Squiggles #2

Here they are: click a thumbnail to see the full-sized version.
These are selective thumbnails: there's more to each picture than is shown in its thumbnail.
The newest are at the top, so the art gets progressively older (read: worse) as you go down.

And by the way, this is all © to me, so don't steal. Not like you'd really want to anyway.

New!

I believe "random" is the right word to describe this set. The wyvern is pretty fun, as are the two snakes. Nothing here shouts out as superfantastic, but there are a couple of nice ones. Like that big-eyeball dude at the bottom left.

This page was in some notebook or other, and somehow it attracted squiggles. I love that ghost scene at the top; the flailing arms are just perfect. And the ghost reminds me of a flatworm from high school science class, which is an amusing thought. The snail thingy is fun, as is the guy touching his fingertips together, looking like he's explaining something. I did not draw the unicorn, or squiggle the dragon. Those were courtesy of Erica, with whom I shared the art of squiggling. The unicorn is saying "Beeble-dooom!" Long story.

Not New!

These came from a few different places; they're all the new squiggles done on unlined paper. I particularly like the squirrelly guy at the top, the flying whale on the left, and the two swoopy helmet designs at the bottom. That's a human on the left and an otremn on the right (looking like a live-action person in a cartoon, since I drew him a little better than most of the other squiggley stuff).

...And here's all the new squiggles that came on lined paper. They're all from history class. The stuff I drew in my notebook was the most interesting part of that class. (Isn't it fun though? Look, an alien slug!)

Last semester I had a veeery boring lecture hall class, boring enough to have me drawing and squiggling all over my notebooks, and I'm the type who usually pays attention. But it's all good, because I took the class for credit/no credit [I passed], and I got a slew of fun squiggles out of it all. Yay whee.

This is the corner of one page in my notebook [more to follow]. I think that multi-armed critter at the bottom may have come from the discussions of different religions [it was a cultural geography class].

Here's the rest of the artsy stuff from that page. The viking guy and the Nessie head aren't squiggles, but they fit in fine. I drew the viking because I'd been thinking about the "Tooyah" war cry [from a couple of viking appearances in Gargoyles episodes]. Nessie showed up because the class before this one was on dinosaurs, and we'd taken a self-guided field trip to just outside the classroom and to the third floor, where there were two dino fossils mounted on the walls. One was a plesiosaur. Them's big!

That blank title space at the top of notebook pages is ideal for drawing. No little blue lines, how convenient. My favorite here is the skateboarding hamster-type, though I do like the grumpy superhero and the speedy turtle as well.

Somebody suggested I make squiggles out of words, so I did. See if you can pick out the letters in there. I used to do this ages ago, like in third grade. They gave us those little Classmate notebooks for journal entries, and the covers were always too boring and plain. Oh yeah, there's some other squiggly stuff on this page too. Yay.

Some time ago, I went to a science fair/convention thingy with some classmates, which was loads of fun. The only dull part was listening to some of the presentations. This is how I kept myself entertained when the presenters talked about things I didn't understand in the least. Look, a hamster in a Kleenex!

Here's the next page. I did these in my ever-so-useful mini sketchpad, which usually fits in my pocket. And when it doesn't, I wedge the backboard into my pocket, and that works great.

A nice thing about squiggles is the way you can get such a mix of silly and serious. At least, that's what I get. I've noticed that I tend to end up with more goofy stuff. That's fine with me.

Speaking of goofy stuff...
This is another good mix. I like the wyvern at the bottom left a lot. And of course the little singing guy.

Lotsa long skinny people here. It looks like an interesting cartoony style. Of course I meant to do that, you think I'm making this up as I go along?
