Tour De Geyserville

We all crowded into the bus noisily,
"Three to a seat!" "What?"
Listened to a speech on safety,
then we were off.
Judy pointed out previously unknown facts
about the buildings and landscape.
"These houses are some of the oldest in town."
"When I was growing up there weren't any grapes,
they were all prunes."
We learned the historical background
of many buildings,
and what used to be there.
"That field used to be a school."
She pointed out a few personal houses,
as well as the school houses.
"There's the Hope Bosworth House."
"That store was owned by Andrew's grandfather."
"That house, Alisa's, is the third oldest in town."
"Jake lives up there."
"How do you know that?"
"I'm smart."
We saw interesting buildings,
like a hundred-year-old church made of a single wine barrel,
and a huge old mansion with a palm tree-lined walkway
with a guardhouse made of an old castle turret.
Some students with historical knowlege chipped in.
We learned that in Atanacio's pink house,
there's a former store, nearby a former post office,
and the historical tree in which Sonoma County's
last hanging took place.
The scenery was beautiful in places,
and we learned some interesting things.
I think everyone enjoyed it, if only to miss school.
