to be done.

But who am I?
Who am I to say?
Who am I to judge?
How can I stand here,
haughty disdain
And belittle you?
You're your own person,
and I have no right.
I may tire of this,
but I have no right to announce
to declare
how it should go,
just because I want it to.
