What's a parent to do if you have a Christmas baby?

Most important of all, set aside some quality time with your child, devoted solely to his or her birthday. To my parent's credit, I was given my birthday party on or near Halloween. Better yet, set aside some birthday time on Christmas Day.

Not to forget Jewish Christmas babies, Judy was the first person to send me e-mail about her experiences. "... in my neck of the woods, amongst my friends, the day is known respectfully as Judymas. [As a child] After Christmas vacation the kids in school used to say, 'whaddya get?'. They didn't say whaddya get for Christmas -- they just said, 'whaddya get?'. So I answered with a litany of birthday presents I'd received. I'm convinced that this kept me from growing up too neurotic vis-à-vis X-mas."

I really enjoyed the response from Noel Noack from Queensland, Australia. Talk about making the best of it -- a real when served lemons make lemonade story. Noel is a minister in the Lutheran Church. "My congregation always makes a bit of a fuss on Christmas Day -- they not only sing Christmas Carols but also sing me Happy Birthday at the end of the Service. They also sing The First Noel with gusto and smiles."

How do I accept my Christmas birthday today? Some years are better than others, including much of what's been said here. A few years back I did make some sort of a transformation by deciding from now on, I won't wear my "Bah Humbug" socks or T-shirt again. Hey, that's progress ... or as Mary Stokes said, "... the advantages of a Christmas birthday are something you have to learn to appreciate and enjoy."
