What must it be like?
To be the follower -
          To have one above you
          checking in for your welfare,
          doing things for the benefit of all
                    The group.
                    The family.
What must it be like?
To know that there is one
who does the work
So that all can reap the rewards
What happens when that overseer leaves?
          That father figure
          who did things for you,
          for so long
                    You’re lost.
                    You’re alone.
          You must learn to survive
                    on your own.
What must it be like?
To follow another.
What must it be like?
To agree, and to follow
          when he leads.
You are not alone:
You are a part of something larger,
          a family, a group,
and you are being cared for.
