This is something magic
Something indescribable
Something that doesn't need to be explained
Being spontaneous, going out with friends
We all end up back at someone's house
11:00 at night, TV on
Some people fighting over the couch
Some just lying on the floor
I'm sitting here with a girl
I barely even know
Her head is in my lap
And my hand is on her side
I can feel her warmth
Her head resting against my stomach
The rise and fall of her breathing
The way she moves when she laughs
She moves her hand and pokes me
Getting my attention instantly
She raises her head, talking quietly
Her eyes glittering in the dim light
I smile and answer her
And she gets up
Rising to her feet
To return in a moment
I sit there quietly for a moment,
a smile on my face.
My mind moves slowly, sloth-like
Ambling from one conclusion to the next
All the while in that pleasant comfort
All the while in that murky warmth
Wow, I say to myself
What a cool way to spend my evening.
